  • How I Met Your Mother (CBS, 8 p.m.):  “In the sixth season opener, Ted runs into Cindy (Rachel Bilson), whom he dated briefly—and who is also the roommate of his future wife.” He heard from a little bird (a.k.a. Twitter) that she wasn’t with Hayden Christensen anymore.
  • Chuck (NBC, 8 p.m.):  “Season 4 opens with Chuck engaging in a sweeping quest to find his mother (Linda Hamilton), all while keeping the rogue mission a secret from his sister.” The only clue he has to work with is the fading Polaroid picture John Conner gave him.

First Look: Vanessa Williams as a Desperate Housewife

Vanessa Williams in Desperate Housewives cast

This cast photo makes me miss Ugly Betty just a little bit less.

Although we’re about to begin the seventh season of , a few new faces might help keep the ABC series fresh.

A few weeks ago, we got to a glimpse of Brian Austin Green on set with Marcia Cross. Now, we’re getting a taste of what Vanessa Williams might bring to the show. (Doesn’t she seem right at home in the middle of these ladies?)

First Look: Brian Austin Green in Desperate Housewives

Brian Austin Green in Desperate Housewives

Brian Austin Green was able to win over Vanessa Marcil and (new wife) Megan Fox, but what kind of effect will he have on Marcia Cross?

In the upcoming season of Desperate Housewives, the former 90210 star will play a handyman hired by Bree (Cross) to work on her home. That tattooed character will not only catch the eye of the redhead, but also the eye of new Wisteria Lane resident: Ugly Betty‘s Vanessa Williams.

“Suddenly by episode 4 they’re both going after him,” executive producer Bob Daly teased.

Season 7 of Housewives will debut on September 26.

Casting Corner: Law & Order: Los Angeles, SVU and More

Skeet UlrichHenry Ian Cusick

Law & Order: Los Angeles: Although he understandably won’t be included in the latest Scream film, Skeet Ulrich is not hurting for work. The actor has just been cast in the latest L&O series. This time around Ulrich, as one of the lead detectives, will be helping to hunt down serial killers.

Casting Corner: Dexter, White Collar and More

Julia Stiles

Here’s a quick look at some of the casting announcements made recently:

In Treatment: It remains to be seen whether Amy Ryan will return to The Office. But until then, she’ll be In Treatment. The Academy Award nominee will be seated as Dr. Paul Weston’s therapist, not his patient.

TV Talk: Cougar Town May Lose Name, Desperate Housewives Loses a Star

Description-The series Cougar Town may be returning to ABC next fall, but the show’s name might not. Town‘s wants a new title that reflects the comedy’s ensemble cast.

-Speaking of show names, the Parents Television Council is upset that CBS has only changed S**t My Dad Says to $#*! My Dad Says (pronounced “BLEEP My Dad Says”). If they have a better title for the show - based on the popular Twitter page - I’d like to f**king hear it.

-Doesn’t look like Orson Hodge will be forgiving Bree on Desperate Housewives anytime soon. Actor Kyle MacLachlan, who could appear in an an episode or two next season, is off the show.

-One person who will be returning to his show is Charlie Sheen. The actor, who strongly suggested that he would leave Two and a Half Men, is sticking with the comedy for at least two more years.

Casting Corner: True Blood, Justified and More

Michael Steger

Here’s a quick look at some of the casting announcements made recently:

True Blood: Michael Steger briefly saw his ex-girlfriend date another woman on 90210. Now, he’s been cast as a gay prostitute on HBO’s hit program. Steger, who is right now only scheduled for a one-episode appearance in Season 3, will get picked up by the Vampire King of Mississippi. Steger could possibly have a recurring role in Season 4.

This Week on TV (5/10-5/16)

(Make sure to check out TV Envy’s Programming Schedule.)

MONDAY (5/10)
  • How I Met Your Mother (CBS, 8pm):  “The friends crash an upscale party attended by prominent intellectuals, and Ted tries to show off his brainier side.” His theory on the success of “The Naked Man” strategy proved to be an effective ice breaker.
  • Unwrapped (Food, 8:30pm):  “Included: a huge jawbreaker that takes three weeks to make.” And only two seconds for your child’s dentist to cash in.
  • 24 (FOX, 9pm):  “Jack Bauer goes rogue to discover who’s behind the day’s despicable events.” A strategy that could have come in handy…even a few hours ago.

TV Talk: Veronica Mars May Get Movie, Slash Supports Coco on Leno

Description-Eva Longoria says she’s “really confused” about the lawsuit Nicollette Sheridan filed against Marc Cherry. She doesn’t think the Desperate Housewives creator could even “harm a fly.”

-Veronica Mars fans should not give up hope on a possible big screen movie. “It’s not dead,” creator Rob Thomas claims. “We’re still looking into it.”

-The censors working for Jay Leno should keep a close eye on their guests before they walk out on stage. Last night, guitarist Slash secretly sported a Team Coco button during his Tonight Show appearance.

-Christopher Meloni is now backing off reports that he may leave Law & Order: SVU. Can we say contract negotiations?
