AnnaLynne McCord claims her parents physically abused her as a child.
The Dallas star, who previously revealed she felt "suicidal" after being raped by a close friend when she 18, says her mother and father made her believe she didn't have a voice when she was younger, but she is now "done staying quiet."
The 26-year-old actress told Cosmopolitan magazine that she and her two sisters, Angel and Rachel, "grew up in an extremely religious and conservative" home, and were home-schooled by her pastor father and mother: "My parents believed in strict 'discipline,' as they called it - I would call it abuse. The punishments were painful and ritualistic. We would have to bend over the bed, sometimes with our pants down, arms outstretched, and get spanked--with a ruler in our younger years and later with a paddle that my parents bought when they thought the ruler wasn't strong enough."

Getting Bullied Prompted Leonardo DiCaprio’s Career
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Movies, Drugs, Features,
Leonardo DiCaprio claims getting beaten up when he was 15 changed his whole life.
The actor was brought up in a tough area of East Hollywood, Los Angeles, but won a scholarship to University Elementary School in a better part of town, which meant he was in for a shock when he later returned to standard schooling.
"When I went back to the public school system it was like - boom - this is reality. I got beat up the day I arrived because I had the attitude of everyone living harmoniously with one another. That was the motivational thing that happened to me in my life. I was 15, and I said to my mom, 'I want to be an actor. Please take me to auditions.' Because I had to get out of that public school system."
The Wolf of Wall Street star Leonardo, 39, also said his upbringing in an area where there was "a major prostitution ring on my street corner [and] crime and violence everywhere" meant he has never had the desire to take drugs.

Ryan Gosling Can’t Relate to Others

Ryan Gosling feels detached from the rest of the world.
The Gangster Squad actor shot to fame at the age of just 12 as part of the All-New Mickey Mouse Club and says that, coupled with being home-schooled and his current A-list status, means it is hard for him to understand other people's perceptions of life.
"Sometimes I find it hard to relate to other people's perceptions of the world and how they live. I grew up in a very unconventional way, where I've been working since I was eight and literally spent several years living in Disneyland. I don't see myself as belonging anywhere except to this small world you find on film sets and the one I create for myself with my friends," he said.
The 32-year-old hunk has always felt like an outsider and admits he never had ambitions to get a conventional job:

Julianne Hough Was Abused as a Child
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Television, Features,
Julianne Hough has revealed she was abused as a child.
The Rock of Ages star - who is in long-term relationship with American Idol presenter Ryan Seacrest - claims she was "abused mentally, physically, everything" after moving to London from her native Utah to study dance as a youngster.
"I was 10-years-old looking like I was 28, being a very sensual dancer. I was a tormented little kid who had to put on this sexy facade because that was my job and my life. But my heart was the same, and I was this innocent little girl. I wanted so much love. While I was in London, I was abused mentally, physically, everything," the 24 year-old told Cosmopolitan.
The former Dancing With The Stars performer admitted that things got much worse when she hit puberty: "When I started hitting puberty, when I started becoming a woman and stopped being a little girl. I was told if I ever went back to the United States, three things were going to happen. One: I was going to amount to nothing. Two: I was going to work at Whataburger. And three: I was going to end up a slut. So it was like, I can't go back, I have to be this person."

Selena Gomez: I’d Have Two Kids by Now if I Stayed in Texas
Posted by Robin Paulson Categories: Movies, Music, Television, Child Stars, Features,
Singer-actress Selena Gomez has offered up what she believes her life would be like if she hadn't become a huge star and opened up about growing up with Disney.
In this month's issue of Glamour, the Spring Breakers actress claimed that she would have probably become a teen mom had she remained in Texas: "I'm terrified of what I would have become if I'd stayed there. I'm sure I'd have two children by now."
But that's not to say that she was exempt from the semblance of a high school experience:
"I grew up in one of the biggest high schools in the world, and that’s the Disney Channel. Everybody was falling in love with each other or not liking each other, and it was exhausting…and I was the shy one in the corner. And now I’m so opinionated, and I don’t have time for the cattiness. I have good people around me, and I’m glad I’m at the place I’m in. I wish I was there back then."
The Glamour issue hits newsstands on Tuesday, November 6.

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Movies, Birthdays,
Jada Pinkett Smith thought she'd be dead by the age of 21.
The Madagascar 3 star - who raises Trey, 19, Jaden, 14, and 11-year-old Willow with husband Will Smith - admits turning 40 in September 2011 was "surreal" because she grew up in such a tough neighbourhood, she never expected to live so long.
"I grew up in a drug-infested neighborhood where you walk out each day and you just hope that you make it. I came from a war zone. There was a possibility that I wouldn't make it past 21 - that was the reality. When I turned 40 it was a surreal moment because I had never imagined reaching 40. I looked at my husband and said, 'Oh my God, I'm 40! What am I going to do now?' So yes, it does put things in perspective."
Jada - who was raised by her drug-addicted mother Adrienne and grandmother Marion - is thankful her own children don't have the upbringing she had and she has no idea how she would cope if she were in her mother's situation:

Anjelica Huston’s Dad Made Her Feel ‘Plain’
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Movies, Child Stars, Features,
Anjelica Huston's father made her feel unattractive.
The 61-year-old actress was devastated as a teenager when she heard her actor dad John Huston say he thought she would grow up to be "plain," and his remark made her feel very insecure about her appearance.
"I was not at my happiest in my late teens. I went from confident and secure to shy and insecure and back again. I wish I could have been more accepting of myself. I had once overheard my father saying, when I was about 15 or 16, that I might turn out to be plain. That was a particularly unattractive moment for me. My nose was growing and my chin was receding, by comparison, and no one knew more than me how plain I felt."
Anjelica - whose mother Enrica died when she was 18 - also admitted that working with her father on one of her first movies was such a bad experience, it put her off acting for many years:

Demi Lovato Always Had Body Issues

Demi Lovato says her body issues began when she was three. The X Factor judge - who has spent time in rehab getting treatment for her eating disorder and self harming - admits she felt she was overweight from a very young age, and the insecurities have stayed with her.
"I remember being three years old in a diaper and rubbing my hand over my stomach ... and I remember thinking in my head, 'I wonder if one day this will ever be flat?'" she said on Katie.
The 20-year-old beauty - who has recently been named as the new ambassador of an anti-bullying campaign - was targeted at school as the girls used to tease her for her appearance. "It played more of a toll on me than if I was physically abused in school. I've always said I wished that they had just hit me in the face and gotten it over with because what they said to me sticks to me to this day and it affected me, (turned) me into the person I am today. I was bullied and they called me fat and they called me horrible things," she added.
