Looks like anyone who was hoping that Kinect would sell for a somewhat reasonable price may be a bit disappointed. After Gamestop priced Kinect at $149, and then took it down, we figured it may have been just a placeholder error. However, today, we also have evidence of Amazon, Wal-Mart, and Best Buy all pricing the upcoming wireless gaming peripheral for the Xbox 360 at the same $149 price point. Seriously, you can buy a brand new Xbox 360 Arcade console for that price today, so that is one expensive add-on. See for yourself:

Looks like Apple is looking to thin some of those long iPhone lines that have become a yearly summer tradition. It has just been announced that Wal-Mart will be selling the iPhone 4 on June 24th, which is the day the phone goes on sale. In the past, Wal-Mart would sell iPhones well after the launch date, so this is a first for them. It’s smart, as there are way more Wal-Mart stores in the country than Apple stores.
In addition, Radio Shack has been telling customers that they would also be selling the new iPhone on launch day as well, bringing that store back into relevancy for the first time since 1992. Lastly, Best Buy has yet to officially announce launch day plans, but they did sell both the iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS at launch, so this should be no different.
Of course, you’ll also be able to buy the iPhone 4 directly at an Apple Store as well as any AT&T store as well. That’s a lot of options, and that’s not even taking into account that you’ll be able to pre-order the iPhone 4 starting on June 15th so that it is shipped directly to you, thus avoiding lines altogether.

So the iPhone 3G has been discontinued, and now Wal-Mart has gone and lowered the price of the iPhone 3GS down from $197 to $97—a full $100 drop. The change gives credence to the rumor that Apple will be dropping the price of the iPhone 3GS to $99 with two-year contract, and that the 3GS will take the place of the 3G as the entry-level iPhone device. As we stated previously, we thought it would behoove Apple to keep the 3G around as the free with contract phone, then use the 3GS as the $99 device, and finally use the iPhone Pro as the flagship model. We think that would be a good price structure to take on Android, but hey, we aren’t Apple—let’s see where this all ends up.
In the meantime though, as enticing as a $97 iPhone 3GS might sound, just wait to see what gets announced at the WWDC 2010 keynote first, m’kay?

The Sprint exclusive Pre will be available across the United Stats (yes, US-only for now) in Sprint stores, Best Buy, Radio Shack, and certain Wal-Mart locations. As far as plans are concerned, you can get the Palm Pre with Sprint’s Everything Data plan, or the Business Essentials with Messaging and Data plan. Of course, the Touchstone charging accessory will also be available for $69.99, which includes the $49.99 Touchstone dock and the $19.99 back cover for the Pre that’s required.

Now remember, this is a rumor, but our friends over at the Boy Genuis Report are saying that they are hearing rumblings that the iPhone will be hitting Wal-Mart soon, and the price is going to be $99 a pop. Now, we’ve heard these Wal-Mart and iPhone rumors before, and we are almost certain that the iPhone will be hitting your local Wally World soon. However, the word here is that you’ll be able to pick up a 4GB iPhone, something that hasn’t been around for quite a while, for a Benjamin. Yeah, you lost out on the storage space, but seriously, this is Wal-Mart, and it’s a $99 iPhone. Expect updates on this one as soon as we hear more.

The new BlackBerry Bold, which was released yesterday, is suddenly coming to Wal-Mart at an amazing price: FREE.
Billed as the BlackBerry Bold Unlimited, the catch to this seemingly great deal is that you have to sign on with a two-year contract, at least a 1350 minute talk plan and unlimited text messaging, on top of the required BlackBerry data plan – not a bad deal if you talk and text that much anyway. You know, as much as we aren’t fan of Wal-Mart, we understand that it helps get products out to the masses. The latest rumor has Wal-Mart selling the iPhone 3G during the lead-up to this years Black Friday. This would make Wal-Mart the second big box retailer in the US to carry the iPhone, with the first being Best Buy. As is the policy with Best Buy, AT&T, and the Apple Store, we’d expect that you would have to activate the iPhone at Wal-mart.
If this rumor proves true, we expect a lot more iPhone 3Gs to be sold this holiday, and by that, we mean even more than the enormous amount that we had already predicted. Hey, AT&T, would you mind beefing up your 3G access a bit more? It’s gonna get crowded.
It would appear that Dell is teaming with Wallyworld to create Solution Station, a service to help the electronically challenged. Help is offered for setting up PCs, TVs, wireless networks, entertainment centers, etc. Wal-mart plans to offer their service in the Dallas area in about 15 stores this month. Don’t try to pull a fast one on them as they only deal with “Dell and other branded systems.” Think of it as a bargain basement Geek Squad.

Apple must be positively giddy at hearing the news that the iTunes Store is now the #2 retailer of music, second only to Wally World. The company claims that it sold 20 million tunes on Christmas Day alone. Based on an NPD Group survey, the top four also included Best Buy and Target. The study also concluded that about 29 million consumers, ages 36 to 50, acquired music legally. They were those that had recently purchased (or received) MP3 players. That was an increase of 5 mill over the year before. That’s a lot of assuaged guilt.
