President Obama Spreads Hope in the Holiday Season

“I think we’ve got the best possible plan for Afghanistan,” President Barack Obama told Oprah Winfrey - and all the rest of us - during his holiday special.
He admitted that “job growth has not happened” during his term, saying this was “the biggest burden” he’s currently facing. “We are on our way out of Iraq,” he told the talk show host.
Overall, the President gave himself a B-plus grade for his first year in office. Do you agree, or think he’s grading on a curve?

Monday Ratings: Big Bang Theory Explodes

Last Monday, FOX took advantage of weakened competition. This time around, it was CBS’ turn. A House-free evening helped the network win both the viewers and the demos.

- How I Met Your Mother (3.5/10 in 18-49) kicked off the evening with 9.1 million viewers.
- Carrie Underwood: An All-Star Holiday Special (2.3/6) got 8.5 million singing for FOX.
- Accidentally on Purpose (2.9/8) scored 8.3 million.
- Santa Claus is Comin’ to Town (2.7/7) entertained 8 million.
- Law & Order: SVU* (1.5/4) rounded up 6.6 million.
- One Tree Hill (2.6 million, 1.2/3) was up 200,000.

American Idol winner Carrie Underwood will take over the TV tonight for a two-hour holiday special that begins airing on FOX at 8 pm. Dolly Parton, Christina Applegate, David Cook and Brad Paisley are only a few of the stars you can expect to see. But should you actually spend your time watching this primetime event?
If you’re expecting a sweet holiday tear-jerker, don’t. Underwood’s special will undoubtedly be a star-studded event filled with great music and moments meant to make you laugh…but it’s also going to be over-stuffed with blatant promotional techniques that help suck any benevolence out of the season.
