What is an unemployed actress to do while she awaits her trial for a stolen $2,500 necklace? Concern herself with more important matters like dropping her last name, of course!
Lindsay Lohan keeps the tabloid spotlight on herself with the announcement -- via her mother, Dina -- that she will be dropping her last name. Madonna, Beyonce, and Prince do it, sure, but isn't it only acceptable if you're a musical artist (or... Fabio)?
"Lindsay is dropping the Lohan and just going by Lindsay... Plus, me and [younger daughter] Ali will be officially changing our last names back to my maiden name, Sullivan," Dina explained.
A source close to the family sheds some light on the rationale behind the name game.
"It's a way for them all to start over. No one in the family want anything to do with Lindsay's father [Michael Lohan] anymore and that includes sharing a last name."

Lindsay Lohan vs. Michael Lohan: The Rehab Diary Battle

Lindsay Lohan recently sent a letter to her father, Michael Lohan - using all the proper legal channels, of course.
Linds had a cease-and-desist letter penned and sent to dear old dad, threatening to sue him for damages if he attempts to sell or otherwise publicize excerpts from the diary she wrote in 2007, during one of her stints in rehab.
Michael and Lindsay often communicate indirectly through the press, a route taken by another famously feuding parent-child pair, Candy and Tori Spelling.
Courtney Love and Frances Bean Kobain go at each other via social media.
And everyone who isn’t worth millions? They just use the telephone to talk to their parents.

Courtney Love fears her daughter will die of a drugs overdose.
The Hole singer, who has 17-year-old Frances Bean with late husband Kurt Cobain, admits she is concerned by the amount of money the teenager receives under the terms of the Nirvana frontman’s will, particularly as she no longer lives with her mother.
“She is going to be 18 on 15 August. Thank God, because then this whole palaver will be done. She lives in a mansion by herself. A 17 year old getting $40,000 a month is outrageous to me, that’s on top of them paying for the mansion. She lives with her nanny, and Grandma Wendy and Kim - Kurt’s mother and sister - live two doors down, but there’s no drug testing going on. It’s a lot of money for a normal person. It’s enough money to kill her, if she is doing drugs, enough money to be gone by the time she’s 22,” Courtney - who was banned from contacting Frances last year by a court - said.
Despite her concerns, Courtney also thinks Frances is too sensible to go off the rails and says the teenager has turned down many opportunities to become famous in her own right:

Although Courtney Love initially appeared to be tight-lipped when the news broke that she lost custody of her daughter, Frances Bean Cobain, the troubled musician has now broken her silence.
No stranger to blasting ludicrous remarks on Facebook, Love used the social networking site to spew hateful thoughts about her 17 year-old daughter, whose father was the late Kurt Cobain.
“I hate to sound cold but any kid of mine who pulls this s**t has lost her position… she was deceptive, she lied and she’s lying to herself… My daughter is not always honest. The fact is fbc [Frances Bean Cobain] is deluded. She thinks she has all this money. The point is I have all the money she has. Frances is clearly deluded that she can buy her grandmother a small house in la [Los Angeles]. I’d love to see how that works. They’ll incubate her [sic] til shes 18 and then have her sign all the [sic] indnemofications.”
This is not the first time Love has lost custody of Frances Bean; Love’s lawyers assure that she did not have a drug relapse and the matter was simply Frances Bean’s decision to live with her grandparents over her mother.
In the end, however, Love ends her internet tirade with words that somewhat resemble that of a woman showing motherly care (despite what she had said previously).

Candy and Tori Spelling Burying the Hatchet

It seems that Candy and Tori Spelling are ready to put their highly-publicized family feud behind them, and just in time for the holiday season.
According to reports, the healing began last September. Candy has spent time with both her grandchildren, and the mother-daughter pair seem ready to move forward with a new relationship.

Candy Spelling Fires Another Shot in Family Feud

Just when you thought the media gossip was drying down, Spelling matriarch Candy has fired another bullet in her media back-and-forth with daughter Tori. All of this, mind you, is part of Candy Spelling’s book promotion - or, so I suspect.
Spelling conducted a radio interview, purportedly to tout her Stories From Candyland, and ended up dragging Tori Spelling through the proverbial mud. “My daughter one day decided that she wasn’t speaking to my husband, myself and my son, and that’s how it’s continued for the last, oh gosh, four or five years.”
Sure, that’s not the nicest thing to say…but Candy wasn’t done by a long shot. “That’s what killed my husband, actually,” she continued, referring to TV mogul Aaron Spelling. “He just didn’t want to live after that.” Spelling passed away in June of 2006, leaving the bulk of his fortune to Candy.
