Items Du Jour: Lady Gaga to Star in Film, Rachel Zoe Dies, Wang Hires Kravitz

Kate Moss on the cover of i-D—Despite the behind-the-scenes drama supermodels Kate Moss and Naomi Campbell made about sharing an i-D cover with Lady Gaga, the magazine ended up with all three divas on separate covers.

—Lady Gaga is reportedly set to star in her own autobiographical film, directed by Bryan Singer. Don’t act like you didn’t see that one coming.

—Steven Meisel looked to the Gulf oil spill for inspiration: his Italian Vogue editorial stars Kristen McMenamy, styled by Karl Templer. The fashion industry doesn’t always have to be vacuous…

—Once again, it pays to be a celebrity’s kid: Zoe Kravitz nabbed a gig modeling for Alexander Wang’s T line. Co-starring Max Motta, the ads are expected to hit New York streets as early as this Thursday.

Harper’s Bazaar makes Rachel Zoe as a fashion victim—literally. The celebrity stylist and reality star strikes several different poses in scenes where designers Marc Jacobs, Vera Wang, and Michael Kors appear to murder her!

Vanity Fair Fails to Credit Lady Gaga’s Stylist

Posted by Robin Paulson Categories: Celebrities, Editorials, News,

Lady Gaga on Vanity FairWhile fans and readers are ga ga over Lady Gaga‘s new Vanity Fair cover, one of her own was excluded from the magazine’s credits.

“thanks vanity fair for NOT crediting me in the story….VANITY UN-FAIR .....agrhhh!!!! (sic)” wrote stylist Nicola Formichetti on his page.

Will Gaga stick up for her monster? Let’s hope that Vanity Fair issues an apologetic statement—while Gaga receives an overwhelming amount of praise on her own, it’s nice to give credit when credit is due.

In the meantime, we can watch a behind-the-scenes shoot of the September cover, shot by Nick Knight (after the jump).

L’Wren Scott Proud of Statuesque Height

L'Wren Scott and Mick JaggerL’Wren Scott is grateful for her height.

The model-turned-fashion designer, who is dating Rolling Stones legend Sir Mick Jagger, says being 6ft 3in tall has taught her to be comfortable with her looks and not worry about what anyone is saying about her.

“I think that I have always had composure. I don’t think that you can be 6ft 3in and care if people talk about you. So I think, just from sheer stature, I developed a kind of shield early on.”

As well as modeling and fashion designing, L’Wren used to be a stylist to the stars and says it was a privilege to play a big part in someone’s fashion choices: “I always felt honored to be asked, that somebody trusted you to help them with their personal style.”

However, she knew that while she was doing it, she never gave up on her dream to become a designer, something she has now achieved: “It wasn’t really the fashion focus I wanted. So I kept shifting my focus closer and closer to my objective of being a designer.”

Items Du Jour: Gareth Pugh the DJ, Burton Unveils Resort Line, Bald Supermodels

Description—Fashion designer Gareth Pugh will appear at the Istanbul fashion-forward festival, Istancool, as a DJ: “I haven’t done it in ages so I’m definitely a bit rusty - I’m certainly not skilled at mixing- it’s all about the selection.”

—After giving birth to her son, model Jourdan Dunn has dodged work and the spotlight for some time now. In addition to being snapped up behind-the-scenes of an i-D shoot, rumor has it that the 20 year-old is to appear in this upcoming September issue of Vogue.

—Where’s Tyra’s hair advice when you need her? Supermodel Naomi Campbell was working a Mobil gas station when a hair stylist adjusted her hair, only to reveal a bald spot on the side of her head—and it doesn’t look like she was making a statement.

—Sarah Burton, new creative director of Alexander McQueen, unveiled her resort Spring/Summer 2011 collection, and thankfully, she has stayed true to the label’s nature.

Style Advisor Agyness Deyn

Agyness Deyn and Fiona ByrneMoving from the catwalk to behind-the-scenes, is become a style advisor.

The supermodel has teamed up with journalist Fiona Byrne to create website naag.com, which will give fashion tips and their take on the latest trends.

“We’re not shoving anything down your throat. We’re just saying ‘This is rad.’ We’re not saying ‘You have to like this,’” Deyn said.

The website has already had some big coups, with profiles of Mark Ronson and , who are both friendly with the 25-year-old beauty. “I think because we’re friends, they trust us and like what we’re doing,” Deyn said of their involvement.
However, their dream interview would be with designer Alexander Wang: “He’s one of the most real people in fashion. Totally unpretentious and fun.” Although she will be giving out advice, last year Agyness revealed she isn’t a huge fashion fan and won’t pursue a catwalk career forever.

“You know, even though I’m in fashion, I don’t, like, do fashion. Fashion isn’t me, even though I work in it. It’s just materialistic stuff. I just want to do whatever makes me happy.”

Items Du Jour: Adriana Lima Teaches Baby to Pose, More Mugler Rumors

Adriana Lima with husband and baby—Designer and Britain’s Next Top Model judge Julien MacDonald recently said that having a plus-size model win “makes it a joke.” Perhaps fellow British designer Mark Fast should give him some counsel, considering he was widely praised for using plus-size models in his Spring/Sumer 2010 show last year.

—Supermodel Adriana Lima poses for Brazil’s HOLA! magazine with her husband Marko Jaric and their new baby Valentina. Looks like she’s training her to model already!

Eclipse actress Ashley Greene gives into her cravings and claims that she doesn’t diet. As if we needed another reason to be jealous of her…

Sex and the City Stylist Avoids Trends

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: News,

Patricia FieldPatricia Field doesn’t pay attention to trends.

The stylist - who has worked on all six seasons and two films of the romantic comedy franchise - says she wants to create a classic look for the films so they never go out of style.

“I’m not mindful of trends. I kind of run away from that because what’s going to be there next season is not going to be there the season after. And movies last a long time. If you look at Breakfast at Tiffany’s today, it looks absolutely gorgeous. You don’t say it looks out of style.”

The New York-based fashionista also claims she “hooks” the looks of the main characters - Carrie Bradshaw, Samantha Jones, Charlotte York and Miranda Hobbes - around one particular story arch, and in used the Middle East for inspiration:

“If you find your hook in the script you go with it. The main thing is they get invited to the Middle East by a sheik for a 10-star vacation. So this was my motivation. The anticipation of a trip that they never even could imagine.”

Must-Have Miniskirts

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Celebrities, News, Women, Bottoms, Skirts,

Rachel ZoeListen up, ladies! says miniskirts are the must-have fashion item of the moment.

The celebrity stylist is a huge fan of shorter hemlines as she thinks they help flatter figures, but also has some advice for women who would prefer to cover up in jeans: “Mini is the length that’s happening right now. Shorter skirts elongate legs. But if you want most of your legs covered, add turn-ups to a boyfriend jean to expose a bit of the ankle. With a skinny jean, scrunch them up your calves.

Blazers are still big news this season, and Rachel recommends giving them a personal touch, saying, “The sleeves are the boxiest bit, so bunch them up to taper them. Pin a brooch in the back to tighten it up and give it a little bit of flavor.”

As for hair, Rachel - who has worked with a host of celebrities including Cameron Diaz and - advises not going too styled as a messy look gives a great contrast. She told Britain’s Glamour magazine, “Don’t dress like you’re in a beauty pageant - if you’re in a super glamorous gown, mess up your hair a little bit.”
