In this episode we give you a look at the TiVo Mini. With the TiVo Mini, you can connect a television that is not hooked up to your cable signal and stream live TV and recorded content to it. This means you you can access your TiVo content on a second television. The TiVo Mini can even access the subscription-based services that your full-sized TiVo can! In this episode of Unboxing Live, we give you a look at the new 2012 Apple TV. The main feature of the updated Apple TV is that it can display 1080p content. iTunes has been updated to support the 1080p resolution as well, which makes renting and buying content from iTunes at the highest quality look great on the new Apple TV and the new iPad as well. Netflix has also been updated to stream 1080p with the new device, which is powered by a single-core A5 processor. You can pick up the new Apple TV for $99.

Unboxing Live 062: DXG USA A80V 1080p camcorder

Cheap handheld camcorders seem to be all the rage these days, so it’s rare that we focus on them unless they have some sort of standout feature set. Heck, the iPhone 4 records 720p H.264 video itself. Today, we are focusing on the DXG USA A80V handheld camcorder because we think it has a few features that set it apart from the pack.

The A80V is a 1080p camcorder that records at 30 fps, 1080i at 60fps, and 720p at 60fps. All videos are recorded in H.264 MOV file format, which is perfect for pulling directly off the camcorder and viewing/editing immediately. A lot of similar cameras require a transcode before you can view or play with the files. It’s got a 10 megapixel CMOS sensor, 5x optical zoom, 10x digital zoom, 3-inch touch display, and even an HDMI output (with HDMI cable included.)

Unboxing Live 057: TiVo Premiere Series 4

TiVo recently launched their TiVo Premiere Series4 DVR with much hype, only to reveal a box that, at least for now, is crippled and underpowered. Sure, there’s a new Flash-based TiVo interface, but the box couldn’t be any more plain, and the dual core processor is currently being held back from its full potential, as TiVo tries to get both cores working with its new interface. In the meantime, only one core is enabled, and that makes from some painfully slow TiVo menu browsing. We got our hands on the TiVo Premiere, and wanted to give you a look at the packaging, and the device itself, as well as the included accessories in the box. At least here, we can see that TiVo did something right.

Kodak Zi6 HD Pocket Video Camera unboxing gallery

Continuing our look at pocket HD camcorders, we were able to get our hands on a new Kodak Zi6 Pocket Video Camera, which shoots in 720p high definition, at a full 60 frames per second. In case you were wondering, that’s unique for ultra-portable HD camcorders. There isn’t much storage space on-board, but that is rectified by the SD card slot, which supports up for a 32 GB SD card. The Kodak Zi6 also includes an SD AV cable, as well as an HD cable, allowing you to plug the camera directly into an HDTV to view the content on it. It takes two AA batteries, and they throw in two rechargeable AAs, as well a charger. We’ve taken a bunch of images of the device, which you can find in our Kodak Zi6 gallery. Unboxing Live 026: HP Pavilion HDX Dragon Entertainment Notebook PC

In this episode, we open up the HP Pavilion HDX Dragon PC. This thing is a monster - a 20.1-inch notebook that specializes in home entertainment, sporting dual-lamp displays and weighing in at 15.5 pounds. Other stats of note on the HDX Dragon are the 64-bit Core 2 Duo processor and 2GB included memory (it supports up to 4GB), HP Imprint casing (looks very sleek), and fingerprint reader for security.

Since it’s a computer geared towards entertainment, the video card should also be mentioned. The HDX Dragon ships with a 512MB ATi Mobility Radeon HD2600 XT. That means that you get DirectX 10 support out of the box. Continuing on the whole entertainment meme, it also has a built-in HD DVD-ROM drive, allowing you to play back your HD DVD movies at 1080p.

Finally we have the connections, which are too many for us to go through - so we will let HP tell the story here:

The HDX comes with 4 USB 2.0 ports, an Express Card/54 slot (which also supports Express Card/34), an HDMI port, an S-Video, a VGA, an RJ-11, an RK-45, an IEEE 1394 FireWire, and a Consumer IR. A 5-in-1 digital media Card reader supports Secure Digital, Memory Stick, Memory Stick Pro, MultiMediaCard, and xD-Picture Cards. You get an eSATA port for high-speed data transfer to external storage devices up to six times faster than existing solutions, which is perfect for high-def video content recording. There’s an integrated 802.11a/g/b/pre-N plus Bluetooth for highest-speed wireless connections. And the adjustable webcam with integrated microphones lets you capture still photos and short videos and for live video chat.

So yeah - they packed a lot into this machine. Now hit the video to actually see how it all came together.

TiVo Series 3 Unboxing Images

This is the one we have been waiting for. The TiVo Series 3 has been received and unboxed by one lucky fella, and he snapped images for all of us to drool over. The current rumor is that the Series 3 will be launching sometime between September 12 and September 16 - right on time for the holiday season.
