Britney Spears Not Ready For Control of Her Life
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Music, Legal Issues, Meltdowns, Rumors,
Britney Spears is “unlikely” to regain control of her affairs in the near future.
The 28-year-old singer, whose father Jamie Spears and lawyer Andrew Wallet were made co-conservators of her personal and professional affairs after her public breakdown in 2008, is due to have a conservatorship status hearing today, but is not expected that the judge will change the ruling.
“Britney won’t be in court for the hearing. It seems highly unlikely that the conservatorship will end by the end of summer. Britney’s just not ready, yet. She has her good days and bad days. Britney has complex issues on a personal and professional level, and that is the reason the conservatorship is still in place,” a source told RadarOnline.com.
The “Piece of Me” singer will only be permitted to regain control of her vast fortune if Los Angeles Superior Court Commissioner Reva Goetz has enough evidence to justify ending the conservatorship. It had previously been claimed Britney feels “completely out of it” because her father is so controlling.
“She is so out of it she just doesn’t care anymore. She just does what she’s told and is totally in her world. She’ll even call people at all hours of night for a general conversation and acts like it’s the middle of the day or something,” a source said.

Lindsay Lohan Saying She Didn’t Party in Cannes
Judging by an interview prior to today’s court appearance, Lindsay Lohan doesn’t have the greatest acting chops.
The troubled starlet had a sit down with Hollywood.TV, who explicitly asked her some hard-pressed questions, notably relating to all of her Cannes-capades. When asked why she thought it would be more important to party in Cannes than to go to her hearing, Lohan was quick to say, “I wasn’t partying in Cannes. I was there for work. More than ten people can attest to that.”
I’d say that there are more than at least a hundred people who would
say otherwise… with photographic (see picture to right) and eye witness accounts.
In the video (seen after the jump), Lohan also claims that the now-infamous photograph of her next to cocaine was taken with a fan who asked her to come into a room to take the picture. I don’t know what’s more idiotic of her—that she would go into an unknown fan’s room without hesitation or that we would believe such a story in the first place.
People still wonder why we continue to watch her entertaining soap opera of a life? More importantly, why is Lohan always frowning anywhere she’s not at a party?

Lindsay Lohan Submits to Random Drug Tests, SCRAM
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Movies, Drugs, Drunk, Legal Issues, Breaking News,
After a weekend of hardcore partying in Cannes, Lindsay Lohan is back in the states and has been ordered to submit to random drug testing.
The
actress appeared in a Beverly Hills court today for a probation review hearing, where she was told by Judge Marsha Revel she can remain out on bail, but only if she abstains from drinking alcohol, wears a SCRAM bracelet - which monitors alcohol consumption - and attends at least one alcohol education class a week.
The judge also indicated the 23-year-old star must stay in the Los Angeles area, despite her being lined up to work on a movie in Texas. A formal hearing to determine if Lindsay has violated her probation - which she was placed on following her second driving under the influence (DUI) conviction in 2007 - has been scheduled for July 6.
If she is found in breach of the terms, Lindsay - who is expected to face at least five drug tests before then - could be jailed for 180 days. Lindsay was originally scheduled to appear in court last Thursday, but was stranded in Cannes, France, after claiming her passport had been stolen.
Michael Lohan Says Lindsay Would Prefer Jail to Rehab

Michael Lohan claims daughter Lindsay Lohan would rather go to jail than rehab.
The Mean Girls actress is due in court tomorrow and may be sent to prison for violating her probation following her arrest for driving under the influence (DUI) in 2007, but Michael insists that wouldn’t bother her.
He told X17, “Lindsay doesn’t need to go through the jail process. She thinks that three days in jail is better than 60 days in rehab and she’s sadly mistaken. Lindsay doesn’t realize how horrible it is to be in jail for one, two, three days or longer. It’s something that would stick with her for the rest of her life and she doesn’t need any more torment.”
Troubled Lindsay - who spent 84 minutes in jail in 2007 - is currently in France at the Cannes Film Festival and may not be able to get back to Los Angeles due to the volcanic ash over Europe, which is threatening flights. However, Michael’s lawyer, Lisa Bloom, insists she shouldn’t have gone with such an important date looming:

Michael Lohan Wants Lindsay in Rehab

The celebrity with a family that cares: Lindsay Lohan‘s father has begged a judge to order her to rehab.
Michael Lohan - who has repeatedly claimed the actress is addicted to prescription drugs - had his lawyer Lisa Bloom write a letter to the official presiding over her driving over the influence (DUI) probation case asking for more steps to be taken to intervene in his daughter’s life. The note read: “It is clear to Michael that the current court-ordered condition of her probation - namely, that she is required only to attend alcohol education classes - is insufficient.”
The letter goes on to ask that the judge “order Lindsay into an inpatient residential drug and alcohol treatment program.” In the document, obtained by TMZ, it is suggested the Mean Girls star could receive treatment at New York facility Cold Spring Hills, adding, “Her family could easily attend family therapy with her as needed.”
Michael acknowledges the 23-year-old star may not be sent to rehab, so has also suggested an alternative intervention plan. The letter explains, “Michael respectfully requests the Court order Lindsay to be subject to frequent, random, court ordered drug testing; that Lindsay be subjected to random searches of her home and person by law enforcement; and that Lindsay’s probation be extended for an additional term of years to continue her period of court supervision.”

Is Lindsay Lohan Going to Jail?
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: D-List, Movies, Music, Child Stars, Drunk, Legal Issues, Rumors,
TMZ seems to think so. The gossip site has learned that Lindsay Lohan could be in serious trouble with the law for not following the terms of her court-mandated alcohol education classes. It’s a violation of her probation, and there’s good reason to think she’ll end up doing hard time as a result.
Judge Marsha Revel ruled that LiLo must attend alcohol classes at least once every seven days, unless Lohan received treatment through inpatient rehab. The judge ruled that if Lindsay violated this agreement, Lohan would be going to jail. Well…she’s violated it.
Lindsay Lohan will face the music on May 20, a progress hearing where it will be revealed that Lohan frequently waited up to 21 days to attend her court-mandated courses. If the judge holds firms to her former ruling, Miss Lohan will find herself behind bars before the day is out.

Lil Wayne Faces One Year in Jail
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Artist News, Hip-Hop & Rap,

Who knew Lil Wayne‘s Behind the Music special would become so dated…so quickly?
A fourth child isn’t the only thing the rapper is facing in the months to come. Come February, the 27-year-old may be sentenced to up to one year in jail.
Earlier today, the Grammy award winner pleaded guilty to an attempted weapons possession charge. The plea bargain - which reversed an earlier “not guilty” declaration - spared Lil Wayne (a.k.a. Dwayne Michael Carter Jr.) from what could have been 3.5 years following a jury trial.
Thursday’s legal matter stemmed from a July 2007 police search of his tour bus. DNA tests conducted later linked Carter to a .40-caliber gun found on board. Unfortunately, today’s agreement with prosecutors won’t put an end to Dwayne’s troubles. He still faces drug and weapons possession charges from a January 2008 incident in Arizona.

Kate Gosselin Wins Round 1
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Television, Break-ups, Divorce, Legal Issues, Rivalries, Where Are They Now?,
Everything that’s been going on thus far was merely a warm-up to the real Jon and Kate Gosselin war, which got underway this week in court. So far, Kate’s ahead thanks to a ruling made by Judge Arthur R. Tilson.
For now, Jon Gosselin has been ordered to return $180,000 of the $235,000 he’s withdrawn from the joint bank account. According to Kate Gosselin lawyer Mark Momjian, Jon has to pony up the dough by October 26. “As difficult as this has been for me, I am pleased that the court has ruled fairly on behalf of myself and my children,” said Kate.
Let’s just pause for a second and really think about the staggering sum of $235,000, an amount which many Americans don’t earn even two years’ of work. As a matter of fact, the average firefighter/EMT earned approximately $47,000 annually in 2003…and they save lives.

Paris Hilton Escapes Pay-Out
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Comedy, Celeb News, Celebrity Controversy,
Paris Hilton was not at fault for her film-flopping, a court has ruled.
The socialite was sued by Worldwide Entertainment Group for allegedly breaching her contractual commitments for movie National Lampoon’s Pledge This!, but a Miami judge has ruled she did her best to promote it, stating the movie was “hardly destined for critical acclaim.”
District Judge Federico Moreno said:
“Any causal connection between Ms. Hilton’s alleged breaches and the financial ruin of the film are wholly speculative. The movie flopped because the film’s inexperienced producers hastily cobbled together a wholly inadequate marketing plan. They sent scattershot requests to their principal star in the hope she could find time to promote a sinking ship.”
While Paris won’t have to pay the $8.3 million damages the producers were asking for, she may have to return the $1 million fee she was given for the film. A receiver representing the producers has been given until August 26 to submit arguments as to why the blonde star should pay back the sum.
Michael Weinsten, Paris’ lawyer, said in a statement following the ruling: “We are grateful for the judge’s time and thoughtful consideration of the issues in this case.”
Woman Charged Heavily for Downloads

Back in October of 2007, Jammie Thomas-Rasset was charged with copyright infringement of 24 songs and decided to fight the Recording Industry Association of America and Capitol Records instead of settling. But now a jury has decided that she is guilty and must pay 1.92 million dollars, which comes out to about $80,000 per tune. While it is possible that the RIAA may still settle for less, Ms. Thomas-Rasset is only the first of 20,000 that may be brought to court and is certainly being used to tell us all that her action was a no-no bigtime.
