On Gear Live: Apple’s M5 Chip Made the MacBook Pro Unstoppable!

Ricky Gervais I’m sensing a pattern here with Extras show creators Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant. Much like their smash hit The Office (the original Brit version, mind you), their latest series will end after just two seasons, but wrap things up with a special episode. Not that we should be surprised—after all, they did announce that they wouldn’t be filming a third season of the HBO series that follows film extra Andy Millman (played brilliantly by Gervais) and his escapades as he tries to make his big break. The second season looked at Andy’s sad-sack existence after he landed a role on a mediocre sitcom. Pity about this series ending, however, is that it never failed to deliver big-name cameos: Kate Winslet, Orlando Bloom, Daniel Radcliffe, Sir Ian McKellan, David Bowie, and Robert De Niro, among others. The one hour Extras special will begin shooting next month, but the specifics about an airdate have yet to be released. Carolyn Strauss, president of HBO Entertainment, said of the series, “It’s been an honor to present this hilarious series on HBO. I can’t wait to see how Ricky and Stephen will wrap up the saga of Andy Millman.”

Paula Abdul Let me first say that while it is not a quality show by any means, Hey Paula has given me exactly what I was hoping for:  a train wreck that I can count on.

And while I curse Paula Abdul weekly for being ditzy, overly emotional and sometimes rude (especially to her assistants)...I applaud her for opening up and showing us her true character.  Though I’m sure the actual results are much different from what I’m assuming she intended.

Nicole Richie  Sources close to have confirmed that the tabloid rumors and media speculation are true: The Simple Life star will be expecting a child. For weeks, the press has filled the pages of magazines with pictures of an increasingly thickening Richie, questioning the telltale bump that’s formed on her midsection. Pictures of Richie hand-in-hand with rocker boyfriend Joel Madden are everywhere, and though neither star has confirmed (nor outright denied) the existence of a child, everyone is reporting that she’s pregnant. Looks like strollers and late nights are in Nicole’s future, only this time it isn’t all for reality TV.

Wayne BradyWith the recent announcements of a number of celeb divorces, it seems no one can stay together in Hollywood anymore. Case in point—two guys who have seemingly gotten too big for their britches, Johnny Knoxville and Wayne Brady. The Jackass star and his wife of 12 years, Melanie Lynn Clapp, just split, citing “irreconcilable differences.” The couple has an 11-year-old daughter, whom Knoxville is seeking joint custody. Wayne Brady, formerly of Who’s Line is it Anyway? and his wife are also heading to divorce court. Soon-to-be-ex Mandie Brady filed for divorce, although no reason was stated publicly. She is trying to secure joint legal and physical custody of their 4-year-old daughter, Maile. Add another divorce to the list—illusionist Criss Angel and his wife (who nobody seemed to know about, by the way) are in a messy legal battle—she’s suing him for divorce, saying that he had an affair with Cameron Diaz and stopped providing financial support. This one is definitely going to get interesting in the coming weeks, no doubt.

Nicole RichieOften the source of tabloid fodder, has remained on magazines because the world seems obsessed with her weight. Pictures of an emaciated-looking Nicole have appeared in every major supermarket, along with bold headlines that pondered the possibility of an eating disorder. No matter what happens in her personal life (like using her winning ways to tempt Joel Madden away from former famous tween queen ), the headlines always go back to one thing: Richie’s waistline. Now, a slight bulge on her midsection has everyone talking again. Could it be that Nicole Richie, famous socialite and reality TV star, is pregnant? Sure, if anyone would make a great mother, wouldn’t it be her?

Blue Collar Comedy TourJust what the world needs: another beer. Git-R-Done beer had been launched by SchillingBridge Winery& MicroBrewery, a company in the small town where Larry the Cable Guy grew up. Git-R-Done is a light beer with plenty of flavor and body, according to brewery spokespeople. The Cable Guy visited the brewery in July 2005 to approve these beer efforts. The phrase “git-r-done” is a catchphrase popularized by the comedian, who uses a particular brand of “redneck” comedy and jokes to get his funny messages across. Larry the Cable guy first shot to stardom thanks to The Blue Collar Comedy Tour, a movie as well as a series on cable‘s Comedy Central, but it’s his catchphrase that everyone remembers and repeats - endlessly.

DescriptionVH1 is bringing back the World Series of Pop Culture for a second season this summer, promising more obscure trivia, more teams of three, and more money to give away. Though VH1 has been known for coming up with some real bombs in the past (what exactly is the deal with Charm School?), the World Series of Pop Culture last year offered a bevy of interesting trivia and quite a few teams that were almost impossible to root for. Will this year’s competitors hold more appeal?

Anderson CooperDid you hear that 3.2 million viewers tuned in to watch the Larry King interview with Paris Hilton? Sadly, I was one of those 3.2 million (and I am in no way proud of that). OK, so I was reading at the same time, so the interview didn’t have my undivided attention. Nor should it. I’m surprised that they could even stretch an hour out of the whole thing. Seems there wasn’t much to say, but I did like how Larry asked her what her favorite bible passage was and she said she didn’t have a favorite. Classic. Anyway, onto Anderson Cooper, with his 360 following the interview. Poor Cooper was forced to dissect the interview with a panel of experts and it was obviously painful for him. I think it was more worthwhile to tune into Cooper’s uncomfortable play-by-play than to watch the actual interview itself. The story seemed to be of little importance to him, but he had to begin with this disclaimer, “We can’t be above the news of the moment.” From that intro, you knew he wasn’t going to have his heart in the game. At one point he commented, “Well, you know, I know, I don’t really, I don’t understand her. I don’t understand her appeal, I don’t understand what she’s done.” Classic. I’ve been a big fan of Anderson since his days of hosting the reality show The Mole. Ah, dry wit. How I love thee.

Paris Hilton  In her first public appearance since being released from jail, multi-millionaire heiress sat down in an intimate setting with Larry King, lots of TV cameras, and a live studio audience to discuss her changed outlook on life and how she’s adapting to freedom once more. She was expecting to be sentenced to community service, not jail, the day she walked into court to receive her sentencing for probation violations. Paris, clad in white, told King that she went through a really traumatic experience, and that she suffered from nightmares while incarcerated. King asked Hilton about the mysterious “medical condition” that led to her one-day respite from jail. Paris explained that she’s claustrophobic, and has been taking medication for attention deficit disorder since the age of 12. She further explained that she suffered severe panic attacks while in her cell, and the house-arrest idea was all a doctor’s recommendation.
