American Idol 8: Top 7 Results, the Sequel
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Music, Prime Time, Reality, FOX, American Idol, Gossip, Video,

For the second Top 7 results night of American Idol, there was a grim feeling in the air. Two, rather than the usual one, would sing their final Idol note at the end of the evening. But which of them would it be?
It is not the first double elimination Idol has ever done; nor is it the first late-season double elimination to occur. The show pulled a similar stunt for the first year of Idol Gives Back.
The first clip of the night featured the Top 7 with Paula Abdul, who taught them the choreography for their group number this week. They all wore sunglasses and weird fashions, but this was actually one of the better group numbers I’ve seen. The choreography was quite good - and never has it been said that I’m a fan of Paula Abdul. We have to give the devil her due on this one - Abdul did a better job than all the others who have choreographed the group numbers this season. “I’m so proud of you guys!” She smiled when it was all said and done.
The Ford video featured different occupations - pastry chef, construction worker, dog groomer - and was as poor as I’ve come to expect.

American Idol 8: Top 7 Perform - Again!
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Music, Prime Time, Reality, FOX, American Idol, Gossip, Video,
The second Top 7 performance round of American Idol 8 opened with a tribute to Matt Giraud and the judges’ save. Now, two performers from Tuesday’s songfest will be sent home on the following results night.
Ryan Seacrest spoke of this and not much else as he made quick introductions. He then stepped aside and left the stage to the evening’s first performer.
It was disco night on Idol, and Lil Rounds kicked it off with Chaka Khan. She sounded a little off right at the start, but soon enough Lil found her stride. This song has been performed on Idol in the past and it’s almost always a mistake. I’m not sure Lil’s placement and vocal performance will help her when it comes to the results show. However, she looked absolutely stunning. Randy Jackson thought she “got the party started” but felt Lil sounded “a little wild.” Kara DioGuardi agreed with Randy. Paula Abdul jumped to Lil’s defense, pointing out that only the day before the performance she was on vocal rest. “It was a remarkable recovery,” she enthused. “Oh, Lil, you look so sad,” Simon Cowell sighed. Lil grinned back that she “had fun tonight.” “I think this is gonna be the last week we’re ever going to see you,” Cowell voiced a grim prediction.

Video: Simon Cowell Talks Ryan Seacrest, Kara DioGuardi, Idol Contract

Place the always blunt Simon Cowell on a program that airs late, late at night and what do you get? A very relaxed, humorous and somewhat revealing interview with the American Idol judge.
During his sit-down last night with Craig Ferguson, the Brit first likened frenemy Ryan Seacrest to a “sausage dog.” (Cowell would, of course, be considered the bigger German Shepherd.) When the Late Late Show host joked about the analogy, the 49-year-old quickly laughed it off and said “not that kind.” He did, though, continue to compare Ryan to one of those annoying “little dogs” gets on your leg and “does all that stuff” to get your attention. (Thank you for that visual image.)

Perez Hilton Responds to Miss California Controversy
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Prime Time, Reality, Talk Shows, Cable, Gossip, Video,

Gossip blogger and sometime Miss USA judge Perez Hilton, who created a firestorm of controversy around the normally sedate pageant, clarified his position during an appearance on Larry King Live.
Hilton became the most talked-about moment of the contest when he asked Miss California, Carrie Prejean, if she believes all states should ratify gay marriage, as Vermont did recently. Miss Prejean expressed the view that marriage ought to be between a man and a woman.
And as they say, the issue hit the fan. Perez responded with an angry video on his blog, Miss Prejean has been all over the media and almost no one is talking about the fact that Miss North Carolina went on to win the whole show (Miss California of the controversial answer finished as the overall runner-up).

Shaheen Jafargholi: Britain’s Got Talent’s Newest Star
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Music, Reality, Video,

Could Susan Boyle already be 5 minutes ago?
The 48-year-old Britain’s Got Talent contestant may have floored the audience with her cover of “I Dream a Dream,” but she didn’t receive what Shaheen Jafargholi got: a standing ovation from all three judges. (Yes, even one from Simon Cowell.)
Although it didn’t initially look good for the 12-year-old (Cowell interrupted his rendition of Amy Winehouse’s “Valerie”), the young boy brought the house down with his performance of the Jackson 5’s “Who’s Loving You.” Watch that clip here and see what a difference the right song makes.

Perez Hilton vs. Miss California
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Prime Time, Reality, Gossip, Video,
In what is sure to be the most talked-about moment of the Miss USA pageant, Perez Hilton fired a question to Miss California. Her answer caused the audience to boo and put Perez in a serious snit.
Perez, one of the judges of the event, asked Miss Cali (her actual name, by the way, is Carrie Prejean) about the issue of same-sex marriage, citing Vermont’s recent ruling to allow same-sex marriage licenses in the state. He asked the contestant if she thought every state should follow Vermont’s example, or if they should not - and why.

| Space Module: Colbert - Sunita Williams | ||||

Okay - so it didn’t go exactly like he had hoped. But Stephen Colbert’s efforts weren’t entirely in vain.
On last night’s episode of The Colbert Report, astronaut Sunita Williams crushed Stephen’s dreams when she announced the official name of NASA’s new space module. Instead of calling the node “Colbert,” the administration instead opted for “Tranquility.”
But to appease the disappointed host and all his voters, the administration made sure to name something after him. Now astronauts at the space station will “jump on” a “C.O.L.B.E.R.T.” every day. To find out exactly what that is, cue the video to the 3:41 mark.

Note to all the live talent out there: If someone tells you “I’m passing out,” that means they’re about to…pass out.
Earlier today on FOX News, a guest gave Glenn Beck a new topic to talk abut during his segment. Watch at approximately the 1:20 mark as David Buckner, a professor at Columbia University, announces his fate. (Then watch how long it takes the floor director to step in.)
Beck later told an apologetic Buckner: “I’m like ‘are you kidding me, the ratings will be through the roof!’”

SNL Video: Zac Efron on Life After High School Musical

Want to know why Zac Efron is taking a break from musicals? Because he’s experienced a cold dose of reality.
On last night’s episode of Saturday Night Live, Troy Bolton told East High’s current senior class what life is really like post-graduation. Apparently the ability to break into song is not a useful social skill.
