Family Guy’s Fate on FOX

Family GuyHome of the nation’s number one show, 20th Century Fox will soon be paying one of their writer/producers one of the biggest salaries in TV. Here’s the twist: that person doesn’t work on .

Seth MacFarlane, creator of and American Dad, will become the best-paid writer/producer on TV thanks to his new contract. The agreement ensures that Family Guy will remain on the air until 2012, but it also covers a few other projects still in the till. Under the terms of the contract, MacFarlane will continue to pen episodes of American Dad as well as The Cleveland Show (a planned Family Guy spinoff). “I get a lot of pleasure out of making show,” said MacFarlane to the press. “It’s a bonus to get getting paid well for it, and it’s a double bonus to be getting paid exorbitantly for it.” The amount in question remains undisclosed, though it is expected to soar above the $60 million, five-year contract offered to J.J. Abrams (Lost) in 2006.

The story of this animated underdog (Family Guy has the trouble of being on the same network as ridiculously long-running cartoon hit ) is the stuff of TV legend. It first hit the air in 1999 and was promptly canceled in 2000. Fans led a revolt and the show was renewed for two more seasons until cancellation again in 2002. Syndicated episodes of the show made it to Cartoon Network, and suddenly Family Guy became a hot commodity again. DVD sales soared and FOX, a network which never misses a single money-making trick, brought the show back in 2004. And on FOX the show will remain - at least until 2012. MacFarlane has never worked a network other than FOX in his career.

I think this is one of the funniest shows I watch.

I'm a fan, but I am still loyal to The Simpsons. Anyway.. Family Guy's season finale was a total rip-off! They just showed that Stewie movie. Sure, I haven't seen it before, but what a bunch of lazy bastards!!

What is great about Family Guy is the very dangerous humour that they do; they will touch subject so touchy, that even Simpsons would not dare try. The only thing bad about Family Guy is the "weird" humor (such has having a 5 minutes long scene where Peter gets hit on the shin and whines about it...) which makes for either very good episodes or very bad without any in-betweens.

I know! I just hope they get some good episodes soon. I love the Simpsons but there's just something about the Family guy that makes it more enjoyable. I do believe that it's Stewie and Brian. It's like the show Will&Grace. You watch the show for Jack and Karen not Will and Grace. Well at least I do.

I love this show, I think it is one of the best out there. I never get tired of Peter's laugh and maniacal little Stewie. Giggity Giggity, it's one of my faves.

What a cuddly show i like full family guy tv show. it is full of fun i enjoy this show mostly when i have some sadness then i used to watch this show but really i don't while i am watching this show then i forgot my every problems and also stress .

Family guy is great i dont see how there are people out there that dont like it

I'm a huge fan of Family Guy and I love watching it just because it really is one of the most unique and weird shows ever on TV, haha. It still is very hilarious though! I love the characters and well, it's always fun to watch and kind of sit back and enjoy.
