Corbin Bernsen will host a new original for GSN, the Game Show Network, starting in 2008. The game show, How Much is Enough, pushes contestants to find out just how strong their own greed is. Four competitors will face off against a ticking clock, each vying to win the biggest bucks with their secret buzzers.
The network ordered forty episodes of the game, which will start airing January 8 at 9 pm ET. How Much is Enough will be part of the channel’s regular lineup Tuesdays through Saturdays. The show marks Bernsen’s first game show hosting attempt. Bernsen currently stars in USA’s Psych, though most fans will remember him for his role on L. A. Law.

Engagement News for Fergie, New York
Despite turning down a proposal from George “Tailor Made” Weisgerber on the recent finale of her show, People is reporting that Tiffany “New York” Pollard recently had a change of heart. After selecting George at the end of I Love New York 2’s second season, Pollard, 25, told her suitor she wanted to wait before agreeing to any nuptials. Although he agreed to wait the requested 24-months, the attention-seeking
lovesick Weisgerber, 32, decided to try again anyway. Fortunately, it turns out the 2nd-time was a charm. (Let’s just hope the same can be said of this engagement; New York’s season one betrothal only lasted a few months.) Fans of the series can witness the awkward/romantic moment for themselves when I Love New York 2’s reunion special airs on January 6.
Meanwhile, another star familiar to the viewers of the cable channel has news of her own to celebrate. Fergie, 2007’s It Girl, just became engaged to actor Josh Duhamel. The Black Eyed Peas singer, 32, and star of Las Vegas, 35, have been together for three years. The couple started dating shortly after she made an appearance on his NBC show.

A Redneck Look at Matrimony
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Reality, Cable, Gossip,
CMT is set to start airing My Big Redneck Wedding, an eight-episode reality series which will feature Tom Arnold at the helm. Each episode will showcase a different redneck wedding, highlighting particularly countrified wedding elements (shotguns, beer cans, etc.). One episode even promises to feature mud wrestling at the wedding reception. (If that doesn’t say redneck, nothing does.) The series will premiere on CMT January 11 at 9:30 pm.
CMT is also behind interesting, funny reality shows like Trick My Truck and the spin-off Trick My Trucker, which offers weight-loss and exercise tips, boot camp style, to out-of-shape drivers.

Don’t Put Yourself in a ‘Paranormal State’
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Reality, Sci-Fi/Horror, Cable, Editorial,
Turn to the SciFi network, even the Travel Channel, and you’ll find shows that take you behind the world of plain reality TV and into the unknown. Sure, it’s easy to be skeptical. It’s easy to be a cynic. What’s it not easy to do is believe – not when you’re dealing with television, a vehicle concerned with big ratings and special effects. But A&E’s Paranormal State has already turned some non-believers into paranormal investigators…whether they wanted it that way or not.
Executives and show producers involved with the documentary series have said they’ve witnessed paranormal activity for themselves by virtue of their involvement with the show. Reports include EVP (electronic voice phenomenon), otherworldly mists, and cold chills. The series debuted last week, becoming the most-watched premiere for the cable channel in the last 3 years. Undoubtedly some of those numbers arrive from an overall lack of television choices, the result of the ongoing writers’ strike.
The entire crew wore St. Benedict medals (which were dipped in “holy water”) while shooting. Good thinking. If a ghost comes after me with a glint in its eye, I’m going to reach right for the nearest talisman. That oughtta help. One person tied to the series calls it “emotional and compelling and real.” Pardon my cynicism, but we are still talking about a TV show here. Like the news, reality TV has to worry about ratings, too.

Here are the most notable omissions/additions in this year’s list of television honorees:
- Damages and Longford led the pack with 4 nominations each.
- James Gandolfini and The Sopranos were both left out of the races (though Edie Falco did get a nod).
- Three of the nominees for best TV Comedy (Entourage, Extras, Californation) came from pay-cable networks.
- Past faves (Desperates Housewives, Heroes, Ugly Betty) were nowhere to be found. (Though America Ferrera did earn a nod for her individual achievement.)

Scott Baio….No Longer Single
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Prime Time, Reality, Cable, Gossip,
As we mentioned back in August, Charles in Charge’s Scott Baio had enough personal issues to fill another season of reality programming. Now we have a better idea what we will see when his life unfolds for the cameras again next month.
The famous playboy, and star of Scott Baio is 45…and Single, had spent the duration of his summer VH1 show trying to figure out if he was finally ready for marriage. With the help of a life coach, Baio dealt with a myriad of issues from his past relationships. Although he was known for cheating on most of his high-profile romances, it truly seemed that he was on the road to commitment by the series’ final episode. Unfortunately, that was also when his girlfriend, Renee Sloan, decided to drop a bombshell on him: he was gonna be a daddy.
Several months later, Scott is now the father of a baby girl…and a newlywed. The nuptials - which took place in Los Angeles just this past weekend - will be documented in Season 2 when it premieres this January. No word yet whether the show will be retitled to reflect Baio’s current status.
