Rihanna is served
Rihanna has been subpoenaed to testify against Chris Brown in his June 22nd trial. For a while it was thought that Rihanna would refuse to testify against Brown. But now that she has been seen out and about snuggling with Canadian rapper and actor Aubrey “Drake” Graham I have a feeling that she’s a lot more open to testifying.
Paris Hilton takes the cheesy way out
Paris Hilton has broken up with boyfriend Doug Reinhardt. Or rather, Hilton’s publicist has. The heiress decided to take the tacky road and reportedly had her publicist end the relationship. And then released an official statement to People magazine.
Hey, at least she didn’t dump him on Twitter.
Michael Lohan okay with Daughter’s reconciliation for now
Seems like Lilo’s dad Michael is okay with her getting back with Sam Ronson.
Bet that’s a load off her mind.
Pete Doherty arrested
Sometime musician and constant coke head Pete Doherty has been arrested for DUI and drug possession in Gloucester, England. This follows last Friday’s arrest in Switzerland for doing heroin on a plane.
You going for some kind of record, Pete? Why not try staying sober for more than a day?
Alba without a spine
Jessica Alba was caught on camera plastering shark posters all over Oklahmoa city as part of a protest of some kind of protest. Shortly after the actress issued a formal apology.
“I got involved in something I should have had no part of. I realize that I should have used better judgment, and I regret not thinking things through before I made a spontaneous and ill-advised decision to let myself get involved with the people behind this campaign.”
Way to protest, Jessica. For a second there I thought you were more than an actress whose main concern his how much money she makes. My bad.

Brown nosing
As his court date approaches, Chris Brown has decided to concentrate on his music. Robert Allen, a friend of Brown’s says, “Chris is focused. He knows how to deal with whatever is going on and is willing to do what he has to do to please his fans. He wants this to be his masterpiece. He’s predicting this will be his biggest album.”
Hey, Chris, if you want to please your fans how about owning up to the smack down you put on Rihanna?
Party like a thirteen year old
It seems that Angel and Kings, Pete Wentz’s New York City bar has been shut down for serving alcohol to minors. And it seems that it’s the third violation for the bar.
Might want to check what Petey is putting in that baby bottle, Ashley.
Drunk Petty
Actress Lori Petty has been arrested for DUI after hitting a skateboarder with her car while drunk.
Hey, at least she wasn’t driving a tank.
I’m a douchebag…get me out of here!
Two days into filming on the reality TV show, I’m a Celebrity ….Get me Out of Here! Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt have quit the show, not once but twice.
Seems they didn’t know what they were signing up for. Really? It’s being filmed in the jungles of Costa Rica. What in the heck were they expecting? If we’re lucky these two will drown. Well, maybe Spencer will. Heidi’s boobs will keep her afloat.
Four Found Guilty in Pirate Bay Case
Posted by Sheila Franklin Categories: Internet, Movies, Music,
A Stockholm court found the 3 founders and one “patron” behind The Pirate Bay guilty of collaboration to violate copyright laws. They were sentenced to a year in jail and must pay $3.6 million in damages to media companies. The site allows free exchange of movies, music, games and software with its 3.5 million users but does not host them. As yet, there is no order to shut down the site and the defendants plan on appealing the judgment.

Chris Brown’s Day in Court
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Music, Break-ups, Legal Issues, Rumors,
Chris Brown, the R&B singer who allegedly assaulted his then-girlfriend Rihanna, will find himself in front of a judge this afternoon. Almost two months after the headline-making incident, Brown will enter his plea for two felonies. He’s being charged with assault with force likely to produce great bodily injury, and for making criminal threats.
This will be Brown’s second appearance in court to answer to the charges. Last month, Brown and his attorney requested (and received) a postponement. The hearing will now take place this afternoon, behind closed doors.
E! Online will offer a live feed of the proceedings, which will be available beginning at 3pm PT. According to the attorneys involved, Rihanna has been “a cooperating victim” for the prosecution. Currently, she’s staying in Barbados.

Judge Rules in Favor of Family Guy
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Animation, Comedy, Prime Time, FOX, Family Guy, Gossip,
FOX’s animated Family Guy is not guilty of copyright infringement, per court ruling, for a song parody featured in one of the episodes.
The episode offered up a new version of Disney’s “When You Wish Upon a Star,” which subsequently launched a lawsuit from the major corporation in 2007. The ditty originally appeared in the 1940 flick Pinocchio. The Family Guy version, “I Need a Jew,” was perhaps a little less family-friendly…but it wasn’t illegal.
Despite the content of the song - “anti-Semitic lyrics” - a U.S. District Judge ruled that the lyrics of the song and tone of the piece was “strikingly different” from the original version. Since winning the Academy Award for Best Original Song after its film debut, “When You Wish Upon a Star” has been recorded by more than one hundred subsequent recording artists and orchestras.

Apple to Settle nano Class-Action Suit
Posted by Sheila Franklin Categories: Apple, Portable Audio / Video,
It looks like there will be a settlement in the ongoing 4 year, $22 million class-action suit against Apple. The company must set aside that amount for first-gen nano owners with scratched screens. According to the suit, many of them weren’t “coated” and were subject to “excessive scratching.” Those who received a slip case with their iPod may be entitled to $15.00, while those who did not can get $25.00. A judge still needs to sign off on the suit and a hearing will take place April 28. More information is available here.

Britney Spears: A Passenger in Her Own Life
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Music, Child Stars, Legal Issues, Rumors,
Papers were filed Monday with the L.A. Superior Court that have pretty well sealed the fate of one Britney Spears, who from now on will no longer be the captain of her own ship. That’s right - Daddy’s got control, and he’s going to keep it.
Jamie Spears has officially been awarded permanent conservatorship, or guardianship, of daughter Britney. He’ll determine what to do with her finances, career and personal life from now on…until the agreement is severed through death or the court system. Spears now has the legal right to pull the strings on Brit’s life, even to “restrict and limit visitors by any means.”
Seriously, does this sound a little ominous to anyone else?
Jamie Spears reportedly received a raise for his guardianship role recently, getting bumped up to $75 per hour. The raise gave him an income hike of about $51,000 annually. Now, he makes around 16 large per month just to hold Brit’s hand, tell her what to do and in general run her life. Basically, he’s getting paid to take care of his daughter. ...Is it me, or is that weird?
Lord Acton’s words from 1887 are often paraphrased into a famous quote which I think is relevant here:
“Power corrupts. Absolute power corrupts absolutely.”

Psion Asks Companies Not to Use “Netbook”
Posted by Sheila Franklin Categories: Corporate News, Editorial, PC / Laptop,
So much turmoil over such a small thing, literally. Psion owns the trademark to the Netbook, a device they actually created and later discontinued. But it seems as if they would like to make sure that no one else uses the name. jk on the run first found about the dilemma, and seems to be in contact with their “people” who want to make their intentions perfectly clear. They have sent out letters to retailers and manufacturers who are using the term in their products. We were thinking they should be flattered by all the fuss, but what do you think? And what term should be, as they call it, a “legitimate generic?” Mini-book? Notebook-minus? Should we stage a protest or hold a contest?

Court Date Set for Watchmen Lawsuit
Posted by Robin Paulson Categories: 20th Century Fox, Warner Bros, Action, Adaptation, Adventure, Mystery, Noir, Political, Thrillers, Corporate Shakeups, Distribution, Filmmaking, Upcoming Releases,
While most Watchmen fans only had the film’s release countdown to consider, a new development in the Watchmen copyright lawsuit has added a new date to watch out for: January 6.
U.S. District Court Judge Gary Allen Feess assigned the date for the case, which is set to decide whether or not Fox does hold the rights to the Watchmen movie. Between the January 6 court date and the film’s scheduled March 6 release, let’s hope that things go in the fans’ favor and they settle this between that time.
If the case goes according to Fox, fans of the highly-anticipated Zack Snyder film will never see that March 6 release happen, which could very well happen come January.
The dispute goes back to 1991, when Fox “quitclaimed” its right to Alan Moore‘s acclaimed graphic novel to Largo Entertainment, with an agreement that the production company was to release the movie under the big studio (if not, Largo Entertainment was to buy the rights through an agreed buyout formula from Fox).
