‘X-Files’ Casting Decisions
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: 20th Century Fox, Science Fiction, Sequels, Casting, Upcoming Releases,
Xzibit, no stranger to the filming studio thanks to MTV, has joined the cast of the upcoming X-Files movie. Amanda Peet and Billy Connolly are already signed on for supporting roles in the flick.
One source says the rapper and the movie star (Xzibit and Peet) will play FBI agents working with Scully and Mulder, the stars of the show and the film. The plot is being kept very hush-hush, and FOX is releasing very little information on which roles the actors will play. Xzibit has played roles in films before and was set to appear in the Oliver Stone film, Pinkville. The Pinkville project, however, has been scrapped because of the ongoing and seemingly unending writer’s strike.

This Week on TV (12/10-12/16)
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Action, Animation, Comedy, Drama, Games, Kids, Prime Time, Reality, Specials, ABC, Cable, CBS, FX, HBO, MTV, NBC, Showtime, The CW, America’s Next Top Model, Nip/Tuck, Saturday Night Live, Survivor, The Hills,

MONDAY (12/10)
- I Want a Dog, Charlie Brown (ABC, 8pm): “Linus and Lucy’s little brother, Rerun, hangs with Snoopy and his own sibling, the desert-dwelling Spike.” Was I the only one not aware of the What’s Happening!/Peanuts crossover episode?
- How I Met Your Mother (CBS, 8pm): “Ted asks his doctor on a date and his friends try to discourage him from dating someone he sees regularly.” Relationships clearly work best when you never see them at all.
- Notes from the Underbelly (ABC, 9:30pm): “Lauren tries to convince her sister to move to LA so she can be nearby when the baby is born.” Lauren’s sister isn’t stupid. She knows what ‘be nearby’ means.
- The Hills (MTV, 10pm): Season finale. “Lauren gets an offer to go to Paris.” I really hope MTV doesn’t take their version of quality programming overseas (again). The French hate us already.

Alternatives For Late Night TV
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Late Night, Reality, Talk Shows, Cable, FX, MTV, Editorial,
It’s only been a full work week since Hollywood’s writers went on strike, and already it seems the days of great late night talk programs are long gone. The last time the writer’s guild went on strike, it lasted an agonizingly long 22 weeks. Without Colbert, Stewart, Letterman and Leno, how is American supposed to get its satirical, tongue-in-cheek twists on current events?
With a shortage of new scripts and a hiatus of many major shows, more Americans are now channel-surfing to find an entertainment fix. What they’ll find is a mishmash of reality TV - those wonderfully unscripted programs that are always there in the event of a script shortage. Channels like Travel, Discovery, Animal Planet and the Food Network are largely unaffected by the strike, though how MTV (and channels like it) will continue with their staged reality programs is anyone’s guess.
Instead of watching repeats on network TV, turn to these cable channels as the midnight hour approaches. Animal Planet, the Discovery Channel, E!, FX, The History Channel, and VH1 are among those still offering brand-new episodes. It’s better than re-runs.

MONDAY (10/22)
**No new episode of Ellen today. She’s still recovering from all the doggy drama**
- Live With Regis and Kelly (ABC, syndicated): Jimmy Kimmel will be pulling double-duty this week as he fills in for Regis Philbin in NY and tapes his show in LA. (I’m guessing we’ll still be seeing him on Dancing With The Stars as well.) If we’re lucky, Guillermo will fill in for Gelman too.
- Prison Break (FOX, 8pm): The show returns tonight after being preempted by baseball last week. What? You don’t care either?
- Heroes (NBC, 9pm): Many fans have been waiting for Kristen Bell’s debut tonight. Unfortunately, she’s one more new character I’ll have to ignore.

MTV: Behind the Crown
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Reality, Cable, MTV, Gossip,
When I hear about shows like this, I long for the days when MTV stuck to videos – not reality. But those days are over, and now Music Television is giving viewers something never-before-seen: Beauty Queens as TV stars. Gack. Led by former Miss USA Tara Conner (who was very nearly stripped of her crown for alcohol abuse), several pageant queens will crew up on the cable channel.
Pageant Place debuted this week, the first in an eight-part series, and follows the lives of Miss Universe, Miss USA and Miss Teen USA winners. They’ll be roommates…kinda like The Real World (which will continue into perpetuity…no matter how sick of it we get). The beautiful girls will live in New York City for one year, with Conner as an “unofficial peer advisor.” Just keep her away from the booze. Donald Trump, who publicly reprimanded Tara but allowed her to keep her crown, will be dropping by Pageant Place to check up on the girls.

Watch Britney Spears’ New Video for ‘Gimme More’
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Music, MTV,
It for some reason you don’t see the YouTube video, you can find a very short preview of it here.
Britney Spears’ new video for ‘Gimme More’ is not officially scheduled to debut until Monday—but here’s your chance to get it out of the way now.
After you finish watching the clip, ask yourself these questions:
- Was the sense of nausea you felt a result of the shaky editing or something else?
- Did her hair remind you of Demi Moore, Cher or Morticia Addams?
- Is it even possible to dance with shorts lodged so far up your rear?
- Did you find yourself laughing more than voyeur Britney did in the video?
- Was there even a point to the whole thing?
If you feel compelled to watch the video again on a much larger screen, set your Tivo to Monday’s Total Request Live on MTV.
Britney Loses Custody
Posted by Wendy Michaels Categories: Gossip, Internet, Rumors,
While details are still developing, People magazine (and loads of other news sites and blogs) are reporting that Britney Spears is temporarily losing custody of her two children, Sean Preston and Jayden James. Kevin Federline will have custody of the children, beginning Wednesday, “until further notice of the court,” according to the judge at today’s hearing. The specifics have not been made public, but the odds of Brit having custody have become increasingly stacked against her after recent events, including charges against her for a hit-and-run accident, driving without a valid license, and of course… interviews from her former bodyguard that claim the poptart endangered her kids and used drugs. You also may recall that Britney is supposed to have random drug testing twice a week. No word yet on whether this recent custody decision is the result of any testing. There will be another hearing on Wednesday.
