Charlie Sheen Wants a Public Trial
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Movies, Television, Legal Issues, Rivalries, Rumors,
It should come as no surprise that the man who will give anyone an interview should want to air his dirty Warner Bros. laundry in public. Charlie Sheen has filed legal papers requesting a public trial in his lawsuit against the studio that has filmed Two and Half Men for many successful seasons.
Sheen is suing Warner Bros. for a staggering $100 million, and he says they’re pushing for a closed-door trail in order to get a more favorable resolution.
The actor’s tactics could bode ill for his future at CBS. Rumors have surfaced that, despite all the trash-talk, the network is attempting to re-hire him after publicly kicking him to the curb.

Plea Deal Rejected! Lindsay Lohan Will Go to Trial
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Movies, Music, Child Stars, Legal Issues, Rumors,
Turns out, Lindsay Lohan didn’t need to wait out the judge’s March 25 deadline -- she’s already made her mind up about the plea deal.
And, it’s a no go. Linds made her wishes known on Wednesday by refusing to take jail time, though she would have served approximately 19 days, in favor of taking the case to trial. Lindsay Lohan is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on April 22. This will determine whether or not she should be charged with felony grand theft for allegedly stealing a necklace totaling $2,500.
The ruling could go badly for Lohan. If it is decided that she should stand trial, she could be immediately found guilty of violating her probation -- which will result in jail time anyway. It’ll be Lindsay’s fourth stint in the pokey.

Lindsay Lohan Receives Not-So-Secret Courtroom Deal
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Movies, Child Stars, Clothing, Legal Issues, Rumors,
The California legal system is painfully learning the lesson that Lindsay Lohan has faced so many times: she can’t do one damned thing the media doesn’t discover. So it should come as no surprise that details from her highly-secretive legal bargain are leaking out of the courtroom.
Superior Court Judge Keith Schwartz has scheduled an April 22 hearing for Lohan’s grand theft case, but before this she may appear in court one final time to accept the offer he made to her on Thursday. Linds has now formally rejected a plea bargain offered to her, in which she’s been asked to plead guilty to felony theft. He’s giving her until March 25 to change her mind.
The plea would give her a possible 3-month jail stay, which is a lot shorter than the 3-year sentence she’s facing if convicted of felony theft. Linds could also face a penalty for probation violation, as she’s not supposed to get into any legal trouble right now (her being fresh from a different court case, and all).
It doesn’t help that the judge wanted none of the details of the plea bargain made public. The judge asked lawyers on both sides to keep the deets hush-hush, but TMZ (and everybody else) got ahold of them anyway.

Lindsay Lohan: Free From Jail, For Now
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Movies, Music, Child Stars, Legal Issues, Paparazzi Photos,
Lindsay Lohan’s $40,000 bail has been posted, and she’s free to roam all the jewelry stores in downtown Los Angeles . . . for now. The former child star pled not guilty on Wednesday to the felony grand theft charge she received for allegedly swiping a $2500 necklace from a Venice, California jewelry shop.
Lohan’s lawyer, Shawn Chapman-Holley, argues that Linds believed she was borrowing the piece. It is not uncommon for jewelry stores to lend out important pieces to celebs who will be photographed wearing the items, but in this case the jewelry store says no way -- Lindsay Lohan took the necklace without their consent or knowledge.
The actress must go back to court on February 23 to argue her innocence. Lohan could receive up to 3 years in prison for grand theft, if the charge sticks, on top of additional jail time for violating her probation. Lohan is on probation following her 2007 DUI arrest, and this won’t expire until August 11.

Conrad Murray: Ordered to Stand Trial for Michael Jackson Manslaughter
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Music, Child Stars, Legal Issues,
His legal defense seemed a little shaky from the word go.
Dr. Conrad Murray, the physician who cared for pop star Michael Jackson during the singer’s final days, has been ordered to stand trial for involuntary manslaughter. Murray claimed that Jackson injected himself with a lethal dose of Propofol, but the judge has ruled that Murray's case will continue.
Meanwhile, Murray has been stripped of his medical license. Members of the Jackson family (Katherine, Janet, La Toya, Jackie, Jermaine and Marlon) were present during last week’s hearing, which ended in the current ruling. “I’m happy so far,” said La Toya of the events.
Testimony in the hearing took six days, where more than 20 witnesses were heard for the prosecution. No witnesses were called for the defense during the hearing.

Predicting Lindsay Lohan’s Future: To Jail, or Not to Jail?
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Movies, Music, Child Stars, Drugs, Legal Issues, Rumors,
Former film star Lindsay Lohan goes back to court Friday to face the music - and the verdict - for violating her probation and failing two separate drug tests. The star, recently released from a 17-day jail stint and a shorter turn in rehab, tested positive for cocaine and amphetamines.
Per the terms of her probation, Linds could be sentenced to a 30-day jail sentence for each infraction. However, new courthouse whispers suggest that Lohan won’t spend even a single night in the pokey. Lindsay’s crimes are misdemeanors, which means bail will be set - and it will definitely be paid ASAP.
But that doesn’t mean the actress is totally out of the woods. Lindsay Lohan will go before the judge again in October for her probation violation hearing, where it is very likely she will be sentenced to 30 days for the first positive drug test (cocaine). Even so, the LA jails are still highly overcrowded, so it’s doubtful Linds will serve even one day of her 30-day sentence.

Paris Hilton Makes Deal, Avoids Jail Time
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Television, Legal Issues,

Although it appears Lindsay Lohan might be heading back to jail, Paris Hilton will be avoiding a second trip behind bars ... at least, for now.
According to Clark County District Attorney David Roger, the socialite has reached a plea agreement in relation to her August 27 arrest. On that evening, Las Vegas police officers pulled over a vehicle driven by boyfriend Cy Waits. Hilton was later charged with misdemeanor drug possession (because less than a gram of cocaine was found in her purse) and obstructing an officer (because she lied about owning said purse).
