U2 Album Won’t Be Released Until 2015

U2 won't release a new album until next year.
Although the band have performed live - appearing at The Oscars, The Golden Globes and on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon - and debuted two new tracks, "Ordinary Love" and "Invisible," they are still trying to perfect songs for their new album.
"It seems to be taking longer for them to finish an album as they get older, but the great thing about U2 is that the whole of a record is always better than the sum of its parts. That magic that the band always seems to capture ... they have yet to capture it, a source told Billboard.
The album is being helmed by executive producer Danger Mouse and U2 - Bono, The Edge, Adam Clayton, and Larry Mullen - have scheduled further sessions with producers Ryan Tedder and Paul Epworth to complete the as-yet-untitled record.

Bono Pens Essay Tribute to Nelson Mandela
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Rock,
U2 frontman Bono has paid tribute to Nelson Mandela by writing an essay on the late anti-apartheid revolutionary.
The 53-year-old singer, who along with his bandmates contributed the song "Ordinary Love" to the biopic Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom - based on the former South African President's autobiography of the same name - penned an extended piece on the anti-apartheid leader, who died last night aged 95, after hearing of his passing.
In 1051-word essay for Time magazine entitled "The Man Who Could Not Cry," Bono - who has helped try to end global poverty for a number of years - described Mandela as a "forceful presence" in his life since 1979. "As an activist I have pretty much been doing what Nelson Mandela tells me since I was a teenager. He has been a forceful presence in my life going back to 1979, when U2 made its first anti-apartheid effort. Over the years we became friends. I, like everyone else, was mesmerized by his deft maneuvering as leader of South Africa. It certainly fell to Mandela to be great. His role in the movement against extreme poverty was critical. He worked for a deeper debt cancellation, for a doubling of international assistance across sub-Saharan Africa, for trade and private investment and transparency to fight corruption. Without his leadership, would the world over the past decade have increased the number of people on AIDS medication to 9.7 million and decreased child deaths by 2.7 million a year? Without Mandela, would Africa be experiencing its best decade of growth and poverty reduction? His indispensability can't be proved with math and metrics, but I know what I believe..." he wrote.

Chris Martin Working on U2 Album?

Chris Martin is rumored to be helping U2 with their new album.
The Coldplay frontman reportedly joined the Irish rockers - Bono, The Edge, Adam Clayton and Larry Mullen Jr. - at Electric Lady Studios in New York City, where they have been working on their 13th album with producer Danger Mouse. According to fan site atu2.com, "Our reporter saw Coldplay's Chris Martin arrive, followed by Larry Mullen Jr. about two minutes later. Shortly after that, a van arrived with three guitars - each with a white label that said 'U2/Edge' - and our reporter actually helped bring the gear into the studio. He saw Larry and Chris Martin together in another room before heading back outside."
The site says when Chris was later approached, he denied he had been in the studio.
The singer is a good friend of Bono and a long time fan of U2, previously saying of the group, "We respect any musician, particularly ones who have kept going and not changed line-up and have always been good."

I hope you’re still holding on to those unused U2 concert tickets.
Although Bono underwent emergency back surgery in May, the lead singer has been “rebuilt by German engineering” and is - as seen in the video - back on the road to recovery. This means the band will soon be back on the road and performing in stadiums around the world.
The group will first wrap up the European leg of their summer tour (those dates were unaffected) beginning with the August 6th stop in Turin, Italy. The previously scheduled stops in North America will then kick off in May 2011.
For more information on the new dates, you check out information posted on the band’s website here.

Bono‘s trip to Salt Lake City has taken an unexpected detour - toward the hospital.
The singer, who is in the middle of a worldwide tour with U2, is currently receiving medical treatment in Germany. “Bono has today undergone emergency back surgery for an injury sustained during tour preparation training,” a statement on the band’s website explains. “He was admitted to a specialist neuro surgery unit in a Munich hospital, and is under the care of neuro surgeon Prof. Dr. Jorg Tonn and Dr Muller Wohlfahrt. Bono Not Worth the Money
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Gossip, Performances, Rock,
Bono thinks he is “overpaid.”
The U2 rocker - who is worth an estimated $660 million - says he devotes so much of his time to charitable projects because he believes he has more money than he deserves to have.
Speaking at the launch of Nike’s “Lace Up. Save Lives” campaign - which raises money for HIV charity (Red) - he said: “These guys are very wealthy. I am very well paid, overpaid and even over-rewarded for what I do. But a lot of these soccer guys are giving something back and they don’t need to do that.”
Meanwhile, Bono admits he and his bandmates are “delighted and humbled” to have been asked to headline next year’s Glastonbury Festival, which is celebrating its 40th anniversary.

U2‘s world tour costs $750,000 a day to stage - even when the band has the day off. Bono, The Edge, Larry Mullen Jr. and Adam Clayton’s current 360 Degree tour - which features a huge stage called “The Claw” - is so expensive to run it is yet to make a profit, even after 33 concerts.
The “Get on Your Boots” rockers have played across Europe and North America since kicking off the run of concerts in Barcelona, Spain, on June 30.
