Ghost Hunters Jason and GrantEver wonder how real life conduct their paranormal investigations? At-home viewers can tag along with Jason, Grant and the team from TAPS this Halloween as they investigate Waverly Manor in Louisville, Kentucky. It’s called one of the most haunted places on Earth, and it’s my hometown.

The original series Ghost Hunters debuted in October 2004, taking a cynical approach to a business that’s usually filled with mediums and psychics. Jason and Grant, founders of TAPS (The Atlantic Paranormal Society) do not claim to have special talents or an affinity for the dead. They are simply plumbers for Roto Rooter, men who set out to debunk and disprove claims of paranormal activity. Using technical equipment and sharp eyes, the Ghost Hunters do their best to prove that places are not haunted.

TV Land logoNow here’s a reality competition I can appreciate. You see, I’m a 30-something and… well, I feel old. It doesn’t help to see all of these young whippersnappers on television either. For example, I feel completely disconnected from the issues that plague the recent housemates on —I’m just not tuned in to what they’re going through. In fact, I’m on a different frequency altogether. So, is tapping into a new reality niche with their reality series, . Twenty female contestants over 35 years old will compete for a modeling contract with Wilhelmina Models. Plus they’ll land a photo spread in Self magazine, which is one of those “real” women kind of mags (OK, I’m a subscriber, I admit it). Supermodel Kim Alexis, who is in her 40s, hosts the series, with judging duties upheld by supermodel Beverly Johnson, Wilhelmina president Sean Patterson and Robert Verdi, celebrity stylist. TV Land president Larry Jones said of the series, “Real women in their 40s and 50s are too often overlooked in the scope of the TV landscape. TV Land’s goal is to tell the rich stories of these striking women in a fun and entertaining way.” The show is expected to air on TV Land in summer 2008.

Candice Michelle off to the hospital

Another one bites the dust on Monday Night RAW. And once again it is a member of the main event RAW roster who goes down with an injury. Poor Candice Michelle. After raving about her abilities last week in my RAW reflections, the sexy women’s division main eventer went down mid-match with an injury. Even so, she still had one of the best matches on this week’s RAW. In my opinion, the Candice Michelle vs. Beth Phoenix best two out of three falls match for the WWE Women’s Championship was the best match of the night. The crowd seemed to be way into it, it was faced pace and the wrestling was solid - it was one of the best women’s match-ups I’ve seen in a long time. And then it happened. Candice climbed to the top turnbuckle and Phoenix hit the ropes, obviously trying to “crotch” Candice in the corner. Instead, it seemed Candice blew the spot, slipping on the ropes, twisting slightly and landing face and shoulder first into the canvas.

Read more about Candice’s injury, the next SAVE_US.222 teaser and after the jump.

Scrubs

MONDAY (10/22)

**No new episode of Ellen today.  She’s still recovering from all the doggy drama**

  • Live With Regis and Kelly (ABC, syndicated):  will be pulling double-duty this week as he fills in for Regis Philbin in NY and tapes his show in LA.  (I’m guessing we’ll still be seeing him on as well.)  If we’re lucky, Guillermo will fill in for Gelman too.
  • Prison Break (FOX, 8pm):  The show returns tonight after being preempted by baseball last week.  What?  You don’t care either?
  • Heroes (NBC, 9pm):  Many fans have been waiting for Kristen Bell’s debut tonight.  Unfortunately, she’s one more new character I’ll have to ignore.

Jon StewartYesterday, after I posted about the new Daily Show website, I went over and tried to find some of my favorite clips. Only, I couldn’t get it to load. Seems other rabid fans were jamming up the works and so I was left broken hearted. I did check in later last night and was able to find a favorite clip, so life is good again. And life is great for , who has extended his contract with . Under the extension, he will continue to host the show through 2010. Ahh. Let’s all take a collective sigh of relief… although could you really expect him to go anywhere just yet? And Stewart is pleased as well, saying, “I love doing this show. I feel like I work with and for the best in the business. I look forward to using this extension to having great fun at President Colbert’s expense.” Stewart is, of course, riding high with both ‘s and ‘s success, and will have a new show from his Busboy Productions Inc., called Important Things with Demetri Martin. The man is no slouch, that’s for sure.

VH1 LogoTaking a page out of A&E’s book, VH1 has reunited former pop/R&B legends Salt ‘N’ Pepa. The trio (which once included Spinderella) enjoyed mega success with hits like “What a Man,” “Push It,” and “Let’s Talk About Sex.” Then, suddenly, Salt ‘N’ Pepa vanished. In case anyone was wondering what happened to them, now you’ve got the chance.

VH1 is the esteemed power behind such shows as America’s Most Smartest Model, and don’t forget this is the cable network that brought us Flavor Flav. But don’t let that turn you off Salt ‘N’ Pepa, because you probably couldn’t avoid them even if you tried.

In a rare and surprising twist for VH1, actual musical performers (and get this-–music) are being featured on the new show. Some of the scenes between these former best friends are surprisingly touching and heartfelt, and viewers get a real sense of how very different these two spicy performers are. Salt is a mother and attends church, regularly performing gospel versions of her former hit songs. Pepa is also a mother but still loves being sexy, throwing herself into each performance with the energy fans once loved.

Haven’t seen the debut episode? Never fear-–VH1 is running it repeatedly, a pleasant change from shows like I Love New York and Rock of Love.
