John Travolta Accuser Drops Claim

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Movies, Legal Issues, Rumors,

John TravoltaA man who filed sexual battery charges against John Travolta has filed papers to dismiss the case.

The masseur - who has been named only as John Doe #1 - had originally accused the actor of assaulting him on January 16 at the Beverly Hills hotel but made an application in California this morning to have the lawsuit dismissed.

A second masseur - known as John Doe #2 - is still pursuing his claim, which alleges the Pulp Fiction star sexually assaulted him in an Atlanta hotel. The second man's lawyer, Okorie Okorocha - who had dropped the first masseur as a client when he claimed he had the date of the alleged assault wrong after Travolta was able to prove he was elsewhere - insists he intends to pursue the allegation as far as possible.

"Believe me, he's not going anywhere. He was really traumatized by this. He went to the doctor for anxiety. This is somebody in the south, not Beverly Hills. When a brother is going to the doctor for anxiety, it has to be pretty bad," the lawyer told The New York Daily News.

John Travolta Accuser Wants Private Trial

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Movies, Legal Issues, Rumors,

John TravoltaA masseur who accused John Travolta of sexual assault is willing to drop his federal proceedings against the star.

The unnamed man - who is known as John Doe #2 - is willing to have the matter settled in a private trial, though no deal has yet been agreed with the actor's legal representative Marty Singer. "I can dismiss the federal filing and we can set up our own private trial. I'm willing to do that, and I've proposed that to Marty Singer. [Singer] hasn't agreed, but he hasn't said no. We are speaking, but we haven't hammered something out. He wants to fight this thing all the way through. They've made it clear. I'm ready to fight. I might leave in a bodybag, but never in cuffs. It would be a great case to see on Court TV, to see the royal rumble," the masseur's lawyer Okorie Okorocha told the New York Daily News newspaper.

The lawyer believes a private trial would be much faster than public proceedings and maintain the privacy of his client - the second man to have stepped forward to have made accusations against the Pulp Fiction star - whom he describes as a "reserved" family man.

Video Game Company Sues Beyonce

BeyonceBeyonce has been sued for $100 million by a video game developer.

Gate Five claims that the "Listen" star went back on her word for a $20 million deal for the proposed game named Starpower: Beyonce. Legal representatives for the 30-year-old singer insisted that she had the choice to back out of the agreement after she discovered that the company had not come up with the necessary budget for what was needed to create the product named after her.

Gate Five, however, has replied that she unfairly pulled out only three days before she was supposed to officially sign a contract with them back in December 2010. They maintain that her actions resulted in them losing millions of dollars and having to fire 70 employees.

The New York Post reports that Justice Charles Ramos has allowed the lawsuit to go to trial, as Beyonce should have given the company notice before quitting the deal. Beyonce has declined any comment on the matter.

Lindsay Lohan Settles Battery Lawsuit

Lindsay LohanLindsay Lohan has settled a dispute with a Betty Ford worker according to reports.

The actress - who was accused of being violent with a member of staff at the rehabilitation clinic in 2010 - is said to have paid off the worker. At the time, Lohan said she was provoked by the alleged victim, Dawn Holland, and may have injured her in self-defense. The woman sued the 25-year-old star following the occurrence where she was apparently opposed to taking a breathalyzer test.

According to the prosecutor, the defendant appeared intoxicated at the time and Holland says she grabbed her right wrist, "twisting and pulling it for eight to 10 seconds." According to TMZ, the case was closed for an undisclosed amount.

Last week it emerged that Lohan has escaped any criminal charges for her alleged hit-and-run in March.

Nicollette Sheridan Granted ‘Desperate Housewives’ Retrial

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Television, Legal Issues, Rivalries,

Nicollette SheridanNicollette Sheridan has been granted a retrial in her case against Desperate Housewives.

The actress claims she was wrongfully dismissed from the show following arguments with its creator, Marc Cherry, but the first trial ended in a hung jury. The program's makers, ABC Entertainment and Disney, asked the judge to dismiss the case based on evidence that surfaced during trial earlier this year, but a judge has ruled in favor of a retrial.

The new trial is set for September 10, but Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Elizabeth Allen White urged them to end the case privately on Wednesday morning. "I very, very strongly urge you to continue settlement discussions," she said.

Nicollette is seeking $5.7 million in damages and $35,000 in sanctions from ABC Entertainment for her treatment on the series, which saw her character, Edie Britt, killed off in season five by being electrocuted. The jury were deadlocked at eight to four in Nicollette's favour during the first trial, which would appear to put her in a strong position to triumph if the case is retried.

Lindsay Lohan’s Probation Won’t Be Affected by Accident Claim

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Movies, Legal Issues,

Lindsay LohanLindsay Lohan's probation will not be affected by a hit-and-run allegation.

The troubled actress is due to make her final court appearance on Thursday, and though she has been accused of hitting club manager Thaer Kamal with her Porsche and leaving the scene, the claim will not count against her.

According to gossip website TMZ, a report submitted by the probation service mentions the incident and the fact that it is under investigation by police, but discounts the claim and gives it no weight as charges have not been filed against Lindsay, nor has she been arrested. "The probationer [Lindsay] is in compliance with the terms and conditions of probation," the report says.

The document also notes that the actress will complete court-ordered counseling sessions today and her final stint of community service tomorrow. Judge Stephanie Sautner has said that she will terminate the probation - which stems from a 2007 driving under the influence conviction - if Lindsay is still in compliance.
