Over the past seven seasons, Dancing with the Stars has had its share of interesting relationships. We’ve seen celebrity/instructor couplings (Sabrina Bryan/Mark Ballas, Mario Lopez/Karina Smirnoff, Shannon Elizabeth/Derek Hough), married pros (Alec Mazo/Edyta Sliwinska, Jonathan Roberts/Anna Trebunskaya), father/son competitors (Corky Ballas/Mark Ballas) and sibling rivalries (Julianne Hough/Derek Hough). But we haven’t yet heard of any romances between the ballroom professionals, at least up until now.

In the current issue of Us Weekly, 28-year-old Maksim Chmerkovskiy reveals that he and co-worker Karina Smirnoff just recently started seeing each other. “It’s a beautiful thing right now,” he admits. Although they only began dating after Misty May-Treanor’s injury, the two dancers have reportedly known each other for 15 years. According to a source, Maksim “has always adored her.”

Even though I fear this relationship will end badly, I truly do wish the best for the new couple. Karina could definitely use some good news to get past that slimeball ex!
