Axl Rose Booed at Rock And Roll Hall of Fame Ceremony

Axl Rose was booed at the Rock And Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony on Saturday when his name was mentioned.
The singer refused to attend the 27th Annual event in Cleveland, Ohio, where his band Guns N' Roses were being inducted for their contribution to music.
Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong presented former members Slash, Duff McKagan, Steven Adler and Matt Sorum with their accolade, and when he asked "who was missing," the 6,000 in attendance jeered and booed.
"Most singers are crazy, I can vouch for that. He is one of the best frontmen to ever touch a microphone. Sometimes you have to look back at chapters of your life to move forward," Armstrong added.
Rose - who has continued to tour under the Guns N' Roses name with a new line-up - is the first artist to publicly snub the Rock And Roll Hall of Fame since the Sex Pistols refused to accept their induction in 2006.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame will induct Axl Rose with Guns N' Roses even though he has refused the honor.
The 50-year-old co-founder of the group - who has been locked in a feud with former band mate Slash for the last 15 years - insists he will not attend the ceremony in Cleveland, Ohio, on Saturday and does not want his name to be inducted in his absence, but organizers say they will continue as planned.
"We are sorry Axl will not be able to accept his induction in person. We are looking forward to still inducting Guns N' Roses this weekend and will proceed forward with our original plan whether Axl is present or not," a spokesperson told E! News.
In an open letter to the Hall of Fame, Axl said he initially felt "honored" and "excited" by the invitation and hoped some good would come out of it. However, after being "polite, courteous and open to an amicable solution in our efforts to work something out," Axl decided to boycott the event:

ABBA Inducted Into Hall of Fame

Benny Andersson never expected ABBA to make it to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
The Swedish foursome will join the prestigious roll of honor much to the surprise of the “Waterloo” hitmakers. The musical group join The Hollies, The Stooges, Genesis and Jimmy Cliff in the upcoming induction.
“I didn’t think this would happen, because we were a pop band, not a rock band. Being a foreigner from the North Pole, this feels really good,” Andersson said.

Musician Jeff Beck will be stepping in for Eric Clapton later this week during festivities for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The 64-year-old guitarist was forced to cancel his Madison Square Garden performance after undergoing surgery for gallstones.
Beck is just one of several musicians lined up for the two-day benefit event in New York. Stevie Wonder, Sting, Paul Simon and Crosby, Stills & Nash are amongst those scheduled for Thursday while Aretha Franklin, Lenny Kravitz, U2 and Metallica are on the slate for Friday.
Bruce Springsteen - who canceled an appearance in Kansas City yesterday after a death in his family - is also supposed to appear on Thursday.
Clapton is reportedly doing well and is recovering from his operation in England.

No Run-D.M.C. Performance at Hall of Fame Ceremony
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Awards, Hip-Hop & Rap,

Even though they will become only the second hip hip act inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Run-D.M.C. won’t be bringing the house down this weekend.
At Saturday’s ceremony in Cleveland, attendees will not see any musical performance from the two remaining survivors of the group. Instead, a video montage will be used to celebrate their history.
After the shooting death of DJ Jason “Jam Master Jay” Mizell in 2002, Joseph “Rev Run” Simmons and Darryl “DMC” McDaniels made the decision not to perform together again. “For me, I tell people, ‘Do you want to see me and Run running around without Jay?’ ” DMC told MTV News. “They tell me I could get Grandmaster Flash [to fill in]. But I can get any DJ in the world if I want. It wouldn’t be right. I can’t replace my drummer.”
