Benedict Cumberbatch “Punched” Journalist for Keira Knightley

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Movies, Features,

Benedict Cumberbatch once "joke-punched" a journalist for bad-mouthing Keira Knightley.

The Atonement star defended his stunning co-star by lashing out after a member of the press reportedly said something rude about her at an event.

"When I saw him [Benedict] again, I said, 'Did you punch a journalist?' and he was like, 'I f***ing did.' Everybody needs a friend like that," Keira recalled.

Despite her budding friendship with Benedict, 37, one thing the pals won't be doing together is karaoke as the 29-year-old actress hates singing in front of people. "I hate karaoke. Like, I really, really hate it. I have to be so drunk I'm nearly about to fall down before I sing in front of anybody. It just terrifies me. But, also, among the people you go with, there will be somebody who secretly has an amazing voice, and you're just like, 'F*ck off,'" she explained.

Robert Pattinson Defends Kristen Stewart Rape Comment

Posted by Robin Paulson Categories: Movies, Rants,

Kristen Stewart and Robert PattinsonAlthough she’s since offered an apology for comparing paparazzi to rapists, Kristen Stewart is still prodded for her choice in words. In a recent interview, however, she had her dashing vampire

co-star Robert Pattinson come to her defense. And boy did he have a lot he wanted to get off his chest:

“None of those associations came out and gave a statement [criticizing Kristen] without being called upon by the media first — who were doing it specifically to get hits on their websites. That whole system of Internet journalists, where no one is called to account, is almost entirely about hate. All these people get away with doing it because they have no responsibility to anyone. All they need is to get a salacious headline and people click on it, because it’s easy. And it’s quite good being part of these Twilight films because you have to give so many interviews all the time, you can defend yourself. That’s the only way. All of us stick together, as well. There are so many little nerds behind their computers, on their little blogs.”

After his tirade, Stewart pointed out how Pattinson could easily say anything and get away with it: “You’re really good, but you could say, ‘I just took a s***on the Queen’s face,’ and people would be like, ‘Oh, I love him! I love him!’”

The complete interview in EW hits newsstands this Friday.

Heath Ledger’s “Dirty Laundry”

Posted by Elaine Furst Categories: Movies, Editorials,

Heath LedgerThe death of Heath Ledger last week seemed to bring out the worst in our fellow “journalists”.

After watching the TV coverage of ‘s passing, I couldn’t help but be reminded of Don Henley’s song, “Dirty Laundry”. For those of you who aren’t familiar with it, “Dirty Laundry” is Henley’s commentary on the decline of journalism and how the people who cover the news are really just failed actors and news coverage is all about finding the “dirtiest” story about someone and running with it whether it’s true or not. (Henley wrote the song fifteen years ago.)  The lyrics that particularly came to mind in light of Ledger’s passing are:

“Dirty little secrets, dirty little lies
We got our dirty little fingers in everybody’s pie
Love to cut you down to size, we love dirty laundry”

The three “journalists” that appeared to be most guilty of this were:

. On her show, Grace called on a number of “professionals” (i.e mental health “experts”) who prattled on about Ledger’s “alleged” state of mind at the time of his death and what the meaning of all those pills scattered around his body “probably” meant. I didn’t really pay too close attention to what they were saying until the term “bipolar disorder” came up.  I then did what hopefully any sane, sensitive person would do. I changed the channel and put on . (If I want to watch schlock, I’ll buy it from QVC.)
