The Console Wars Veteran I gaming medal

Posted by Lolita Beckwith Categories: Accessories, Culture, Nintendo,

Console Wars MedalsOnly a hardcore gamer knows the unique sense of accomplishment felt after reaching “100% completion” on a video game. But when you brag about it, you’re likely to get the response “So whaddya want, a medal?” Well, now you can actually have your own gaming medal, courtesy of Supermandolini. The limited edition Console Wars Veteran I medal honors “the memories of endless epic battles, infinite high scores and numerous blistered fingers.” The metal badge features a retro NES controller, but we’re hoping other consoles will get the medal treatment soon, as we’d love a SNES version. Available for approx. $27 USD.

Pave the Way With Nintendo

Posted by Sheila Franklin Categories: Design, Smart Home, Video Games,

Gameboy BrickYou want to redecorate your backyard but still maintain the fact that you live for Nintendo as far back as the original Gameboys. How about some bricks to liven up your yard? The creator had arranged them into a wall and in the ground back in 2006 and claims that they are still intact, unlike most of those portable gaming systems. Each one is $45.00 apiece, fairly pricey for something that just lies there. But we figure you can always turn your front bushes into leafy Mario Brothers to match.

Wii shortages continue, Nintendo partners with GameStop on rain check program

Wii shortagesI just got off a press call with of America President Reggie Fils-Aime where the focus was on the availability of the console. Reggie made it clear that Nintendo never expected the success that Wii has been enjoying since launch, and therefore has remained hard to find despite ramped up production. Nintendo is hoping to help out just a bit with a couple of short-term initiatives.

Nintendo/PC Up for Auction

We like the retro look of this PC built into an old Nintendo and apparently so do a lot of others. Its creator spent about 50 hours and €800 (~$1,180.00) to make it and it is now being auctioned off on eBay France. The event will run through December 9, and the bid last time we checked was about €625,00 (~$917.00.) Check out its innards, outers, and ports on the video. Not a bad deal considering he is also tossing in some NES and NES 64 gear to go with it.

The Lazy Way to Score a Wii

WiiWant a Wii but don’t want the early morning wait outside Toys ‘R Us or Target? Two websites will help you to obtain the elusive game system. Wii Chat will tell you places to pre-order plus links to eBay sellers, if cost isn’t as important as availability. Wii Tracker goes one better. It lists particular stores’ availability on not only Wiis, but other hot items such as TMX Elmo, Playstation, Xbox, Nintendo DS, iPhones, and RAZRs. Sure, you could look for these yourself, but why bother when these kind folk have done it for you?

Wii Boxing Gloves

We’ll resist the urge to make an Oscar De La Hoya-and-fishnets joke and just tell you about these

nutty

boxing gloves specifically designed for Nintendo Wii boxing games. Just put your Wiimote and Nunchuk inside the gloves and inflate them. Now you can really live out your dream of being Muhammad (or Laila) Ali.  Much like similar accessories for Wii Sports, fishing games, and even Cooking Mama, the gloves serve to add a sense of “realism”—or goofy fun—to your Wii-playing experience.
