Usher and Justin BieberJustin Bieber's rise to fame reminds Usher of his own career.

The "Climax" singer is a mentor to the "Baby" hitmaker and revealed he loves being involved in 18-year-old Justin's career because it brings back memories of when he was first starting out.

"I relive every bit of it, from the screaming fans and the first reactions, shutting down the malls. The first reaction is like no other. To be able to be there, to be there with him and go through those emotions and see that shock for the first time [is exciting]," he told MTV.

Usher also explained he isn't worried about Justin going off the rails because he has good friends and supporters around him: "Cool part about it is, he's really able to live a dream that I think most teenagers would want to. To be able to have friends like [boxer Floyd] Mayweather. They are actual friends, hang out, talk. It's really cool to be able to have friends all around the world and people that can relate to your reality. I don't think Michael [Jackson] had people like that. I didn't have a ton of people like that. I had Puff [P. Diddy]. I had JD [producer Jermaine Dupri] ... but to be able to have friends all around the world that keep you, it's cool."

Donna SummerDonna Summer has died at the age of 63. The "Last Dance" singer passed away this morning in Florida after a battle with cancer. According to gossip website TMZ, the Queen of Disco had attempted to keep the extent of her illness from fans and was recently trying to finish up her latest album.

Donna was a five-time Grammy Award winner and the first artist to have three consecutive double albums reach number one on the Billboard chart. She also charted four number-one singles in the United States within a thirteen-month period.

Donna, who was born LaDonna Adrian Gaines in 1948, married actor Helmuth Sommer in 1973 before giving birth to the couple's daughter Mimi later that year. Although the marriage crumbled in 1975, she kept an altered version of her ex's surname to use as her stage name. She married Brooklyn Dreams musician Bruce Sudano in 1980 and the couple went on to have two daughters, Brooklyn, born in 1981 and Amanda the following year. In 1994, the family moved from Los Angeles to Nashville where Donna took time out from showbusiness to focus on painting but had recently returned to the recording studio.

Amy Winehouse and Adele

Amy Winehouse felt "competitive" towards Adele.

The "Rehab" singer - who passed away from accidental alcohol poisoning last year - was ''freaked out'' by the worldwide acclaim "Someone Like You" hitmaker Adele received, according to their mutual friend Mark Ronson. "She was in a bad state, God knows why. I think that the Adele thing had Amy freaked out. She liked her, but Adele's success was making Amy feel upset, competitive, restless. Anyway, we lost touch briefly. And before she and I could really start the process of beginning a new album, it was too late," he said.

Bill WardBlack Sabbath drummer Bill Ward will not take part in the bands reunion shows.

The original line up of the group - Bill, Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Iommi and Geezer Butler - came together last year to play a series of shows and record their first album together in 33 years, but Bill has backed out of the project, saying he won't agree to the contract he was offered.

"I sincerely regret to inform you that after a final effort to participate in the upcoming Sabbath shows a failure to agree has continued. It is with a very sad heart that I bring you this news. I have to stand for something, and as painful as it is, I'm doing it," he wrote on his website.

Shortly after the band announced their reunion in November, and started work on the new album, Tony was diagnosed with lymphoma. As a result of his treatment the band's planned tour had to be cut to just three dates, starting in their hometown, Birmingham, England, on Saturday. The band will also close Britain's Download Festival on June 10 and perform at the Lollapalooza festival in the US on August 3.

Lady GagaLady Gaga has been refused a permit to perform in Jakarta, Indonesia.

The "Born This Way" singer was due to perform the biggest show on the Asian leg of her Born This Way Ball in the city on June 3, but has been denied a work permit by local police after objections from Islamic groups.

Boy Rafli Amar, a spokesperson for Jakarta police said the permit had been denied after protests against the singer's sexualized image, provocative dance moves and allegations she could underline the country's moral fibre.

Promoter Big Daddy had already sold 52,000 tickets, with a further 2,000 being made available yesterday.

Indonesia is the largest Muslim country in the world with 240 million people, and groups including Muslim Defenders Team and Islamic Defenders Front (FPI) said they would not tolerate Gaga appearing in the country. The latter threatened to ask its 30,000 supporters to forcibly prevent Gaga stepping off the plane.

Vampire WeekendVampire Weekend have "many songs" ready for their third album.

The "Cape Cod Kwassa Kwassa" group are working on their next album and plotting to take their sound into uncharted territory. "The goal is to do something new with each record. I like the idea of being able to do your own thing, and then also coming together and making a band record," said bassist Chris Baio, who is also preparing his first solo release.

However, the group have no definite release date for the record, with Chris adding, "It'll be done when it's done. That's where it is now."

Chris' solo tracks are much more influenced by dance music, and he says he started the project as soon as he got off the road with Vampire Weekend, which also includes Ezra Koenig, Rostam Batmanglij and Chris Tomson.

"I've loved dance music for a long time. When I got off the road, I knew I would have some time off. It affects me badly if I'm just sitting around, so I just started making music straight away," he added to NME magazine.

Freddie MercuryFreddie Mercury is to appear on stage as an "optical illusion."

The late Queen front man - who passed away in 1991 - will seem to perform for an audience at musical We Will Rock You, which is based on the band's music, to mark the tenth anniversary of the show in London.

Queen guitarist Brian May told BBC news the new "effect" was "an optical illusion of sorts." He added, "People will come out saying, 'did we actually see Freddie?'" However, Brian said the effect used will be different to the hologram technology which made late rapper Tupac Shakur appear on stage and perform at Coachella festival in California last month.

"It's a little unfortunate they did that thing with Tupac as we've been trying to make Freddie appear on the stage for quite a while The hologram technique is something we've looked at ourselves but I think probably for a show that runs eight shows a week it's not really practical."

The special edition show of We Will Rock You will take place on May 14 at London's Dominion Theatre. Queen have previously made live appearances where Freddie appears to sing the band's hit "Bohemian Rhapsody" using a backing track and video footage of him singing the song.

Joe Perry and Steven Tyler of AerosmithAerosmith will release their new single in "three or four weeks."

The veteran "Walk This Way" rockers are putting the finishing touches to the follow up to 2004's Honkin' On Bobo and excited the record - which they say will sound "modern and hi-fi" - is almost complete.

"It's really close. We've started to mix. We've mixed a couple of the songs already, but I guess this week we're really kind of rolling into mix mode. We have a couple of tracks left to finish up, just to put some overdubs on, but we're kind of going from the final, final recording tracks to mixing this week. The record's gonna sound modern and hi-fi. We're not sitting around going, 'We're gonna do Night in the Ruts again or Rocks again.' We want to make a modern sounding record, but the main thing is the energy that the early records had," guitarist Joe Perry told Rolling Stone magazine.

The new track "Legendary Child," which is likely to feature on the record, will also appear on the soundtrack to new film G.I. Joe: Retaliation. Singer Steven Tyler said the recording of the song was great, especially Joe's contribution on guitar: "It's gonna be slammin'. Joe was on fire. Wait, you'll see."

Zooey DeschanelZooey Deschanel is to play Loretta Lynn on Broadway.

The 32-year-old singer-and-actress will portray the country music legend in an adaptation of 1980 film Coal Miner's Daughter after Loretta announced the casting at a live show at Nashville's Ryman Auditorium on Thursday, and she brought the New Girl star out to perform with her.

"It's a long way from Butcher Holler to Broadway in New York City. I never imagined I'd see Coal Miner's Daughter on a movie screen, and now I can't believe it's going to be on a stage for people to see. I'm going to be right there in the front row. And I know Zooey is going to be great - she sings and writes her own songs just like I do, and we even have the same color eyes!" the 77-year-old star said in a statement.

Zooey admitted it is a "dream come true" to have landed the part - played by Sissy Spacek in the movie, a biopic which documented Loretta's rise from poverty to fame - as she regards Loretta as a "true legend." The brunette beauty explained, "She is a true legend and to be chosen to play such an iconic woman is a dream come true."
