Josh Holloway’s Robber Sentenced to Prison
Posted by Robin Paulson Categories: Television, Legal Issues,
Shortly after celebrating last Thursday’s ratings alongside cast and crew, Lost star Josh Holloway had more to celebrate yesterday with the satisfaction of knowing that the man who robbed him is finally in jail.
Alongside his wife, the model-turned-actor who plays Sawyer on ABC’s hit series Lost was terrorized back in October of 2005 by 23 year-old Ruben Royce. Awoken from their bed in their Hawaiian home, Royce held both Holloway and his wife, Yessica, at gunpoint as he stole their cash, credit cards, and Mercedes-Benz.
Royce was convicted in court yesterday, ultimately sentenced to 13-30 years behind bars for this and similar crimes he committed the following three weeks.
Hopefully this will mark a new turning point for the cast members of the hit show, as most of them have been struck by misfortune (this, of course, includes Holloway’s robbery) ever since the series started.

Tatum O’Neal Thanks Police Who Arrested Her
Posted by Robin Paulson Categories: D-List, Television, Drugs, Legal Issues, Meltdowns,
After spending Sunday night in jail following her arrest for purchasing crack and cocaine, former Dancing With the Stars contestant Tatum O’Neal was released from court yesterday. Shockingly, her first remarks were thank yous… to the police who arrested her!
Claiming sobriety, the New York City jail survivor gratefully thanked her law enforcers for keeping her that way: “Just when I was about to change that and wreck my life, the cops came and saved me! I was saved by the bell, by the guys in the Seventh Precinct.”
What I’m wondering was whether or not she was truly sober, thinking we would actually believe that she thanked those cops from the bottom of her heart. Then again, she may very well have been smart enough to learn from her fellow jailbird celebrities and look pretty good whilst being sprung from the can.

CSI’s Gary Dourdan Pleads Guilty to Drug Possession
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Television, Drugs, Legal Issues,
Although he faced up to nearly 4 years in prison, actor Gary Dourdan managed to leave court today with only a slap on the hand.
The CSI star had been charged with three counts of felony drug possession after a police search of his car back on April 28. After pleading guilty to the Ecstasy and cocaine charges (a third for heroin was dismissed), the 41-year-old was ordered to complete a diversion program.
In a statement to the press, Dourdan’s lawyer said the star was, of course, sorry for his mistakes. “He very much regrets what happened, and he’s very embarrassed by what occurred, but he’s looking forward to moving on and getting back to work.”
So let’s see - instead of jail time, he gets 16 months to complete 30 hours of drug-education classes? What’s he going to do with himself in the meantime?

MPAA Sues Pullmylink
Posted by Sheila Franklin Categories: Corporate News, Editorial, Home Entertainment, Hot Deals, Internet, Movies,
The Motion Picture Association of America is suing Pullmylink and says that the site promotes and makes a profit from media that infringes on copyrights. This is the seventh time that the MPAA has done such an action since last year. They have not yet gone after sites such as YouTube. We are thinking that they look at this as free advertising as opposed to serious pirating, which they say has cost them billions of dollars of loss.
Pullmylink claims it has 12,000 visitors a day and more than 39,000 pages of free content. Their Superpass offers 100+ ad-free radio stations, 10 music downloads a month, RealPlayerPlus, and live feeds, such as the one for Big Brother. With their 14 day free trial, you had better hurry, just in case.

Paul McCartney Makes Heather Mills a Millionaire
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Music, Divorce, Legal Issues,
Come next week, Heather Mills will not just be the most-hated women in Britain, she’ll also be one of the wealthiest.
According to UK’s Daily Mail, there may finally be an end to the Paul McCartney-Heather Mills divorce saga. The two, who announced their separation back in May 2006, have been negotiating in court over the past week. The Beatle and the Dancing with the Stars contender were married back in June 2002.
The Mail claims Mills is expected to receive a $110 million settlement. That figure is based on $40 million lump sum for her, and approximately $5 million per year for the McCartney heir up until the age of 18. (Beatrice is currently 4-years-old.) Stella’s half-sis will also have a $2 million trust waiting for her when she comes of age. In all, Mills will be raking in approximately $27.5 million for each year she was married to the music legend.

Someone to Watch Over Britney
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Music, Celebrity Babies, Meltdowns, Breaking News,
It’s no secret that former pop star Britney Spears has had her fair share of troubles recently. She’s in a bitter custody battle with ex-hubby Kevin Federline, she’s been admitted to the hospital and she’s tragic media fodder. The latest reports say Brit will stay in the hospital for at least two weeks more, so now the whole issue has turned down a different path: who’s going to take care of Britney?
Father Jamie Spears was given control over Britney (and her various assets) when she was hospitalized, but all that may change at a Monday hearing. A neutral party, or a different relative, may gain control, according to sources close to the situation. There is also another custody-related hearing scheduled for Monday, the latest in a long string of court appearances which determine which parent will parent Britney’s two children. Unfortunately, it seems right now Spears isn’t capable of taking care of herself.

Britney Spears Loses Visitation Rights
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Gossip, News,

As a follow to emergency court proceedings held earlier today - prompted by Britney Spears’ strange behavior last night - a commissioner has just given full physical and legal custody of Sean Preston and Jayden James to their father, Kevin Federline.
The current order is only in effect until January 14th, but at least it’s a step in the right direction. Another hearing will be held later to determine how things will proceed from there.

Is Britney Spears Potentially Insane?
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Gossip, Rumors,
Though Carole Lieberman of UCLA won’t be the first to speculate on the sanity of Miss Spears, her “mental illness report card” is still being given attention by US Weekly and other media outlets. Frankly, I say she’s anything but insane, and instead savvy to the way the press works. Citing mood swings, an inability to cope with daily life, displays of uncaring feelings, poor sleeping and dietary patterns and excess anxiety, the report says that Spears may in fact have psychological troubles. That would make most of America completely insane.
In other Britney Spears news, the lawyer working for ex-hubby Kevin Federline has issued a subpoena to TMZ. Let me rephrase that. An online gossip site is going to be the source of K-Fed’s next legal maneuver. I’m trying to find some way to make this seem less silly…it just isn’t possible. The story on TMZ showed Brit, kids in tow, running a red light in her vehicle while doing something, possibly texting, on her mobile phone. Though K-Fed’s lawyer requested that Britney be prohibited from driving with the kids in the car, she is well within her legal right to do so. At least, right now she is.
If evidence from TMZ starts getting allowed in court, I suppose it’s possible Britney could end up going insane.

Hogwarts Gets a New Home
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Warner Bros, Adaptation, Adventure, Science Fiction, Sequels, Books,
Okay, so the books are set in Britain. But that didn’t stop India from battling Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling for the right to build a life-sized replica of the Hogwarts School for Witchcraft and Wizardry in their country. The Delhi High Court threw out Rowling’s claim that the building would be a copyright infringement, giving builders the go-ahead on the huge project. The building, being constructed out of papier mache and bamboo, will become part of the biggest Hindu religious celebration in eastern India this month. Hogwarts’ exterior will be completely replicated, even featuring an imitation marble staircase and stone floor in the entrance hall, which will be lit by flaming torches.
