Katie Holmes: Marriage Was Over For Six Months
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Movies, Divorce, Rumors,
Katie Holmes claims her marriage to Tom Cruise was "irretrievably" broken for at least six months.
The former Dawson's Creek actress filed for divorce from her husband of five years last week in New York and, according to official documents, she said their union had been over for some time. However, sources close to Tom says Katie's version of events are baffling, telling gossip website TMZ.com he had "no idea" she was going to legally end their marriage.
Katie - who wants sole custody of the couple's six-year-old daughter, Suri - also claimed both she and Tom have been residents of New York for "at least two years," even though their main family home is in Beverly Hills, California. The 33-year-old beauty must establish legal residency in New York in order for the court to have jurisdiction, which is something she wants because New York courts are more likely to grant her sole custody of Suri.

Halle Berry has been ordered to pay $20,000 a month in child support.
Lawyers for the New Year's Eve star and her former partner Gabriel Aubry went to court on Monday, where a family law judge ordered the actress to hand over the sum for the care of their four-year-old daughter Nahla, gossip website TMZ reports. Gabriel, 36, had gone to court last month to request the sum but the case was adjourned because paperwork wasn't filled out properly.
The former couple - who split in April 2010 - are yet to resolve another dispute over Nahla, as the model is unhappy with Halle's plan to move to France with the youngster and her fiance Olivier Martinez. The 45-year-old Dark Tide star has previously spoken about relocating to France, in favour of the country's laws which will protect her offspring from prying eyes. "Laws that protect children, protect right to privacy. All I want is for my family and myself to have a normal life. When I'm not at work, that's very important to me," she said.
A court has yet to rule on Halle's desire to move.

Usher's ex-wife Tameka Foster "begged him to withdraw the petition" for custody of their two children.
The mother of his two sons - Usher Raymond V, four, and Naviyd Ely Raymond, three - insisted that she did not initiate the current court battle that the pair are involved in.
"I did not start this. I did not file this. Usher did. I begged him to withdraw the petition, but he didn't listen. The media jumped on my answer to his petition for custody as if I initiated it, and I did not. Why would I try to keep his children away from him? We have joint custody and I want to continue to have their father around to help out. Raising children is a lot of work," she said.
She also hit back at rumors that the pair are enemies, explaining that they do not hate each other: "We're not [enemies]. But people still find a way to make it more salacious than it has to be. I don't know how he deals with it, but I refuse to let the media manipulate what should be a personal situation and turn me into the villain."

The "OMG" singer - who is currently embroiled in a bitter custody battle with his former spouse over their kids Usher, four, and Naviyd, three - took to the stand in an Atlanta court today where he testified against Tameka and alleged she "wanted to fight" when he turned up at her house with his new flame.
According to gossip website TMZ, Usher claims Tameka walked to his car and said, "I'm gonna kick your ass. Bitch get out of the car. How dare you bring this woman into my subdivision in my house? She continued to spit. At this point she pulled the door open, tried to swing at her."
Usher claims he had to get out of the car and block Tameka but she hit him. He then pleaded with Tameka to calm down, but claims "she threw a plate of food at the car." He then said he fled the situation.
At the beginning of this month, the couple were ordered to work out their differences and come to an agreement over custody of their children, a sticking point in their divorce proceedings. Usher, 33, and Tameka, 40, filed for divorce in June 2009 after almost two years of marriage.

Usher could leave his ex-wife homeless. Tameka Foster is locked in a complicated legal battle with the "OMG" singer, and is worried he could sell the Georgia mansion where she is living.
A clause in the couple's divorce settlement allows Usher to sell the property at any time as long as he gives her 60 days notice, and sources tell TMZ.com she fears he will soon do just that, leaving her with mounting legal bills and nowhere to live.
Tameka has reportedly asked that she get a permanent home for her and their children, Usher, four, and Naviyd, three, but he has reportedly refused as he believes he has already paid her enough. Gabriel Aubry Wants More Money from Halle

Gabriel Aubry wants to "substantially increase" the monthly payments he receives from Halle Berry.
The model is currently embroiled in a bitter battle with the actress over the custody of their four-year-old daughter Nahla and was in court today with his ex-girlfriend to ask for a raise in the amount of money she pays to him, according to RadarOnline. However, he did not get the chance to have his case heard as the judge granted a continuance.
Halle wants to move to France with Nahla and her fiance Olivier Martinez because of concerns about the paparazzi and the child's safety, but her ex is trying to stop her from re-locating because he believes he won't get to see his daughter. It was previously revealed Gabriel - who split from Halle in 2010 after five years together - was worried Oliver is planning to adopt Nahla.
"Gabriel fears that Halle's ultimate plan is to get him out of his daughter's life, permanently. He believes the plan is for Halle to move to France with Nahla and then have Olivier adopt her as his own. She wants a 'fresh start' apparently. Gabe will fight tooth and nail to retain custody of Nahla. He loves that little girl and is determined to always be a part of her life and always be her father. Just because Halle is through with him doesn't mean she can shut him out of her daughter's life too. Gabe may not have Halle's money or power but he will not just lie down and take it," a source said.
