Will Ferrell Joins Tina Fey on Saturday Night Live

What’s better than a Tina Fey cameo on Saturday Night Live? A Palin sketch that also includes Will Ferrell.
On tonight’s special Thursday broadcast, the popular SNL alum made a surprise return to play the current POTUS. Not so coincidentally, Will is also prepping to bring his version of Bush to Broadway next year.
Was Ferrell’s visit really a shameless promotion for You’re Welcome America. A Final Night With George W. Bush? Who cares?

Need Another Reason to Hate The Hills?

Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Reality, MTV, The Hills, Gossip,

The Hills, an MTV pseudo-reality show which just might be a rare form of entertainment cancer, just got unbelievably sillier. Honestly, I don’t know whether to laugh or cry over the recent pics of Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt, who recently took a stroll in the California sunshine wearing - get this - his and her pro-Republican T-shirts.
While Heidi clomped along in her high, thick-soled shoes, Spencer kept a shotgun slung against his shoulder. And for those of you who, like myself, have been wondering just who Joe Six Pack is - it’s Spencer Pratt. Note how he slugs back his beer - look in-between the couple to see the rest of those brews just waiting for their chance in front of the cameras.

SNL Alum Not Amused By Sarah Palin

Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Comedy, Late Night, NBC, Saturday Night Live, Gossip, Video,
After tons of hype and media attention, vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin finally made an appearance (for real) on SNL. I would have rather just watched Tina Fey (who at least makes the wanna-be veep seem charming)…and apparently I’m not alone in that sentiment.
“Quite frankly, it’s a big mistake to let her go on,” said former Saturday Night Live regular and Weekend Update anchor Chevy Chase. “Apparently, she [Sarah Palin] cannot improvise herself out of a paper bag!” Or drooping polls.

America’s Next Top Model 11: Now You See Me, Now You Don’t

Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Prime Time, Reality, The CW, America’s Next Top Model,

Even though it had been two weeks since the last original America’s Next Top Model, it was like no time had passed. Joslyn was still frustrated by her downhill slide, Sheena was still frustrated about not being considered “modelesque” and the unemotional Europeans (a.k.a Elina and Marjorie) were both still frustrated about being misunderstood.

Thanks to ABC’s smart decision to can Opportunity Knocks, the network’s first two hours saw big improvements over last week. Unfortunately, its third hour (Eli Stone) didn’t benefit from the programming change. By night’s end, CBS was the winner with the viewers while FOX was tops with the demos.
8pm
- NCIS (17.1 million, 3.6/10 in 18-49) lost 800,000.
- House (12.9 million, 5.5/15) had the best demos of the night.
- A Dancing with the Stars* recap show (9.3 million, 2.0/6) did 4 million better than last week’s Knocks.
- The Biggest Loser: Families (7.3 million, 2.9/8) was down slightly.
- 90210* (1.4 million, 0.6/2) was down 400,000.

Here’s a quick look at some of the casting announcements made recently:
Chuck: If you’ve been desperately waiting for another Charlie sighting on Lost, this might be your next best alternative. On February 2nd, Dominic Monaghan will appear on Chuck as a…British rock star. Like any other person who happens to visit the Buy More, Dominic’s character will somehow become involved in one of Bartowski’s missions. The episode, which will air partly in 3-D, comes one day after the Super Bowl on NBC.

Dancing with the Stars 7: Week 5 Loser

Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Prime Time, Reality, ABC, Dancing With The Stars,

Last night’s episode of Dancing with the Stars turned out to be quite an interesting event. Although we are used to seeing frustration on the celebrities’ faces, we are not accustomed to seeing clueless looks on the professionals as well.
Ironically, the teachers most familiar with the new styles they were given (Tony with the Hustle and Lacey with the West Coast Swing) received some of the lowest numbers of the night. Meanwhile, those coming into their dances cold (Derek, Cheryl and Kym) scored well.

Dr. Drew Talks Rehab on Today

Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Reality, Cable, Editorial, Gossip,

Dr. Drew Pinsky, addiction specialist, recently sat down on Today to talk about the problems associated with this disease and the upcoming second season of Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew. The season premieres Thursday, which somehow seems impossibly far away.
Pinsky said doing the show itself is “very stressful,” but not for the reasons you might think. The presence of cameras and the need to create a reality show might have added to the problem of overcoming addiction, but Dr. Drew says the cameras have a “positive effect” on the celebrity patients at the Pasadena Recovery Center. “It’s a hard reality,” Drew explained. “And that’s why we did this show.”
According to Pinsky, one in eight Americans will suffer or does suffer from substance addiction. An estimated sixteen million Americans currently need immediate treatment for this problem. That’s part of what Celebrity Rehab is all about - showing the public just how tough addiction can be, proving that addicts need serious treatment. According to Dr. Drew Pinsky, addiction is a “progressive illness” which needs to be stopped in its tracks.
