2010 Academy Awards: The Winners React

New Academy Award Sandra Bullock, Jeff Bridges, Mo’Nique, Christoph Waltz and director Kathryn Bigelow spent some time talking to the press after their big wins. Bullock, Mo’nique, Waltz and Bigelow were nominated for the first time in their careers this awards season; Bridges won his statue for his fifth career nomination.

“This came out of left field,” told reporters as she brandished her award for Best Actress. “This was the film I said ‘no’ to,” the actress explained. Bullock received her first nomination and win for The Blind Side, in which she plays Leigh Anne Tuohy. “Things came together in a way that I didn’t see coming,” she said of the film.

Award season is long, fraught with gossip, and seemingly unending. Someone always walks away with a statue - some performers and artists walk away with several. But by the time the same awards are given out the next year, no one really cares who won what the year before.

What we do remember is what they were wearing when they were doing it. People may not remember which Grammy Jennifer Lopez won the year she wore the green Versace gown, but they remember the gown. This year’s may be remembered for several years - the pictures not of moon men statues, but of the clothes everyone wore.

You Tubed, Now You Vote

Chris CrockerVoting polls will be closed in two days for the Tubies, an award event which honors the best YouTube videos. Twelve categories which run the gamut of the genre (everything from Series to Instructional) encompass such popular nominees as the “” guy and “I Got a Crush…on Obama.” Anyone can vote on the best YouTube videos from 2007 and then watch the results, of course, on YouTube. This will be the second annual Tubies event.
