49-year drought just days away from ending

Chicago finally applied the strategy everybody knew would work: stop Chris Pronger, win the game. In that order. Pronger was an uncharacteristic minus-five in a 7-4 Chicago win in Game 5. The Blackhawks are now one victory away from ending their reign as the team with the longest streak without having won a Stanley Cup. 1961 feels a lot longer ago than 49 years for many fans in the Windy City, and they may only have wait as few as two more days to bring the Cup back home.

Boucher blowing big break

It’s about time Brian Boucher became Philadelphia’s number one goalie. Boucher has been playing behind newly-acquired Ray Emery for most of the season, but with Emery’s recent muscle tear leaving him off the ice for roughly six weeks, Boucher has been asked to step up and fill in the role as primary net-minder. With Emery out of the picture, Boucher has a chance to prove his worth. However, after a week of tests, Boucher is failing miserably.

The NHL.com network is a fantastic place to get a wealth of information including news, stats, standings, and much more. The network itself is a collection of web sites that includes more than just the main site linked to thirty team locations, each using their own different color scheme to match their team colors. It also is a collection of links to affiliated sites, such as minor league hockey clubs, sponsor web sites, online stores, and, interestingly enough, a handful of “player sites”. Not the least of which belongs to the newly acquired Philadelphia Flyers defenseman, Chris Pronger, simply located at ChrisPronger.com.
