Activision helped kick off this year’s E3 Expo with an event that pleased both gaming and music fans.

Last night at the Staples Center, a list of musical performers - including Usher, Will.i.am, Jane’s Addiction, N.E.R.D. and Chris Cornell - helped get the crowd pumped up during the video game preview.

In the clip above, you can see joined by surprise guest Rihanna for their new song “Love the Way You Lie.” The track is featured on the rapper’s new album, Recovery, which is due out next week.

What’s better than hearing play his guitar solo on “Sweet Child O’ Mine”? Watching him continue to play it after being rushed by a fan.

On June 10, the former Guns N’ Roses musician was in the middle of a performance in Milan, Italy when he was (rudely) greeted by a surprise guest. (Cue the video to the 1:15 mark.) The good news? The shirtless jerk got a bigger piece of the floor than he did of Slash. The bad news? The rocker eventually had to have his broken Les Paul guitar replaced.

After the show, Slash addressed the incident on his own Facebook page. “Rowdy crowd for sure. But amazing! The guy who nailed me didn’t take me down but he busted my poor gtr. Ah well, it was a kick ass rock show in the 1st order!”

Sometimes a song comes along that is so fun and catchy, you don’t mind singing it repeatedly—until you’ve you completely banned the tune from your household.

While I haven’t (yet) written off Train’s “Soul Sister,” I’m coming dangerously close. But in the meantime, I going to listen to the cover it a few times more. I mean, after all, it really feels like those girls were meant to sing that song to begin with.

TMZ has unearthed a copy of a track Lee recorded in his pre-Idol days: a cover of Marilyn Manson’s “Beautiful People.”

The song never made it on an album, but now you can to it as much as you like.

If I ever hear another hopeful sing Tracy Chapman’s “Give Me One Reason” another time, I swear I’ll scream. That’s why this Chapman cover by two Idol vets is so refreshing—and awesome.

On Sunday night, Season 1 winner and Season 5 contestant Chris Daughtry collaborated on “Fast Car” before a crowd in Nashville. Ticket sales from Daughtry’s concert were donated to help with flood relief in the area.

If you were shocked to see Bret Michaels back up and performing on the American Idol finale, you weren’t the only one. According to the Poison frontman, his physicians were also kept out of the loop.

“The doctors, I didn’t tell them I was going to do this,” Michaels admitted to Us Weekly. “I never told them I was coming here. They’re going to find out in a few minutes!”

Gorillaz-Glastonbury may be down a U2 performance, but its picked up some Gorillaz. The music festival has recruited the group to help fill the hole left behind due to Bono’s emergency surgery.

-YouTube star Greyson Chance didn’t sign with Interscope Records after all. He’ll now be working with eleveneleven, a record label American Idol judge Ellen DeGeneres created just to sign him.

-Behind the Music will return to VH1 next month. A DMX special will kick it off on June 7. A Christina Aguilera hour will follow on June 13.

-World Trade Center‘s Andrea Berloff is in the middle of penning Straight Outta Compton, a biopic about rap group N.W.A. Ice Cube is one of the project’s producers.
