Video: How to create your own Beats by Dr. Dre headphones
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Wearables, Design, Mods / Hacks, Music, Videos,
Here at Gear Live, we know just how popular the Beats by Dr. Dre line of headphones can be. After all, when we post about them, those are typically the most read items of the day. However, while they look good and have great endorsements behind them, some people prefer other models of headphones due to the audio profile. What is one to do if the Beats profile isn't the sound they crave, but the Beats look is exactly what they're looking for? One option is to grabs some spray paint and get to work.
Casey Neistat just posted a video on YouTube that shows how he turned a pair of Bose QuietComfort 15 headphones into Beats by Dr. Dre knockoffs. Sure, he may have sprayed over the microphone that the headphones rely on for noise cancellation, but sometimes that's the price you've gotta pay to look good.
10 awesome LEGO machines that really work
Posted by Andrey Malskiy Categories: Design, Toys, Videos,
There were many things growing up that got our attention as children. Shiny things, loud things, things with wheels, knobs, buttons, and so forth. That said, only one toy could truly capture our imagination and creativity—LEGO. So simple, yet so brilliant. Our love of building with LEGO hasn’t died, and by the looks of it, we aren’t the only ones with a soft spot for the bricks. We've just found a compilation of ten amazing LEGO machines that really work. Our favorite is posted above, but if you wanna see the other 9 designs (and you should!) hit the source link below.

Chrysler’s “Halftime in America” ad spoofed by 30 Rock (video!)
Posted by Andrey Malskiy Categories: Home Entertainment, Transportation, Videos,

Chrysler has been seeing record-breaking sales numbers lately, thanks both to successful redesigns on most of its cars, as well as its attention-getting ad campaign. That said, like all good things, a spoof or two makes a great ad even better. Saturday Night Live did its parody rendition of the ad, and now 30 Rock has jumped on board as well. Though this time, furniture selling was the name of the game. Check it out.

Fifth Ave. Frogger makes you play against real-time NYC traffic flow
Posted by Andrey Malskiy Categories: Casual, Culture, Retro,

Since we’re on the topic of childhood memories today, one of the first video games I remember being exposed to was Frogger, followed by Grand Turismo, which explains the ever present need for speed, power, and having my traffic court lawyer on speed dial. But that’s a different story in and of its self.
The Smithsonian Museum has opened its doors to video games. Among the classic video games that grace its halls are Pac-Man, Super Mario Brothers, and other household classics. However, Frogger is no were to be found in the line up.
We, along with other, more creative activists, feel that the Frogger snub is an injustice! How do you rep a 30-year-old game in modern times? Well, take Frogger to New York City and attempt to get him across a street of traffic. Oh, and make sure it's based on real time traffic flow in order to make the game near impossible to complete. If you’re not located in NYC, get a look at the action in the video below, then head on over to the Smithsonian’s Facebook page and tell them you want Frogger.

Rally car crashes into pole at full speed, only to recover and finish second (video!)
Posted by Andrey Malskiy Categories: Transportation, Videos,

The world of rally racing isn’t one for the faint of heart. Hitting bends at break-neck speeds is sketchy enough on pavement, but add gravel and snow to that mix and you’ve got disaster waiting to happen. Here's an example. The drivers name is Crazy Leo (with a name like that you can expect something ridiculous to happen.) In this video, Leo hits a pole at full-throttle, and somehow still places second in this race. Check it out.
Dropbox will give you 3 GB of extra free space to upload your photos and images
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Cameras, Internet, Storage,
Dropbox has updated its Mac and Windows apps with the ability to upload photos and videos directly from cameras, smartphones, tablets, SD cards (pretty much anything that can capture photos or media,) directly to your Dropbox account. The feature has been in beta for a couple of months, and has now been rolled out to the masses.
Worried about all those extra pics taking up your storage space? Dropbox has you covered there as well. With the first image you upload, Dropbox will increase your storage by 500 MB. Then, for every additional 500 MB of photos and videos you upload, they'll grant you another 500 MB of space, up to a total 3 GB of extra storage. Even better, if you decide you no longer want your images in your Dropbox, simply delete them--you'll keep the extra 3 GB of space!
Download the latest version of Dropbox to get in on the action.
