Here’s a quick look at some of the casting announcements made recently:

How I Met Your Mother: The CBS comedy will be opening its doors for yet another guest star. Amanda Peet, most recently seen in 2012, is currently scheduled for a January visit. No details on her role have yet been announced.

The Middle: Lipstick Jungle‘s Brooke Shields will play mother to four out-of-control sons on the ABC comedy. Patricia Heaton’s character will do her best to keep the peace with the neighbor and her nightmarish children. Shields will come knocking in early 2010.

Mercy: Mya may have lost a mirror ball trophy, but her 15 minutes aren’t completely up. The singer/amateur dancer has nabbed a part on the NBC series as the daughter of a dying patient. Visiting hours for the guitar-toting character will begin on January 6.

Parks and Recreation: 30 Rock‘s Will Arnett will be pulling an earlier shift when he guests on this Thursday night comedy next year. Amy Poehler’s real-life husband will make an appearance as a possible love interest for Leslie. That’s the same role Justin Theroux has also been cast to play. Oh really?!?

Private Practice: Samantha Who‘s Melissa McCarthy will be tackling drama on a different ABC series. McCarthy will cameo as a pregnant woman in an upcoming episode of Practice. Her first visit with midwife Dell will air in January.

House: MADtv vet Orlando Jones has been recruited for spot on the FOX series as a Foreman’s sibling. The jailed character will get face time with his brother when it comes time for a parole hearing. Look for Jones during February sweeps.

Castle: The new year will bring back an old love for Nathan Fillion. Alyssa Milano will walking down the aisle as a former flame who reunites with Richard Castle on her wedding day. That spark will reignite sometime next year.
