Belkin Employee Asks Turkers for Amazon Reviews

Anyone who has ever Turked knows that there are some pretty silly requests sometimes for very little bucks (most are less than a nickel each, depending on the complexity and work involved.) It seems that Belkin employee Michael Bayard (or someone using his name) posted a hit on the site offering $.65 for positive reviews on the company’s products listed on Amazon. After being contacted, Belkin’s president Mark Reynoso issued a response, apologized and claimed that they have removed all postings as well as the fake reviews.

Bleeding Edge TV 299: Zune Holiday 2008 Hardware & Accessory lineup

We’ve made it clear a few times that we feel that the platform has progressed nicely since it’s inception, especially with the introduction of the , which we feel is the best deal in music today. Definitely something we recommend this holiday season. So much so, in fact, that we have put together a video showing off every Zune device that is currently available, as well as some of the cooler accessories available for the device set. We show off the Zune 80, Zune 120, Gears of War 2 Special Edition Zune, the flash Zunes, and even a Zune Originals piece.

On the accessories side, we give you a look at the Kicker stereo for Zune, a few cases, armbands, car accessories, and the Home A/V Kit. See? Told you we brought the goods to this one. Check out the video for the scoop on everything, and let us know if you end up picking any of it up.

Holiday Gift Guide 2008: Belkin Conserve surge protector

Belkin ConserveWe know, you’re wondering why on Earth we’d be recommending a surge protector as a gift, right? Well, the Conserve line is actually pretty cool. In the interest of being green, we are recommending a power strip that is great for the eco-concious folks in your life. You’re able to turn off all connected devices with one switch. Outlets are spaced out to support those unsightly bulky ones, and there is even a remote you can use to control the flow of power. Since electronics pull power, even when powered off, that means you’re wasting electricity constantly unless you unplug your devices when you are done using them. The Belkin Concserve fixes that. They retail for $49.99, but we were able to find them for 24% less - $38.24 at Amazon.

Belkin Mini Surge Protector with USB Charger

Belkin USB Powerstrip

The new Mini Surge Protector with USB Charger seems to be all the rage across the Internets over the past couple of days. After checking it out, we think it’s with good reason. After traveling to events like and SXSW, we know how much power outlets and USB chargers are a commodity. Belkin solves a bit of that here by providing a surge protector that offers three power ports alongside two charging ports. Very clever, as we know that we have been left charging devices - that support USB charging - using the AC adaptor. Good job there. It also frees up the USB ports on your laptop when you are on the go, which we know is particularly important if you are toting around a .

You can pick one of these up for $25 from Belkin’s product store.

Expression SleeveThe first of the MacBook Air accessories are already upon us. Belkin has come out with several covers. This one is the Expression Sleeve with shoulder strap, and others include the Vertical, the Slim-Fit, the Leather/Neoprene, the Neoprene, and the Slim-Fit with band. All of the cases are priced from $29.99 to $49.99 and come with lifetime warranties. The Neoprenes will be out in March with the others to follow in May. While there is nothing particularly unique about the cases, if you need to be official, this certainly beats your old MacBook cover.

CES 2008 Video: Belkin’s new KVM, Rockstar, and more

At Pepcom’s Digital Experience, we had a chance to interview and get an up close and personal look at all the new peripherals they introduced at this year. Take a look at the video to see their 4-way, USB- and audio-enabled KVM switch, available this summer for $169. Additionally, they demoed an intelligent surge protector with six individually controlled outlets and two always-on outlets. Add to this a wireless on/off switch to activate or kill the six outlets and you have a nifty device to help kill the phantom power drain that’s so prevalent in today’s chargers and adapters when they’re not in use.

We also check out a few cool and peripherals and the Rockstar—a five way minijack (headphone) splitter, available for $39.95 this summer.

And finally, we take a quick look at the N52te gamer “WASD replacement” pad. With a bunch of programmable macro options, an integrated scroll wheel and just enough buttons to get things done in TF2, it’s going on sale this month for $69.99 with a first look in the video.

Bleeding Edge TV 135: Belkin Shows Off The TuneStudio for iPod

has just released details on their TuneStudio for iPod. This thing is fairly amazing. It’s a portable mixer that records directly to an iPod, and connects to a computer as well. If you are a DJ, or even a podcaster, this thing is awesome. Imagine having four inputs all recording directly into your iPod for immediate playback - even better, throw in a computer, and that gives you an extra output to work with, and it’s program independent. It works with both Macs and PCs, and will run for $179 when it launches in Summer 2007.
