American Idol’s Aaron Kelly Talks Elimination

“I know that I had a lot of people wanting me to change it up a lot. But if I changed it up a lot, it would mean changing me.” , 17, faced the press bravely on the heels of his elimination from American Idol 9. During his time on the show, Kelly was known for crooning sweetly and perfectly on-point, displaying what would be dazzling vocals for anyone at any age.

But he also remained wooden on stage and only once deviated from his formula of singing softly and sincerely to the crowd, picking up the pace and making an attempt to move around on the stage for only one of the numbers he performed. Aaron Kelly explained that he thinks of himself “as a country artist,” so his song selection was all about “songs that I could make sound a little country.” If only he’d thrown in a little rock n roll, he might have made it to the Top 4.

American Idol 9: Siobhan Magnus will Keep on Screaming

“I hope to create a sound that is my own,” said of her future plans, on the heels of her American Idol 9 elimination. “I love every kind of music that moves me.” Siobhan was best-known for the sustained high notes she hit while singing on the Idol stage. Her unique sound and eccentric look immediately set her apart from the other contestants. She was, as Simon put it, “a funny little thing.”

Before she goes out on tour with the other Top 10 Idols, Magnus plans to spend some time with her friends back home. “I can’t wait to see everybody. I’m sure we’ll have a big family dinner. Family dinner, for us, means at least thirty people sitting down together.” Yowzah.

Siobhan maintained a positive attitude after her elimination, telling fans “not to worry.” “This is the end of one thing and the beginning of a new thing. I have so many big ideas.”

American Idol 9: Ashley Rodriguez, Janell Wheeler Talk Elimination

Two of American Idol 9’s latest outcasts sat down with Friday morning to talk about being eliminated from the show.

Janell Wheeler and Ashley Rodriguez managed to handle themselves with grace following their sad Thursday results, and remained in good spirits while they chatted up the host in their joint interview. Both plan to continue with their musical careers, and have no hard feelings toward the show. As Ashley Rodriguez philosophically offers in the clip above, “everything happens for a reason.”

American Idol 9: First Eliminations

Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Music, Prime Time, Reality, FOX, American Idol, Video,

Each of American Idol’s had just one chance, over two performance nights, to grab the nation’s attention. Which four out of this group failed at the endeavor? Only Thursday’s elimination round would yield the answer.

Ryan Seacrest started with Simon Cowell, saying that “people were buzzing” about Simon being “harsh” during . Perhaps if the show hadn’t been so terrible, his comment would have been more enthusiastic. “Some of the performance last night weren’t very good,” he explained to the host.

“There were some surprises,” Ellen DeGeneres said of her first week of truly judging Idol. “They gotta step it up now,” she said of the contestants.

“It’s really make it or break it time,” Randy Jackson explained.

The Top 24 performed “American Boy,” the only group performance they will have to offer. By the time the group performs again, they’ll be minus four contenders. The number started out with the girl contestants, who managed to perform ably (surprisingly so). The men didn’t sound as great, and when all twenty-four began to sing together the number really became horrible. Such is usually the way with Idol’s big group numbers. Once the Idols are narrowed down to twelve, the group numbers become much, much better.

DWTS’ Melissa Rycroft Gets Another Chance

Dancing with the Stars' Melissa Rycroft and Tony DovolaniOnce again, fans proved they love to see a comeback story. But will their votes have been in vain?

Even though a rib injury kept her from performing on Monday, Melissa Rycroft’s supporters rallied to keep her around for another week. This despite no guarantees that she will even be able to dance again.

During last night’s results show, Melissa updated the audience on the status of her hairline fracture. “We’ve started new treatment and we’re kind of optimistic that it will be effective,” she explained.

Since the former Bachelor star was spared elimination, the ax had to come down on another couple. Although they went into the evening with 5 more points than Rycroft and Tony Dovolani, and Julianne Hough were the ones sent home. But is there a possibility that they could return?

Should Melissa discover that she can’t continue as previously hoped, would the producers bring back the last pairing? Or would that all depend on the timing of her decision? I guess we’ll just have to wait and see.

Anoop Desai on Life After Idol

Anoop Desai “I am definitely going to pursue a music career,” Anoop Desai announced at the press conference held after his ousting. “Singing is what I am the happiest doing. It’s what I do the best,” he added. Desai, 22, was attending post-graduate courses in North Carolina before his journey to Hollywood.

Now, he’s not going back. Desai has decided to forgo the rest of his classes to concentrate on his music, which he has some pretty clear ideas about already - “pop and R&B” will be featured on his first album.

In the meantime, Desai - along with the rest of the Top 10 - will be a part of the Idol summer tour.

American Idol: Top 12 Revealed

American Idol Top 12

’s Top 12 is a big milestone for the show. It marks the beginning of Ford commercials, brings contestants one step closer to the summer-long Idol tour, and usually symbolizes the cutting away of dead wood. But I’ll go ahead and say it - I’m not pleased with the way it all went down. Let’s re-cap.

The night kicked off with a fantastic performance from Season 6 runner-up , who saucily performed “How Many Words.” He shared a few comments with host Ryan Seacrest before he quickly departed, so that everyone could turn their attentions to twelve empty chairs lined up on the stage.
