The Carolina Hurricanes may put in a request to play all of their games in Finland. The ‘Canes won their second game in Helsinki in as many tries – and as many games this season – with a 2-1 shootout victory over the Minnesota Wild. Last year, Carolina only won two of their first 18 games; which was directly responsible for their finishing with just 80 points. By November 13 of last season, the Hurricanes had eight points total.

The unexpected league leader Konopka

When you look at the list of the most useless NHLers of the 2009-10 season, Tampa Bay’s Zenon Konopka should be right at the top. Konopka led the league in penalty minutes with 265. He only played 602 minutes on the ice. During said ice time, Konopka notched a whopping two goals and three helpers as a forward. The Lightning paid Konopka half a million dollars to be the league’s most useless goon. He didn’t earn any bonuses.

The other Hull you might not know

Everybody knows about “The Golden Jet” Bobby Hull, the all-star left winger of the Chicago Blackhawks and later Winnipeg Jets of the WHA. Everybody knows his son, “The Golden Brett”, who amazingly managed to surpass the legend of his father with Calgary and St. Louis, among others. But there’s another, less-talked about Hull. He’s Bobby’s younger brother, Brett’s uncle, “The Silver Jet”, Dennis Hull, and while his list of accomplishments doesn’t match that of his family, he still made a tremendous impact in the NHL.
