SNL Lines Up Ryan Reynolds, Gerard Butler and Lady Gaga

Gerard ButlerMegan Fox may be an enticing reason for men to watch Saturday Night Live, but she won’t be the only appealing guest this season.

On October 3, the Green Lantern‘s Ryan Reynolds will visit the NBC program with musical performer Lady Gaga in tow. (Given the late hour, we can only imagine what “Poker Face” star will wear.)

Reynolds’ stint will be followed by an appearance from Kristen Wiig’s co-star Drew Barrymore on October 10. (Drew will be accompanied by singer Regina Spektor.) Then on October 17, 300 hunk Gerard Butler will take the stage with “She Wolf” Shakira serving as the hip-shaking musical act.

SNL‘s 35th season will kick off with Megan Fox on September 26. U2 will the ones rocking the house on that night.

BRITISH COMICS: Viz 187, The Fat Slags and Elton John

Posted by Tom Mason Categories: Reviews,

Now this is comedy, but it’s not for children. This is funny stuff for adults who need a few giggles over bodily functions, naughty words, and sexual situations. Viz #187 (August 2009) has a lot of great strips featuring The Fat Slags, The Drunken Bakers, Mr. Logic, Biffa Bacon and Cedric Soft, Aesop’s Cables (with a heartwarming fable about his bathroom habits), and a “super-hero” called The Brown Bottle who derives his courage from drinking a six-pack. PC Hubble and PC Bubble are two cops who take their jobs very seriously in a humorous 2009 abuse of power way. Even the girls of St. Bridget’s School get into the act when they find a man – an “inconsequential piece of celebrity flotsam” - in the backyard and try to keep him as a pet.

U2 Set to Release New Album

U2

Next spring, U2 will show us all what they’ve been working on since dismantling a bomb.

Although the group had originally planned to complete its next project by the end of 2008, their 12th studio album is now scheduled for a March 3 release. (No Line on the Horizon will be available internationally on March 2.) The band’s desire to add more tracks is the reason for the delay.

“I met with the guys in U2, and they say to me, ‘You know what? This album needs two more songs, and it will be exactly what we have in mind.’ I go there and I listen, and I agreed with them,” Interscope-Geffen-A&M chairman Jimmy Iovine stated.

The 2007 MTV Video Music Awards

MTV Moon MenBefore this evening’s festivities begin, the producers of the 2007 MTV Video Music Awards should really thank the scandal-plagued artists who’ve unintentionally thrown publicity their way.  Tonight, we’ll be thinking about those performers who’ve canceled because they need to be in rehab (Amy Winehouse) and closely watching those who should probably go back ().

We’d been warning you for weeks that this would be a one-time only telecast, but in case you forgot—we hope this helps.  And for those who live on the West Coast (like me), you can play along and read our coverage as if it were in real-time:
