American Idol Snubs MySpace Contestants
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Music, Prime Time, Reality, FOX, American Idol, Gossip, Video,
American Idol has opened up the Internet as a viable auditioning option for the first time ever in Season 10 - giving singers who haven’t the means, time or money to travel to one of the audition cities the chance to compete.
Here’s the rub: if they do get accepted for a callback, the MySpace singers have to fly to LA on their own dime. The show that makes millions of dollars just for using the Coca-Cola symbol every chance they get won’t even foot the bill for their own contestants.

VIDEO: Elmo Requests New Play Date with Katy Perry
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Daytime, Kids, Music, PBS, Video,
On today’s Good Morning America broadcast, Sesame Street‘s executive producer explained why Katy Perry’s segment with Elmo was pulled from the kid-friendly program.
“We would never produce anything that we thought was inappropriate,” Carol-Lynne Parente said about the clip which featured a questionably-dressed Perry. “We were surprised by not only the amount of feedback, but how fast it came in. It was a lot.”
“Sesame Street has a long history. We have a great interactive relationship with our viewers, especially parents,” Parente insisted. “So we viewed a lot of feedback and made what we thought was an appropriate decision.”

Quote of the Day: Patrick Swayze’s Widow on DWTS’ Jennifer Grey

“A friend asked me if I thought Jennifer was being sincere, and I said absolutely. I thought she was sincere. There’s got to be some part of her that knows it will help her chances a little bit. But does that cancel out whether she really does care? No, it doesn’t. I think her feelings are very true and at the same time, I think she’s going to win!”

$#*! My Dad Says Poses DVR Problems
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Comedy, Prime Time, CBS, DVR, News, Video,
Curious to know whether the CBS series $#*! My Dad Says is as hilarious as the Twitter feed it’s based upon? Then you might want to double-check your TiVo now.
Although network execs thought symbols would be the smartest way to get around the profanity in the comedy’s real title, they probably didn’t take into account DVRs when they came up with the name. Even if viewers could remember the exact way CBS chose to arrange the characters, they probably wouldn’t be able to find them on their recording devices.
This is why CBS has now provided us with instructions.

VIDEO: Jane Lynch Promotes Members Project
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Comedy, Commercials, Video,
Somewhere in the midst of all the singing and drama on the second season premiere of Glee, Jane Lynch appeared in full Sue Sylvester mode, via the new Members Project commercial from American Express.
Wearing her now-compulsory tracksuit, Lynch-as-Sue delivered fabulous one-liners like “What do animals do, except poop on your lawn and make you feel guilty about how delicious they are?” and “Sure, I’ll take a stand…for as long as it takes me to find a comfy chair.”
At the end of the ad spot, the image goes dark. The words “Don’t Be a Sue” encourage everyone to take part in the Project, and “do something good.”

Katy Perry Deemed Too Hot for Sesame Street
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Daytime, Kids, PBS, News, Video,
UPDATE: See Elmo invite Katy Perry back to Sesame Street here.
When we first saw “Hot N Cold” singer Katy Perry performing with Elmo earlier this week, we couldn’t help but comment on her cleavage-baring dress. Apparently we weren’t the only ones.
“In light of the feedback we’ve received on the Katy Perry music video which was released on YouTube only, we have decided we will not air the segment on the television broadcast of Sesame Street, which is aimed at preschoolers,” Sesame Workshop said in a statement.
Perry, who recently saw fiance Russell Brand arrested in Los Angeles, once again used Twitter to respond to the news. “Wow, looks like my play date with Elmo has been cut short! If you still wanna play see it at www.katyperry.com Tag you’re it, Elmo!” Perry wrote.

VIDEO: Joaquin Phoenix Cleans Up for Letterman
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Late Night, Talk Shows, CBS, Video,
David Letterman definitely knew something was off. But despite what his writer previously reported, he did not know what Joaquin Phoenix was up to last year.
That’s why I’m Still Here actor – who reunited with Letterman Wednesday for the first time since February 2009 – felt it necessary to make amends for his little stunt.
“I think that you’ve interviewed many, many people and I assumed that you would know the difference between a character and a real person, so… But I apologize. I didn’t.. I hope I didn’t offend you in any way,” the two-time Oscar nominee said.
“Oh, no – oh, no, no, no, I was not offended,” Letterman replied. “I’m telling you, it was so much fun. It was batting practice, you know what I mean? Every one of them was a dinger.”
“Well, we’d hoped to come on a talk show and I was looking for a beat down, and I got one ... I want to thank you for that,” Phoenix laughed.

Although True Blood is set in Louisiana and Mad Men is set in New York, the two shows do have one locale in common: Sesame Street.
Last year, the famous PBS series parodied the advertising execs from Madison Avenue in an emotional sketch. Now, the
grouches of Bon Temps will get their turn in the spotlight in a segment titled “True Mud.” (Make sure to keep an eye out for Lafayette!)
Season 41 of Sesame Street will kick off on September 27.
