Jay Leno “Blindsided” by ‘Tonight Show’ Boot

Jay LenoJay Leno says he was "blindsided" when he was asked to leave The Tonight Show.

The 63 -year-old talk show host felt like he had been dumped by a girlfriend during his spat with NBC producers, who announced in 2004 that he would be leaving the show and replaced him with Conan O'Brien four years later.

During an interview with 60 Minutes set to air Sunday, Jay recalled, "I was blindsided ... [NBC executives said] 'You're out...' and I went, 'OK.' You know, you have a girl [who] says, 'I don't want to see you any more.' 'Why?' 'You know, she doesn't want to see you any more, OK?'"

Jay - who was later given his own primetime series The Jay Leno Show, which aired from September 2009 to February 2010 - believes he was unfairly deemed a villain when NBC asked him to resume his role on The Tonight Show to replace Conan, who quit after seven months following poor ratings. "I didn't quite understand that, but I never chose to answer any of those things or make fun of any other people involved, it's not my way," he said.

Sunday Ratings: NBC Tops Premieres with Football

ABC had Vanessa Williams, FOX had an hour-long Family Guy and CBS had a must-see watermelon mishap – but those three networks were missing one important thing: football. The gridiron action in Miami was hot enough to win both the demos and viewers for NBC.

Conan O’Brien Speaks Out Against Jay Leno, NBC

Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Comedy, Prime Time, Talk Shows, CBS, Gossip, Video,

May 1st, for late night fans, meant only one thing: Conan O’Brien’s vow of silence with NBC had expired. This weekend, he celebrated that holiday the way any star with something to say might: by giving a hard-hitting interview on national TV.

O’Brien has remained very tactful throughout the entire NBC late night debacle. He didn’t exactly take the gloves off during his time with , but he did make one thing pretty clear: he’s not happy with Jay Leno. “I do not think I will be hearing from him,” Conan said of his fellow late night host, who has now resumed his duties at The Tonight Show. “Who can say who won and who lost?” Conan asked. “I’m laughing ‘cause crying would be sad.”

Preview Conan O’Brien’s 60 Minutes Interview

Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Prime Time, CBS, News, Video,

Fans of Conan O’Brien probably aren’t used to seeing him on air at 7:00 in the evening. They also are probably not used to seeing him speak without a smile on his face.

During his first interview since leaving NBC, O’Brien carefully touches upon his experience at the Peacock network. (He is not legally allowed to disparage them.) He also offers a few words on his predecessor/successor.

“If I had surrendered and handed it over to somebody publicly and wished them well, uh…and then I would not have come back six months later… But that’s me, you know. Everyone’s got their own, you know, way of doing things,” Conan says in reference to .

Sunday Ratings: Globes Golden for NBC

Sunday evening had a little bit of something for everyone: sports, glamour, action and drama. Unfortunately, this meant mixed results for some network staples. And though the Golden Globes brought NBC its best 18-49 performance for a non-sports event since ER‘s finale, CBS won both the viewers and the demos with its playoff action.

Sunday Ratings: CBS, NBC Both Win the Race

Aside from FOX’s early celebration of Halloween (and a shift in CBS’ schedule), yesterday’s schedule was pretty uneventful. By night’s end, the Eye network was tops with the viewers while the Peacock network was first in the demos.

VIDEO: Michael Vick Talks to 60 Minutes

Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Prime Time, CBS, News, Video,

He’s served time behind bars and been forced to declare bankruptcy—but has paid enough for his involvement in the dogfighting ring?

In an interview to air this weekend, the new Philadelphia Eagle will plead his case and explain why he should be allowed a second chance. (The NFL is only allowing the quarterback to participate on a conditional basis right now.) Despite his eagerness to return to the game, Vick tells CBS Sports’ James Brown that he laments his inexcusable actions more than his lost career. “I mean, football don’t even matter,” Michael claims. (What a crock of…)

The entire interview will air on this Sunday, Aug. 16, at 7 p.m. ET/PT.
