Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Engagements, Weddings, Clothing, Style, Rumors,
We’ve finally got details on Kate Middleton’s wedding dress, and the gown sounds like it’s fit for a princess. According to The Daily Mail, an untried and unknown designer has been used to create the frock: Kate Middleton.
Reports say that the princess-to-be designed the gown herself, using inspiration from Renaissance fashions. According to rumor, the gown is made with satin and lace in ivory with peal detail and a 10-foot train.
Sophie Cranston, creator of the Libelula clothing line, is making the dress. Cranston is relatively unknown, though she won 1999’s Designer of the Year award at London’s Graduate Fashion Week.

Royal Wedding: Wedding Dress Hoax, or Leak?
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Engagements, Weddings, Clothing, Fashion Police, Style, Rumors,
The media exploded today when it was announced that future Princess Kate Middleton has picked a designer for her wedding gown, possibly the most important dress of this century. A British newspaper announced that Middleton chose the Alexander McQueen fashion house, specifically creative director Sarah Burton, to design the gown.
But, the fashion house says it isn’t true. Burton and the CEO of the company have denied the story. And yet, that doesn’t necessarily mean it is.
It’s believed that any designer commissioned for the royal dress will be bound to utmost secrecy, so the vehement denials could be part of a cover-up. Details of the royal wedding have been ravenously reported, but there are some points Prince William and fiance Kate clearly would rather keep to themselves.

Designer Alexander McQueen Found Dead
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Clothing, Red Carpet, Style, Obituaries,

UPDATE: McQueen had cocaine, tranquilizers and sleeping pills in his system when he died.
Fashion guru Alexander McQueen was found dead on Thursday morning in his London residence. In a statement issued by the designer’s office, reps said “At this stage it is inappropriate to comment on this tragic news beyond saying that we are devastated and are sharing a sense of shock and grief with [the designer’s] family.”
Scotland Yard has officially stated it is not treating the event as a suspicious death, though reports are circulating that the designer committed suicide. According to the statement, McQueen’s family “has asked for privacy in order to come to terns with this terrible news, and we hope the media will respect this.” Today, the fashion world is very dark indeed.

At last night’s Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute Gala, female celebrities of every caliber had the chance to put on their finest. (Their escorts did their best to look acceptable in their suits.)
Unfortunately, most of the dresses I saw this year were either outright boring or simply ugly. You can view more of the lowlights - and some of the highlights - after the jump.
