Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Music, Prime Time, Reality, FOX, American Idol, Gossip, Video,
The tenth season of American Idol doesn’t premiere until January, but there’s no reason you should have to go without. The online auditions, an Idol first which was just implemented this year, are available for public viewing. Why wait to hear all the terrible singing…and, if you’re lucky, that rare moment of brilliance?
Of course, you won’t be hearing any soul-crushing feedback from Simon Cowell…but neither will any other Idol fans. View the video above to get just a small taste of what you’ll be hearing when you watch the online auditions.
Parents who absolutely don’t want their kids to
expose themselves may take advantage of the “Parent Takedown” link, which provides a short, pop-up form requesting video removal.

Jon Stewart, Stephen Colbert Announce D.C. Rallies
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Comedy, Talk Shows, Cable, Daily Show, The, Gossip, Video,
Jon Stewart, who has been hinting around about it for over a week, made a momentous announcement on the Thursday episode of The Daily Show. The Comedy Central funnyman announced his Rally to Restore Sanity, which will be held at the Washington, D.C. National Mall on October 30, 2010.
Stephen Colbert, as promised, made his own announcement on The Colbert Report, which follows Stewart’s show. Colbert’s rally is, of course, the March to Keep Fear Alive. “Now is not the time to take it down a notch. Now is the time for all good men to freak out for freedom,” Colbert explained.
The National Park Service has confirmed that Colbert and Stewart submitted an application for the grounds in front of the Washington Monument for the date of the dueling rallies, though the permit is not yet finalized.
In a poll, Time magazine named Stewart “America’s most trusted newscaster” following Walter Cronkite’s 2009 death.

Earlier this week, TV Envy had the opportunity to chat with actress Molly Ringwald—star of Sixteen Candles and The Breakfast Club – on a variety of subjects including her new book (Getting the Pretty Back), teen pregnancy in Hollywood, her Pretty in Pink dress, reality TV and her connection to another famous redhead.
In addition, Ringwald talked to us about her recent partnership with Ragu. The working mother of three explains why she teamed up with the famous brand and how the company’s Old World Style sauces play a role in her family’s nutrition. (Those who visit Ragu’s Facebook page can also hear Molly talking about her mealtime tips there. Cooking demos and simple recipes are also available.)
Molly can currently be seen on The Secret Life of the American Teenager. That ABC Family series is in the middle of its third season.

Preview Kate Winslet and Evan Rachel Wood in Mildred Pierce
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Drama, Mini Series, Cable, HBO, Video,
Could this be the event that brings viewers back to HBO?
Early next year, Oscar winner Kate Winslet will be featured in Mildred Pierce, a five-part miniseries based on the James Cain novel. (Joan Crawford won an Academy Award for her role in a 1945 adaptation.) The Depression-era set tale centers on Pierce (Winslet), a mother who fights to maintain a middle-class position for her family, and the troubled relationship with her daughter (True Blood‘s Evan Rachel Wood).
Mildred—directed by Far From Heaven‘s Todd Haynes—will debut in the spring.

VIDEO: Julia Stiles Talks Season 5 of Dexter
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Drama, Prime Time, Sci-Fi/Horror, Cable, Showtime, Video,
Although we’re still not clear what Julia Stiles will be doing in the upcoming season of Dexter, we understand why the actress is “giddy with excitement” over her new role.
Despite being “horrible with gore,” Stiles signed on to play “Lumen” – a woman that’s being described as “psychologically and physically damaged.” (As if we’d expect anything less from a character on that show.)
So how will Lumen figure into all of Dexter Morgan’s mounting problems? Find out when the program returns to Showtime on September 26.

Joaquin Phoenix and David Letterman to Reunite
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Late Night, Talk Shows, CBS, Video,
A lot can change in a person’s life in just 19 months—as David Letterman (and his wife) would know. But how has the past year and a half treated Joaquin Phoenix?
Well, we may get an answer to that question when the Oscar nominee returns to the Late Show next week. That’s when Phoenix—who made a memorably awkward appearance on that program in Feb. 2009—is scheduled to promote his film I’m Still Here.
If Joaquin still isn’t the mood to speak, maybe Dave could at least get Phoenix to do a rap? You better set your TiVos for September 22 just in case.

We’ve managed to obtain a video of the Glee Season 2 sneak peek that was released on iTunes, and we’re sharing it.
The small snippet is filled with funny quips featuring two of the show’s greatest rivals: Will Schuester (Matthew Morrison) and Sue Sylvester (Jane Lynch). The Cheerios captain is back in fighting form, and manages to get in a zinger mocking the New Directions Regionals loss in less than 90 seconds (ouch!).
View the whole thing in the video above - no iPhone necessary.
