Katy Perry and Rihanna Waiting for Greatness
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Collaborations, Upcoming Releases, Pop,
Katy Perry's collaboration with Rihanna is taking so long because "you have to wait for greatness."
The "Part of Me" singer has planned to record a song with her friend for a long time, but it is taking time because they are searching for the right track.
"We collaborate on a lot of things, just not songs yet - we have a great friendship. Its' one of those things where it's gotten so much build up that if we don't' deliver, like, the best song... We're both busy, but we planted a seed two years ago, we're just looking for that special one. How disappointed would you be if that song came out and it wasn't that good? So sometimes you have to wait for greatness," she said.
Katy explained she would like the track to be iconic and empowering, rather than sexy, like Shakira and Beyonce's 2007 single "Beautiful Liar."
"I was telling her, you know the Eurythmics song featuring Aretha Franklin, 'Sisters are Doing it for Themselves'? That's like the kind of song which I'd like to do, rather than 'Beautiful Liar' - although that is still a great song. I loved that but I definitely want to do something which is iconic."

Janet Jackson is set to open the upcoming American Music Awards (AMAs).
The “All For You” hitmaker will sing a medley to start the November 22 ceremony, which sees her late brother Michael Jackson nominated in five categories.
“We’re thrilled about having Janet Jackson open this year’s show,” American Music Awards producer Larry Klein said. “She is an incredibly dynamic performer and I think the audience will be excited to see what she has in store.”
This will be the fourth AMAs performance for the Janet, who has won nine of the awards in previous years, and follows her moving tribute to her brother at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards in September. On November 18, Jackson will also be featured in a primetime interview with ABC’s Robin Roberts.
Other stars to perform at this year’s AMAs at Los Angeles’ Nokia Theatre include Lady Gaga, Eminem, Jay-Z, Shakira, Rihanna, Jennifer Lopez, Green Day, Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood.

Shakira’s Plump Past

Although her hips don’t lie, Shakira admits she hasn’t always been in as good shape as she is now.
“As a teenager I was plump but my appearance wasn’t so important at that time. I focused much more on my music and song writing,” she revealed. “I know that image in this profession is a matter of opinion. I think the external appearance in show business is important and over the years I’ve discovered my assets. Honestly, I’ve never seen myself as a goddess or sex symbol.”
