Kristen Wiig Worried She Was Too Old for Hollywood

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Movies, Television, Features,

Kristen WiigKristen Wiig used to worry that she was too old for Hollywood.

The 40-year-old star - who shot to fame with her hit comedy Bridesmaids in 2011 - was concerned she was too old to make it in the industry after the excitement of moving to Hollywood wore off and she realized other most other aspiring actresses were far younger than her.

"When I first moved there, there was 'the dream,' as there is for a lot of people. Then I got really scared. I moved there and I was like, 'Oh, I don't have any experience,' and I was surrounded by people a lot younger than I am, a lot better looking than I am, who've been acting for a while, who've been taking classes, who already have agents and I just felt like, 'Oh, there's a lot of work I have to do.'"

The Secret Life of Walter Mitty actress first decided to pursue a career in acting during a class at an art college in Arizona, and although she struggled to find work after moving to Los Angeles she admits she came into her own after she joined an improv group, The Groundlings: "I was like, 'Oh my God, I love it,' which was weird because I was terrified of being on stage. But the idea of being someone else and not myself didn't scare me as much."

Scarlett JohanssonScarlett Johansson is fed up of being "an object of desire."

The 29-year-old star, who is pregnant with her first child with her French journalist fiance, Romain Dauriac, plans to embrace the aging process and claims she feels less pressure to look perfect as she gets older.

"I don't want to be the ingenue any more. That part I'm happy about. It's nice to be glamorous, but I don't want to always have to be trendy and glamorous and an object of desire. I don't want to be stuck in that forever. Because it doesn't last," she said.

But Scarlett also told The Weekend Australian magazine that she believes that Hollywood's leading men aren't subjected to as much criticism: "With [male actors] it just doesn't happen the same way. You can be every woman's fantasy and nobody thinks twice about the fact that you have eight kids or whatever."

Angelina Jolie Wants Her Children to Be Politicians

Angelina Jolie and her kidsAngelina Jolie wants her children to pursue careers in politics.

The 38-year-old actress is raising six children with her long-term partner Brad Pitt, 50, but she's admitted she hopes they decide to take another career path rather when they begin working rather than following them into acting: "I'm trying to interest them in politics. My sons and daughters might fill high-powered functions instead."

The Hollywood couple take their sons Maddox, 12, Pax, 10, and five-year-old Knox and daughters nine-year-old Zahara, seven-year-old Shiloh and five-year-old Vivienne with them while promoting their films around the world, but Angelina claims they also make them aware of the humanitarian work they do. "They know we make movies. But also that Daddy makes furniture and builds houses and that Mummy likes to travel with the United Nations," she told The Sun.

Zac Efron: Weight Was Lifted After Addiction Confession

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Movies, Drugs, Drunk, Features,

Zac EfronZac Efron feels a "weight" has been lifted after he spoke out about his battle with drugs and alcohol last month.

The 26-year-old hunk, who sought treatment for addiction twice last year, is glad he opened up about his personal struggles because it was a relief to lift the lid on his secret. "It was a weight off my chest. It was great. It was a fantastic time. It was a rough year," he told the Today show.

The actor is currently starring alongside Seth Rogen in the comedy Bad Neighbors and he's happy he's finally getting his career back on track following a difficult year: "It's kind of funny -- Bad Neighbors is such a great icing on the cake for all of this. I was able to kind of channel all of that and put it back into this movie. I feel great. I feel really blessed to be here working with this group of guys. I couldn't be better right now. I'm really excited."

Meanwhile, Zac admitted last month he felt humiliated when his "mistakes" were made public. "I was drinking a lot, way too much. It's never one specific thing. I mean, you're in your twenties, single, going through life in Hollywood, you know? Everything is thrown at you. I wouldn't take anything back; I needed to learn everything I did. But it was an interesting journey, to say the least," he previously said.

Naomi Watts and Liev SchreiberNaomi Watts and Liev Schreiber want to get married.

The couple, who have sons Alexander, six, and Samuel, five, have been together for nine years and are considering taking their relationship to the next level by tying the knot. "While Naomi and Liev have had their ups and downs, including a cancelled New Year's Eve wedding right before 2008, they've finally worked out their differences and are rethinking marriage," a source said.

The pair reportedly grew closer after Naomi, 45, was heavily criticized for playing the late Princess Diana in her biopic, which was a flop at the box office, last year. "Liev really admired how Naomi rose above the flak she got for Diana - a role he really thought she'd win awards for. She was totally broken-hearted over that movie and Liev has played a huge role in getting her confidence back so she could carry on with four more films she has in production," a source said.

Lena Dunham to Quit Acting?

Lena DunhamLena Dunham doesn't want to act any more.

The Girls star, who also created the TV show, admits she doesn't love performing as much as she does standing behind the camera and watching other people take to the set. "I don't know if I'm going to want to act any more. I'm always relieved on the days I don't have to. I'd rather give parts to other women than be the woman having the parts," she said.

Meanwhile, the 27-year-old actress - who plays unlucky in love aspiring writer Hannah Horvath in the HBO comedy - admits her relationship with boyfriend Jack Antonoff, whom she started dating shortly after Girls became popular, works really well because he accepted her "baggage." She explained in the April edition of Glamour, "'The dialogue around the show already existed, so it was sort of clear to him what the baggage of dating me was going to be. And I remember talking with him on our first date and him being like, 'God, all the articles about your nudity on the show are such b******t.' It's funny, because in some ways that's the conversation we still have when I'm upset [about the stuff I read]."

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt Don’t Want Their Children to Act

Brad Pitt and Angelina JolieAngelina Jolie and Brad Pitt don't want their children to be actors.

The couple raise six kids together - Maddox, 12, Pax, 10, Zahara, nine, Shiloh, seven, and twins Vivienne and Knox, five - and despite letting Vivienne have a cameo in her new film Maleficent, Angelina is not encouraging them to become screen stars.

"We think it's fun for our kids to have cameos and join us on set, but not to be actors. That's not the goal for Brad and me at all. I think we would both prefer that they didn't become actors. But she was four at the time and other three and four year old [actors] really wouldn't come near me. Big kids thought I was cool - but little kids didn't really like me. So, in order to have a child that wants to play with [Maleficent]... it had to be a child that really liked me and wasn't afraid of my horns and my eyes and claws, so it had to be Viv," she said.

Matthew McConaughey Credits Wife for Success

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Movies, Features,

Camila Alves and Matthew McConaugheyMatthew McConaughey puts his success down to his wife and children.

The Academy-Award winning actor describes his home life as "enriching" and claims the achievements in his career wouldn't have been possible without the support of his spouse Camila Alves and their children, Levi, five, Vida, four, and 15-month-old Livingston, following his win as Best Actor at the Oscars on Sunday.

"I try to give a lot to my life and the people in it, and I know they sure give back. I have a lot to be thankful for. My life outside my career is extremely enriching. So I am letting that feed my work, and letting my work feed my life," Matthew told People.

Richard Linklater - who gave Matthew his breakout role in 1993 film Dazed and Confused - agrees that Camila's support has been a big factor in her husbands transitioning career in recent years: "[In Hollywood] You'll have people around you who want other things [for you], but she will approach it as, 'What does Matthew want?' That's the direction she pushes him."

Kanye West Jealous of Pharrell Williams

Kanye West and Pharrell WilliamsKanye West is reportedly jealous of Pharrell Williams.

The "Blood On The Leaves" rapper is said to be keeping a close eye on the "Happy" hitmaker after reports he is close to signing a deal with Adidas, the same sportswear brand that Kanye has been commissioned to design a clothing range for.

"They are competitive in both music and fashion, Kanye always watches what Pharrell does. He thinks having a similar artist working on their own brand for Adidas will make his collection less special," a source said.

Kanye signed a deal with Adidas in December last year after a spat with the Nike - over royalties for his exclusive collection of Air Yeezy sneakers - which resulted in the end of his business relationship with the sportswear brand.

Charlotte Church: Miley Cyrus Has Skewed Perspective

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Music, Child Stars, Features,

Katy Perry and Miley CyrusCharlotte Church says that Miley Cyrus has a "skewed perspective."

The 28-year-old singer - who was catapulted to the spotlight as a classical singer before branching into pop music in 2005 - can relate the young "Wrecking Ball" hitmaker, 21, who made headlines last year for a number of provocative performances, and expects she will change her attitude in a few years.

"It's so obvious this young lady has a skewed perspective because of what she's been through. All she knows is to sell and be sold. This sounds patronizing but in a couple of years she'll change her tune. I went through a similar-ish thing, not to the depths she is taking it to. But it's exhibitionism. As a teenager, you're really egocentric. Why would you give a f**k about the rest of society," Charlotte said.
