Mix Tape: Seth MacFarlane, Hugh Laurie to Record Separate Albums

-Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane is working on a new project: an album comprised of show tunes. MacFarlane, who’ll be backed by a big band and live orchestra, will sing tunes from the ‘40s and ‘50s.

-House‘s Hugh Laurie will also be tapping into his musical side. The British actor is set to record an album influenced by the blues sound from New Orleans.

-Congratulations to Take That’s Robbie Williams. The 36-year-old singer married actress Ayda Field over the weekend in Beverly Hills.

-Yoko Ono says we shouldn’t hold our breaths waiting for The Beatles’ catalogue to hit the iTunes store anytime soon. (Maybe she’s waiting for Verizon to start offering the iPhone?)

-A Jay-Z memoir will drop on November 16. Decoded was completed a few years ago, before the rapper’s official marriage to Beyonce.

Mix Tape: Sluggish Sales for Lilith Fair, Engagement for Miranda Lambert

-Are the days of big Lilith Fair tours already over? Organizer Sarah McLachlan admits ticket sales for the 2010 version are “pretty soft.”

-Jay-Z and Eminem will both be in an Empire State of Mind when they perform together at Yankee Stadium on September 13. That event will be preceded by a joint Comerica Park appearance in Detroit on Sept. 2.

-Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton will soon be making sweet country music together. The two artists became engaged earlier this month.

-Greyson Chance, the YouTube star who sang “Paparazzi,” now has a record deal with Interscope Records. I wonder if he’ll finish sixth grade first.

-Norway’s a-ha played their last US concert last weekend. The “Take on Me” singers will be disbanding at the end of this year after nearly 30 years together.

How Pink Lured Her Husband Back

Pink says she fooled her husband into taking her back.

The “So What” singer reconciled with Carey Hart in January after almost a year apart and says she deliberately gave the motocross star a gift that would make him re-evaluate the problems in their marriage. “I gave him a photograph album of us together. I was like, ‘I don’t want to have this anymore, I think you should have it.’ It was a bit of trickery but it worked,” she explained.

The 30-year-old also revealed she is much happier now than she was 10 years ago because her life previously lacked direction.

“I hadn’t really done anything. I didn’t know what it takes to stick up for yourself or to make your own path or to put everything on the line because you believe in it,” she told The Times newspaper.

Pink first met Carey at the 2001 X Games. They split for a short period in 2003, but got back together and tied the knot in Costa Rica in January 2006 before their second separation.
