Jay Leno’s Second Tonight Show Debut
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Comedy, Late Night, NBC, Video,
Jay Leno opened his return to The Tonight Show with a Wizard of Oz montage which featured a surprise cameo from Betty White. He would need the star power, as his guest list for the night wasn’t all that amazing.
“I’m Jay Leno, your host. At least for a while,” he shot his opening volley, made a reference to “Dave” Letterman and “Oprah” Winfrey and made a few fast-paced Olympic quips. Leno’s not looking so hot, his lightning-speed timing is hard to follow and you’ve got to wonder how long he’s going to last as the Tonight host.
No monologue references to Conan O’Brien, which may or may not have been a mistake. His Tiger Woods jokes, albeit rather old news at this point, were pretty good.

Thursday Ratings: Olympics Coverage Skates to Victory

American Idol‘s first results show of the season wasn’t strong enough to compete with the action in Vancouver. Coverage of the women’s figure skating finals helped NBC defeat FOX in the viewers and demos once again.
8pm
- The Olympic Games (22.5 million, 5.8/16 in 18-49) fell 2.8 million from last Thursday.
- Approximately 17.8 million watched the first four eliminations on American Idol (6.4/17).
- Survivor (11.5 million, 3.7/10) only lost 400,000.
- The Deep End (1.1/3) ended its run with 3.9 million.

Will Ferrell might not be interested in visiting The Tonight Show anytime soon, but there are plenty of other celebrities who are still willing to promote themselves
support Jay Leno.
Based on the star-studded list released by NBC, Leno’s booking department is having an easy time finding guests for his return to late night—but will the viewers actually be tuning in to watch them?
Check out the names after the jump and let us know if you’ll be welcoming back Jay.

Preview Kathy Griffin’s Appearance on SVU
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Drama, Prime Time, NBC, Gossip, Spoilers, Video,
Kathy Griffin has always been vocal about loving her “gays,” so it’s only appropriate that she defend them in primetime.
On next Wednesday’s episode of Law & Order: SVU, the comedienne will guest as Babs Duffy - the president, founder, spokeswoman of a lesbian-rights organization. Despite the serious tone of the drama, Griffin still manages to infuse a bit of her famous humor and salty language in the scenes included here. (She also gets a chance to check out A.D.A. Alexandra Cabot.)
For the full episode, make sure your DVRs are set to 10:00 on March 3—SVU‘s new hour. (Thanks, Jay!)

Wednesday Ratings: Idol Takes Back the Night
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Comedy, Drama, Music, Prime Time, Reality, Specials, Sports, ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC, The CW, American Idol, Ratings,
American Idol may have lost to the Winter Olympics last Wednesday, but there is no way the program would let that happen two weeks in a row. Yesterday’s performances from the Top 12 men helped the program take back the viewers and the demos.
8pm
- American Idol (22.8 million, 8.6/23 in 18-49) was still down 2.2 million from one week ago.
- The Vancouver Olympics (19.5 million, 5.2/14) plunged by 9.8 million.
- The New Adventures of Old Christine* (4.4 million, 1.1/3) lost 500,000.
- Modern Family* (3.9 million, 1.2/3) fell by 1.2 million.
- The Middle* (4 million, 1.4/4) gave up 800,000.
- Gary Unmarried* (3.4 million, 0.9/2) shaved off 1 million.
- Life Unexpected* (1 million, 0.4/1) slid by 300,000.

Tuesday Ratings: Lost Raises Its Game
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Drama, Music, Prime Time, Reality, Sci-Fi/Horror, Specials, Sports, ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC, The CW, American Idol, Lost, Ratings,
Okay, so it didn’t make a significant jump. But given the music and sports competition, Lost should be happy with its slight bump last night. It’s all about the little things, right?
8pm
- Approximately 24 million watched ladies’ night on American Idol (8.9/22 in 18-49).
- The Vancouver Games (6.1/17) had 22.1 million doing triple Axels.
- NCIS* (11.5 million, 2.3/6) did about the same.
- Lost* (4.4 million, 1.6/4) added on 200,000.
- 90210* (0.3/1) settled for 780,500.

Monday Ratings: Minor Slip for Winter Games
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Action, Comedy, Drama, Prime Time, Reality, Specials, Sports, ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC, The CW, 24, House, Ratings,
Are viewers simply not interested in ice dancing? Or were they simply caught up in The Bachelor? Whatever the reason, last night’s coverage got beat by 2006’s Torino games for the first time since the Vancouver edition started.
8pm
- The Winter Olympics (21.1 million, 5.4/14 in 18-49) was off 1.4 million from four years ago.
- The Bachelor special (11.2 million, 3.9/10) only lost 300,000.
- House* (6.1 million, 2.1/6) fell by 700,000.
- How I Met Your Mother* (6.1 million, 2.2/6) gave up 300,000.
- Accidentally on Purpose* (5.3 million, 1.9/5) shaved off 200,000.
- One Tree Hill (2.2 million, 1.0/3) raised another 300,000.
