Nadya Suleman appeared one day out of nowhere, and now she’s a huge media celebrity. Hardly a day goes by without a new headline or feature interview, juicy rumors and breaking developments. This mother of fourteen has never starred in a movie or had a recurring role in a televised series. Until recently she wasn’t known for writing or speaking words that many others read and hear, and she’s never been a star of the stage.

During a recent visit with Dr. Phil, Suleman said, “I’m not a celebrity,” adding “I’m no one special.”

So…why’s she famous?

In many ways, Suleman is what you might call “ordinary.” She was born to two parents in 1975 and lived, worked and went to school in California her whole life. She’s a single mother, like so many others, and has something of a dysfunctional family (like so many others). But in many other ways, Suleman is very different from the rest of us - even different from other media darlings. Suleman has fourteen children. Eight of these were born at the same time (yowzah!) and all of them are the products of IVF - in vitro fertilization. Oh, yeah, and she looks a good deal like Angelina Jolie, A-list star and constant media focal point.

From the moment she came to public attention, Suleman has been a star. She’s appeared in a number of interviews both on TV and in the print media and she’s more or less living in the public eye. As of 9 am this very day, she launched a new blog series with Radaronline.com.

Suleman embodies everything people seem to want in their celebrities: she’s got just enough normalcy and just enough out of the ordinary to make her fascinating, enough beauty to make her look good on camera and a life that’s being played out like reality TV.
