Ellen Page Overwhelmed by Support

Ellen Page admits the support she has received since coming out has "blown her mind."

The X-Men: Days of Future Past actress revealed she is gay at the Human Rights Campaign's Time to Thrive conference in February and admits she expected to be subjected to some "vicious" comments afterwards.

"I've experienced basically nothing but support, it's actually really kind of blown my mind. I thought there would be a lot more viciousness," she said.

The 27-year-old star admitted she was "afraid" to make the revelation because of the expected backlash, and she thinks it is "beautiful" so many people have had kind things to say: "Maybe that's because you're afraid and for some reason you have this perspective, because of probably your own anxiety. So to me, that's been the most beautiful thing, because it's so indicative of the change that's happened and the growth that's happening. For me, it's been basically nothing but support."

Ellen DeGeneres has been named the most powerful gay celebrity in the US.

The 56-year-old talk show host, who is married to Arrested Development actress Portia de Rossi, secured the top spot on Out magazine's 2014 Power List, an annual ranking of the most influential LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender) voices in American culture.

Announcing the news on its website, the publication stated, "Everybody loves Ellen, and that's one of the reasons she's regained the top spot. In March, The Ellen DeGeneres Show shattered its own 10-year ratings record in the episode that immediately followed her Academy Awards hosting gig, which also gave the awards its best ratings since 2004. And her star-studded Oscars selfie almost shut down Twitter when the pic became the most retweeted ever."

Other notable names on this year's list include fashion designers Tom Ford and Marc Jacobs, Good Morning America host Robin Roberts, How I Met Your Mother star Neil Patrick Harris, CNN anchor Anderson Cooper and Glee actress Jane Lynch.

Ian McKellen has praised Ellen Page for coming out.

The veteran actor - who publicly revealed he was gay in 1988 - is glad the star has been open with the world about her sexuality and thinks it will serve as encouragement for other people to see "it does get better." He told Buzzfeed, "All this has come to a happy conclusion, hasn't it? With Ellen Page ... coming out. That gladdened my heart so much. For people who are lonely... reading that about someone whose career they follow is a little bit of a help and encouragement to them to think it does get better."

Lady Gaga: I’m Not a Gay Icon

Lady Gaga insists she isn't a gay icon.

The "Applause" hitmaker - who is openly bisexual - is adamant she never intended to become a poster figure for the homosexual community because she doesn't "consider" herself to be gay.

"But... but... but... but here, where do I say I'm a gay icon? I never said I was a gay icon. When did that happen? Are those lyrics on the album? Absolutely not. I don't even consider myself... I don't even know what that word means. That was a label that was invented years ago. I'm a... I'm a gay supporter," the incredulous star told Attitude magazine.

This comes as a surprise since the 27-year-old singer - who set up the Born This Way Foundation to help bullied teens - has long been an advocate for gay rights, memorably blasting the Russian government over its LGBT rights record and calling on the US military to ditch their policy of "Don't ask, Don't tell" in regards to gay people.

VIDEO: Jane Lynch Says DeGeneres Blazed Trail for Gay Actors

Although Jane Lynch has proudly discussed her recent wedding to Dr. Lara Embry, there was a time when she wasn’t so open about her sexuality. Thankfully, fellow actors like Ellen DeGeneres made it easier for her to do so.

“I was more closeted in my life when I was younger,” the Emmy winner revealed. “By the time I started to do work and people knew who I was, I just never made the choice to hide that I was gay.”

“By the time you get to be our age, Ellen, there are no big deals anymore,” she added.

Of course, a little inspiration always helps. “You were at the height of your fame and you came out,” Lynch told DeGeneres. “And that just blazed a trail for me. It really did. It made it so much easier for me what you did.”

Sara Gilbert: Out of the Closet

During the summer press tour of the Television Critics Association (TCA), Sara Gilbert - best-known for her role as wisecracking Darlene on Roseanne - announced that she is, in fact, homosexual.

Gilbert has recently signed on to co-host and executive produce a new talk show called The Talk. Julie Chen, Leah Remini, Holly Robinson Peete, Sharon Osbourne and Marissa Jaret Winokur are also on the show – which seems to have an MSNBC meets The View vibe.

Sara explained her decision to spill the beans at TCA: “So obviously I’m going to be discussing my life more, and I felt that the first place I wanted to do it wasn’t in a CBS press release It just seemed impersonal, and I felt like I’d rather come in person and talk to you about all that stuff here.”

Courtney Love Says She Dated Kate Moss

Whether or not we’d believe it, Courtney Love claims she had sex with Kate Moss.

The Hole singer says she and the supermodel had a fling in Milan, Italy, in the 90s but is adamant Kate won’t care about her lesbian revelations.

“It was Kate Moss. She doesn’t care. It’s a great story for the grandchildren, so yeah. Kate wasn’t doing a lot of drugs it was just a thing that happened in Milan in the 90s. It happened and it was fun and whatever. And she talks about it and so I hope she doesn’t get mad that I outed her about it. I feel like such a kiss and tell. Kate’s great, though! Kate’s a good friend of mine. I almost bought her house in St John’s Wood, London.”

Both Kate and Courtney have had tempestuous love lives. Kate, 36, is currently dating The Kills guitarist Jamie Hince, and has previously romanced Johnny Depp and troubled singer Pete Doherty. Courtney is best known for her marriage to Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain, who killed himself in April 1994.

She is currently in a relationship with hotelier Andre Balazs and is said to have “hit the roof” last week when he began chatting to a business partner on a night out. A source said, “Andre was stopped by a woman he knew. As soon as he started talking to her, Courtney hit the roof. It was obvious to everyone that the woman was a business associate, but not to Courtney. She acted like a toddler!”

While she may be having legal woes, she’ll at least have a shoulder to cry on: Lindsay Lohan has a new girlfriend!

The 23-year-old actress - who previously dated DJ Samantha Ronson - has grown close to photographer 36-year-old Indrani since they met on a photo shoot last autumn.

Indrani - also known as Julia I. Pal-Chaudhuri - told the New York Post, “We have been spending a lot of time together. I have never had a relationship with a woman before, but Lindsay is just somebody who I find fascinating, gorgeous and extremely smart, as well as super-hot. Lindsay gets a lot of bad press, but she’s a really strong, creative woman and is trying really hard to get her life in a good, positive place.”

The couple have been on a series of dates in Los Angeles and recently spent the night together at the actress’ hotel. Indrani’s photography partner, Markus Klinko, thinks the pair are good for each other:

“Lindsay and Indrani have been seeing each other since we shot her last fall. I’ve seen them on dates, I have seen them making out. Indrani is a good influence on Lindsay. She is the opposite of a party girl - a Princeton graduate, she’s into art and is a philanthropist - not what you’d expect the typical girl for Lindsay to go out with. When they are together, they talk about art and the deeper meaning in life.”

Interested in knowing more about Michelle Rodriguez‘s personal life? Well, you might just have to wait for the tape.

The Avatar actress, who has previously denied rumors of being a bisexual or a lesbian, says if she had anything to prove, she would simply do it on camera.

“If I wanted to tell people what I do with my vagina, I’d have made a sex video a long time ago,” Michelle recently claimed. “Largely, people don’t know the whole story about anything. But still they need to put a name on it so they can label it and put it on the side and not dedicate any time to figuring it out. It’s laziness.”

Rodriguez - who was once romantically linked to her Bloodrayne costar Kristanna Loken in 2006 - also revealed she aspires to be like Angelina Jolie. The 31-year-old actress admires the openly bisexual Oscar winner for the action-packed roles she takes on and the energy she exudes.

“I like women like Angelina Jolie because of her ability to harness masculine and feminine energy into one. There are certain people who are so sexual that it doesn’t matter how old they get, they’re still sexual. Angie, at 50, will still be sexual,” Rodriguez explained.

After years of playing wife and mother Elyse Keaton on Family Ties, Meredith Baxter (formerly Meredith Baxter-Birney) made a big reveal on the Today show this morning: she’s a lesbian.

The news comes following reports by the National Enquirer that the actress was recently spotted on a cruise sponsored by a lesbian travel company. Pictures of the 62-year-old and her partner of four years, Nancy Locke, were also posted on Perez Hilton yesterday.

Meredith, who has been divorced three times, said her self-discovery didn’t come until fairly recently. “I am a lesbian and it was a later-in-life recognition of that fact,” she claimed. “Some people were saying ‘Were you living a lie?’ And, you know, the truth is — not at all. This has only been like the past seven years.”
