UPDATE: White will be appearing on May 8 with Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, Molly Shannon, Maya Rudolph, Ana Gasteyer and Rachel Dratch.
It looks like NBC has struck (comedic) gold.
Over the weekend, actress Betty White confirmed to People magazine that she will indeed be appearing on Saturday Night Live. Her booking comes just over two months after a Facebook campaign was launched on her behalf.
“I don’t know why or how,” White said about the fan support, “but it’s been wonderful.”
Although Entertainment Weekly previously reported that she would be involved in a “Women of Comedy”-themed broadcast, the 88-year-old did not elaborate on her upcoming stint.

Thursday Ratings: NBC Showered with Good News
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Comedy, Drama, Food & Home, Music, Prime Time, Reality, Sci-Fi/Horror, ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC, The CW, American Idol, Grey’s Anatomy, Survivor, The Office, Ratings,
Hey NBC - primetime might actually survive in the post-Jay Leno world after all. Last night’s arrival of Jim and Pam’s baby on The Office delivered something the network hadn’t seen before, a victory over Grey’s Anatomy in the demos. That one-hour special lead into another nice win for the network. The Marriage Ref‘s time slot debut also defeated the competition in the 18-49s.
8pm
- American Idol (19.3 million, 6.5/19 in 18-49) still had the best numbers of the evening.
- Survivor (12.7 million, 3.8/11) picked up 1.2 million more.
- Community (2.3/7) kicked off the night with 5.1 million.
- A Grey’s Anatomy* repeat (1.2/3) turned in 5 million.
- Parks and Recreation (4.6 million, 2.3/6) lost part of its lead-in.
- The Vampire Diaries* (0.7/2) checked in 1.7 million.

NBC Claims Sarah Palin Needed No Laugh Track
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Comedy, Late Night, Talk Shows, NBC, Gossip, Video,
Depending on which camp you’re in, you either found Sarah Palin‘s monologue during Tuesday’s Tonight Show to be funny—or reports of NBC using a laugh track to be even funnier.
Although an “audience member” from that taping - who supposedly has experience as sound engineer - insists the broadcast’s volume was pumped up, the network’s execs deny the claim.
“Neither the audio nor the laughs were enhanced for Sarah Palin’s segments on The Tonight Show,” NBC said in a statement.
After watching this clip from Palin’s open, let us know what you think. Did her jokes deserve that much laughter?

Wednesday Ratings: Oprah Winfrey Special Anything But
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Comedy, Drama, Music, Prime Time, Reality, ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC, The CW, American Idol, Ratings,
Don’t be fooled—Oprah Winfrey doesn’t always have the Midas touch. Despite the A-list filled roster, yesterday’s Oprah Winfrey Oscar Special failed to dazzle. The program came in last during its hour and did worse than the last original Ugly Betty episode.
8pm
- American Idol (23.5 million, 8.5/23 in 18-49) added on 700,000 more.
- The New Adventures of Old Christine (1.7/5) and Gary Unmarried (2.0/5) both pulled in 6 million.
- Mercy (1.6/5) also raised 6 million.
- Approximately 6 million watched The Middle (2.1/6) as well.
- A Modern Family* repeat (1.7/5) scored 5.2 million.
- Life Unexpected* (1.1 million, 0.5/1) did about the same as last week.

Tuesday Ratings: So-So Start for Parenthood
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Drama, Music, Prime Time, Reality, Sci-Fi/Horror, ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC, The CW, American Idol, Lost, Ratings,
Endless promos during the Winter Olympics didn’t exactly result in large numbers for Parenthood. Although NBC’s new drama did have a small victory in the demos, the program was still a far second with the viewers.
8pm

- NCIS (4.1/11) returned to 19.7 million.
- The Biggest Loser (3.2/8) raised 8.3 million.
- Lost* (1.6/4) recapped 4.3 million.
