Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Classics, Celeb News, Celebrity Gossip, Rumors,
Patrick Swayze has been cremated.
The Dirty Dancing star’s ashes are currently being held at his lawyer’s office, his death certificate states. It is understood that the remains will stay at the office until Patrick’s wife Lisa Niemi arranges for them to be moved.
Website RadarOnline reports, “Patrick Swayze has been cremated and his wife Lisa is moving ahead with plans to scatter his remains on his New Mexico ranch.”
It is unknown whether there are plans to hold a family memorial service for Patrick, who lost his battle with pancreatic cancer last Monday; however, a public memorial service took place in the town of Lake Lure, North Carolina, where much of 1987 movie Dirty Dancing was filmed.

Jessica Biel Turns to Stripping for Powder Blue

Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Drama, Independent, Casting, Trailers, Upcoming Releases,
For some reason, Justin Timberlake’s ladies really like working a pole.
In the upcoming movie, Powder Blue, four random characters find themselves coming together on Christmas Eve. Jessica Biel, who once again aims to be remembered for her acting, will play a stripper trying to raise funds for her terminally-ill son.
As you can see in the trailer, the producers have relied on very little words - and many images of Jessica - to draw you into the story. (In case the quick edits had you wondering, that was an egg you saw cracked on Biel’s chest.)
Powder Blue also stars Forest Whitaker, Ray Liotta and Patrick Swayze. The movie is scheduled for release sometime in 2009.
Patrick Swayze Diagnosed with Cancer

Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Celeb News, Rumors,
After rumors starting swirling around the internet today, reps for Patrick Swayze had to confirm the unfortunate news: the actor has been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.
The National Enquirer has been reporting exclusively that the 55-year-old has been given only five weeks left to live. The tabloid claims the cancer, which was discovered in late January, has already spread to other organs.
While the details of Swayze’s current condition was left vague, a statement released today seems to contradict the dire news:
“Patrick has a very limited amount of disease and he appears to be responding well to treatment thus far. All of the reports stating the timeframe of his prognosis and his physical side effects are absolutely untrue. We are considerably more optimistic.
Patrick is continuing his normal schedule during this time, which includes working on upcoming projects. The outpouring of support and concern he has already received from the public is deeply appreciated by Patrick and his family.”
Whatever the truth is, we truly wish the best for Swayze and the rest of his family.

Mr. Magorium’s Wonder Emporium
I saw the trailer and immediately dismissed this movie out of hand. Never mind that it has Dustin Hoffman and Natalie Portman (a big star cast if ever there was one); this is a movie about a magic toy shop. HUH? Who actually got Hoffman and Portman to agree to this? Designed especially for kids and family, Magorium is about an inventor (Hoffman) and his manager’s (Portman) attempts to keep the shop open, despite intervention from an accountant (Jason Bateman).
This one’s for the little tykes, people. Mr. Magorium’s Wonder Emporium comes to theaters November 16.

DVD REVIEW: Red Dawn: Collector’s Edition

Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Action, Drama, DVD Reviews,
Vanessa Williams giving up her Miss America Crown….the Summer Olympics in LA….The Cars stealing MTV’s Best Video Award from Michael Jackson….and Tommy Howell drinking deer blood on Red Dawn. These were things I distinctly remember from 1984.
I can’t even tell you how many times I watched Red Dawn around that time….nor do I really remember why. Could it have been because my best friend loved Darren Dalton? Was it because I was fascinated seeing Ponyboy Curtis from The Outsiders (Howell) turn into a cold-hearted Wolverine? Was it the newly introduced PG-13 rating? Maybe it was because young women (Jennifer Grey, Lea Thompson) got to help take down the Russians? (This was the era of the Cold War after all). So when I heard that they were coming out with a collector’s edition of Red Dawn, I was all over it.
For those who can’t remember the 23-year-old film, here’s a quick refresher: The movie begins with Soviet paratroopers landing behind a high school. They immediately start shooting at the students gawking through their classroom window. It seems the Soviets and Cubans have invaded the US and have basically started WWIII. A group of teens drives into the woods with the weapons they have stockpiled. Although they struggle being away from their families, they eventually create their own insurgency and do their best to wreak havoc on the foreign troops.
