We are ramping up our efforts on the multimedia front. Of course, we have started our weekly video show, The Bleeding Edge. Now, we are hitting you up on a daily basis with our audio podcast. The daily shows will be much shorter (think 5-10 minutes), and will just cover interesting tidbits we found throughout that day. In today’s episode:

Hello Gear Live readers! I would like to take this moment to introduce myself and let you all know that I’ll be blogging for Gear Live for the next month or so, and possibly beyond. I am an overall geek and my platform of choice is the Mac running OS X. I run a New Media Consultancy as well as work as a SysAdmin / Engineer for a large printing company. I’ll be covering mainly Mac and gaming related topics, but you’ll probably see everything from cars to airplanes and all sorts of gadgets and gear in-between. I look forward to being part of the Gear Live team and hope you enjoy what I write. So, back in July we were the first to report on the Optimus OLED keyboard. After we posted it, everyone and their mother picked it up - just check out the press clippings area on the Optimus site (notice - we are the earliest!). This is the keyboard that took the Internet by storm. In just a few days, the precursor to the Optimus Keyboard will be unveiled - that being the Optimus Mini Three.

Here we are again, growing at a rate that we never thought would be imaginable for an independent entity, and we are now ready to grow a bit more. That being said, Gear Live Media is looking to add another blogger into the mix. If you are interested in making a name for yourself while writing about technology and consumer electronics, drop us a line. Live From CES: Netomat Hub Makes Fun For Friends

Another Showstopper hit, Netomat’s hub software really piqued our interest. It’s best to watch my interview (above, special thanks to Andru for starting on a frame that makes me look like a giant douche.) for the full scoop on this unique software that launched just last night, but here’s the basics: After creating a free netomat account, you are sent their software client to your phone. The phone software works on Java using WAP or GPRS data services, so you don’t pay per message. Once you accept the client, it’s time to invite some friends to your hub. After your friends join up, quite a few features come out of the woodwork. For one, you’re able to see if your friends are online, offline or on a call. Any time you take a picture with your camera phone, with one click, you can send it to everyone in your hub. Using something called WAP push, your friends running the netomat software will instantly receive a prompt asking if they want to see what you’re pushing.
Netomat also features some really fun desktop software, including a small system tray-based widget that notifies you on your computer when a post to the hub has been made. Even better, you can quickly and simply drag and drop any RSS feed from your browser to the netomat software and create a hub around it that your friends can subscribe to. You’ll receive every RSS clip that comes into the feed, straight to your phone, at your leisure. Additionally, their web site lets you send images from your PC to your hub and lets you see all the activity on the feed. Best of all, it’s all free.
Also, be sure to look for our feed to be featured on netomat through an exciting co-branding with them.

starting our packing and finalizing our CES schedules. We hit Vegas tomorrow afternoon, and plan on four days of gadget uber-love to exude from our pores. We are primed and ready to bring you up-to-the-minute coverage right from the show floor, from behind closed doors, and from those CES parties we know and love.
