Kiefer Sutherland’s ‘24’ Nerves

Kiefer Sutherland as Jack BauerKiefer Sutherland is "terrified" about returning to 24.

The 47-year-old actor is reprising his role as terrorism agent Jack Bauer - whom he played for almost nine years until 2010 - in 24: Live Another Day and is feeling the pressure to live up the previous eight seasons of the real-time drama.

Speaking at the Television Critics Association's meeting at the Langham Hotel in Pasadena, California on Monday, he said, "I'm terrified. I won't lie to you. Until we start shooting, I'm about as anxious and wound up as I've been in a long time. I'm very nervous. Without patting ourselves on the back too hard, we made eight very strong years. We always would look back every season and wish something had been better, but I was very proud. So to make 12 more episodes and not make them the best 12 we've ever made, I'm terrified."

The series - which will run for half the length of time than previous seasons with just 12 episodes - will begin filming in London in the coming weeks and the actor, who was born in the city, is "anxious" about getting back to work: "I've spent big chunks of my life there, but I'm anxious. We plan to be shooting outside. I'm sure we'll be hated by a large portion of London for snarling up their traffic, and for that I apologize in advance."

24's Chloe

Actress Mary Lynn Rajskub thinks fans would be thrilled if President David Palmer could somehow be incorporated into the upcoming 24 fim. Palmer, who was played by Dennis Haysbert on the series' first four seasons, was assassinated at the beginning of Day 5.

"I'd like President Palmer to come back, I think a lot of people liked him. I wish Michelle Dessler wasn't dead, I wish Edgar wasn't dead," she said.

So does this mean we can count on seeing systems analyst Chloe O'Brian in the film? "I think I'll be back, I hope so. I don't know what will happen in it," Rajskub said.

Will 24 Move to NBC?

24 logo with Jack Bauer

Season 9 of 24 could see Jack Bauer’s biggest challenge to date. If the program is canceled as rumored by FOX, Kiefer Sutherland be paired with a new team member—a peacock.

According to Entertainment Weekly, NBC is entertaining the possibility of airing the series should their rivals give up on it. Although 24 has lost ground in the ratings, it still outperforms many of the shows on the fourth place network. Unfortunately, the drama also comes with a pricey budget.

Even if 24 is not picked up - by anyone - next season, Bauer may still see some action. A big screen version of the program has already been in the works.
