Survivor Producer Questioned in Death of Wife

UPDATE: Bruce has been released from detention but must stay in Mexico while the investigation continues.
An Emmy-nominated reality show producer is currently being called a person of interest in the death of his wife.
Bruce Beresford-Redman was detained by authorities in Mexico on Thursday after his wife was discovered dead in a sewer. Monica Beresford-Redman had been reported missing by her husband on Tuesday after she supposedly failed to return from a shopping trip.
Monica’s body was found on the grounds of Cancun’s Moon Palace resort, where the two had been staying. A security guard from that hotel reported seeing Bruce attempt to strike his wife as the result of a fight. Others staying in the same hotel also claim they heard the couple arguing in their room.

Corey Feldman to Host Public Memorial for Corey Haim

UPDATE: According to the coroner, Corey Haim died as result of natural causes.
“Due to their strong religious beliefs, and need for privacy, the family has decided to make Corey’s [Haim] funeral on Tuesday a small, private affair,” Corey Feldman offered this statement to the media today. “I will remain in Los Angeles quietly mourning,” he said of his own plans. “As a sign of respect, I am asking the media to honor Corey Haim by making the same choice.”
The public will get their chance to bid the star goodbye, Hollywood-style. Feldman plans to prepare a second memorial service for his friend. “At that time, the media will be invited to honor and celebrate the legacy [Corey Haim] has left behind, along with friends, fans, and the rest of the Hollywood community.”

Perhaps best known as Corey Feldman’s frequent co-star, Corey Haim was once one of the most popular stars in the country. During his heyday of The Lost Boys, License to Drive and Lucas, Haim captivated hearts - and casting directors - with his trademark smirk and level gaze. It’s too bad that, at the same time, substance abuse captivated him.

Corey Feldman Reacts to Corey Haim’s Death

Hours after learning about Corey Haim’s death, actor Corey Feldman - his Lost Boys and Two Coreys co-star - issued this statement about his longtime friend:
“I was awakened at 8:30 this morning by my brother and sister knocking on my bedroom door. They informed me of the loss of my brother Corey Haim. My eyes weren’t even open all the way when the tears started streaming down my face. I am so sorry for Corey, his mother Judy, his family, my family, all of our fans, and of course my son who I will have to find a way to explain this to when he gets home from school. This is a tragic loss of a wonderful, beautiful, tormented soul, who will always be my brother, family, and best friend. We must all take this as a lesson in how we treat the people we share this world with while they are still here to make a difference. Please respect our families as we struggle and grieve through this difficult time. I hope the art Corey has left behind will be remembered as the passion of that for which he truly lived.

Marie Osmond’s 18-Year-Old Son Commits Suicide

UPDATE: Michael had no drugs in his system at the time of his death.
Entertainers Donny and Marie Osmond have put their Las Vegas show on hiatus in order to deal with a family tragedy.
Late Friday night in Los Angeles, Marie’s 18-year-old son, Michael Blosil, jumped to his death from his apartment building in Los Angeles. A note left behind reportedly cited depression as the reason for his suicide.
“Please pray for my sister and her family,” Donny said in a statement Saturday.
Brian, who entered rehab back in 2007 for an unspecified reason, was one of eight children Marie and ex-husband Brian Blosil raised together. The coroner’s office is planning to conduct both an autopsy and toxicology tests.

Designer Alexander McQueen Found Dead

UPDATE: McQueen had cocaine, tranquilizers and sleeping pills in his system when he died.
Fashion guru Alexander McQueen was found dead on Thursday morning in his London residence. In a statement issued by the designer’s office, reps said “At this stage it is inappropriate to comment on this tragic news beyond saying that we are devastated and are sharing a sense of shock and grief with [the designer’s] family.”
Scotland Yard has officially stated it is not treating the event as a suspicious death, though reports are circulating that the designer committed suicide. According to the statement, McQueen’s family “has asked for privacy in order to come to terns with this terrible news, and we hope the media will respect this.” Today, the fashion world is very dark indeed.

Brittany Murphy Death a Result of Pneumonia, Anemia, Drug Intoxication

UPDATE: Coroner’s office says Brittany’s death was not a result of alcohol or drug abuse.
The L.A. County Coroner’s Office says Brittany Murphy’s death was an accident.
According to results announced today, the actress died on December 20 as a result of pneumonia, with secondary factors of iron-deficiency anemia and multiple drug intoxication.
Although the specific drugs Brittany ingested have not yet been revealed, all medications in her system were considered prescription. TMZ reports that the 32-year-old had been taking medication for cramps and over-the-counter drugs including cough syrup.
A complete report is expected from the coroner in about two weeks.

Actress Brittany Murphy Dies at Age 32

UPDATE: A coroner’s official says Murphy may have died of natural causes.
Actress Brittany Murphy, best known for her work on 1995’s Clueless, was pronounced dead today in Los Angeles. She was only 32.
According to reports, Murphy was discovered unconscious by her mother in her shower. A call from the home of Simon Monjack, Brittany’s husband of 2 1/2 years, was made around 8:00 AM.
Paramedics attempted to revive the 8 Mile star who had apparently gone into cardiac arrest. Unfortunately, she was pronounced dead on arrival at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.
Although Brittany has not starred in any big screen hit in some time, she had been the subject of recent tabloid talk. In late November, Murphy was replaced on a film being shot in Puerto Rico. It was rumored that that Brittany and Simon’s questionable behavior - including possible drug use - was behind her dismissal. This recast lead to an SNL skit on December 5. David Beckham Mourning Loss of Grandfather

David Beckham has been left devastated over the death of his grandfather.
The soccer star - who has three sons with wife Victoria Beckham - was told 83-year-old Joe West had passed away shortly after he arrived in Cape Town, South Africa, to help England’s bid to host the 2018 World Cup.
David’s family - including his mother Sandra, Joe’s daughter - have urged him to stay in Cape Town for the time being to fulfil his commitments to the bid.
“David is absolutely devastated. He was so close to Joe, who was his mentor,” a friend said. “He’d only just got off the plane when he heard the news. His family are urging him to stick to his work commitments and leave at the end of the week, but there is no way that David wants to miss Joe’s funeral. If he has to fly home, then so be it.”
David was extremely close to his grandfather - who had been stricken with a serious illness in August - and often cited him as his sporting inspiration. David’s eldest child, Brooklyn, has the middle name Joseph in honor of Joe.
